I would just like to say thanks to Manu Ginobili and hopes he gets better soon and has a good and safe olympics.

I just replayed Manu's 3rd quarter ending 3pt. he put it behind his back to take Trevor "mighty defense" Ariza on his ass, then went ahead and shot a 28 footer with Andrew "Wilt" Bynum on his face, at the buzzer BTW.

Then I saw Kobe throw his hands down like a little girl. That was classic

Manu's poise, control and an iron will won this game @ GS down the stretch.

Defense in the 4th won this one (and a pile of luck), Manu kept us in the game in the 3rd all by him lonesome though. Its really impressing that the guy got +30 on driving alone more or less, when his jumpshots start falling, it will be sick.

When Manu plays like he did the last few games, we will win the Title.

Let's just hope he can get to the rim at will during the playoffs (throughout the whole playoffs) this time. As much as I liked him swishing impossible stepbacks last year. I like him as an And-1 machine, a lot more. I don't know if he has it in him to be both.

No offense but his 2005 form is overrated relative to his form now. 2007 Ginobili and recent ginobili are better than 2005 ginobili.

He's lost athleticism of course, but his basketball IQ has gone through the roof. He's wily as hell these days and makes fantastic, optimal plays. Court vision and spacing are elite now. He didn't have this in 2005.

Strongly disagreed.

2005 Manu would put up 40 pts performances in no more than 20 shots, and would do it mostly by attacking the rim. 2007/2010 Manu relies a lot more in jump-shooting which is a lower % shot. He's still awsome but the 2005 version was better IMO.

Well, this is true and if you were looking at points scored "efficiency" then yes I would agree, but being an overall player is more about how efficiently you can score points.

Ginobili's assist ability has gone way up compared to 2005 which is humongous.

It's probably a wash. I just don't think 2005 ginobili is clearly better than 2007 or 2010 gino. You give up some offensive efficiency, but you gain greater assist capability, court vision, and spacing.

Seriously his spacing on pick and rolls/screen and rolls are impeccable now. He didn't have that in 2005.

Yes, he did. The thing is that it wasn't so noticeable because he didn't dominate the ball so much back then so his assists numbers never made justice to his passing abilities.

Manu isn't the same player he was 5 years ago (although he's still obviously pretty damn good), the reason he seems like a better player right now is 'cause he has more chances to show just how good he has always been.

Best player in the league right now. Lebron, today scored 42 but in the key moments failed. Manu, when the Lakers were able to close down to 2 points, scored 12 of the next 16 points and increased the lead to 15, sealing the game.

It's so fuc**** awesome seeing Manu play like this again.

Manu's season averages are reaching new levels, too. He's all the way up to 16.4 PPG and 44.2% shooting now. Before the All-Star Break, he was shooting around 40% and only had 13 PPG or so.

If he continues to play this way for the last seven games, he may actually attain his second-highest PPG average of his career. He's 0.1 PPG behind 2006-07 for 2nd place and he obviously has no chance of topping his 19.5 PPG set in 2007-08.

He also is on pace to set a career-high for assists.

Manu has yet another notch on his belt as a fucking spurs legend.

Reminds me of the regular season game in 2005 season when he got elbowed in the nose and had to sink flagrant foul shots and had to go to the bench for a brief period, then nailed all the free throws which secured the game.
Pego and I watched that, we were like whoa wtf

What an amazing comeback

If he doesn't leave the game, we beat the Mavs by 20

an article from the main french sport site about manu. nothing really new, but still great to see a full article about manu in a french important media (i put it in the first manu related thread i found):

http://www.lequipe.fr/Basket/breves2010/20100426_130939_ginobili-le-gendre-ideal.html

Ginobili, the ideal son-in-law (which means in this french expression, he's nice, polite, perfect, politically correct, so that any parents would like him to marry their daughter)

Manu, player extrovert et smart at communicating, has an almost perfect popularity in Argentina. Almost....

There are a lot of reasons to appreciate Manu Ginobili. First, for the crazy generosity of his very inspired game who led the spurs in a good rythm in the PO. For his achievements: he's the only one with Bill Bradley to have won the euroleague, the NBA title and the gold medal. for his personality of course, both wise and extrovert, which make him the ideal son-in-law of an "over soccerised" argentina, who search some positive heros, well on all aspects.

Outside of the soccer and tennis players, stars that can't be ignored but sometimes unbearable, they are two to have this profile, the hockey female player, Luciana Aymar, et him, Manu Ginobili. Both are provincial, her from Rosario, him from Bahia Blanca. Both are known as much for their own talent as for the fact that they represent their national team. Before the Beijin olympic games, a big campaign was showing manu like a samaritan, here going with kids in theme parks, here like a male mid-wife. The whole package.

A big Twitter user.

Geek "dedicated", he uses as an expert all the networks. He promised on Twitter not to talk bball anymore till the end of the mavs serie. Fail ! He allowed us to follow, with a lot of sense of humour, the saga of his broken nose. "Confirmed !" he said after the game 3, "they broke my little nose. what a shame. it was so cute". Later: "the surgery was succesful" with a lot of photoshoped pics rather funny.

So is Manu, who the spanish paper Gigantes once called "Manudona" et who show us the visages scanned of his future twins on Facebook. So, no flaw ? not exactly. He had to justify longly his absence for the next world championship in a column that he writes for some years in the paper La Nacion. He promised to be there for the London Olympics et to take part to the qualifying competition but some peole reproach him for favoring his career plan rather than the conquest of the only title that lacks the gold generation of the argentine NT: the world championship. Seen from France, it looks like a great problem to have.
