This was probably credited as an assist and even though it's Manu, that annoys me.

if not for a pass that quick, there's no way the closeout would be as aggressive, and bertans wouldnt have had the same easy path to the paint

Yeah, Manu's pass made that play. I just don't like the way assists are recorded in the NBA. To me if a player dribbles at all after the pass it should be no assist. It might be a bit harsh but better than a lot of the phantom assists we see now.

sometimes its ridiculous. they'll throw an entry pass to a big who will go to work in the post, make a move, and the guard gets an assist

There have only been a couple of players still in the game at age 40. Manu is still taking charges, making incredible passes, playing smart and crafty, and occasionally lighting up the scoreboard. Never been one player at 40 who was better.

AS far as this particular pass goes, if you break it down into segments Manu catches the poorly thrown ball with one hand, controls it and with one sweeping motion behind his back sends a bullet pass over to Bertans. Not many players would have that instant instinct on how to do that , much less be able to accomplish it.

We will not see his like agains

Vince Carter may disagree, but Manu has certainly contributed on a team desperate for leadership. But the all time greats over 40 were Jordan (scored 43 points at age 40), who was still one of the top players even though he obviously wasn’t the same player he was at 36, and Kareem. Manu is up there, though. For guards like Carter, Jordan, and Manu to compete in the NBA with guys in their 20s and young 30s, it takes something special.

AS far as this particular pass goes, if you break it down into segments: Manu catches the poorly thrown ball with one hand as he goes left; he controls it and with one sweeping motion behind his back sends a bullet pass across court over to Bertans . Not many players would have that instant instinct on how to do that , much less be able to accomplish it.

When Manu retires the #20 will be retired as well. Not just from the Spurs but from use by the entire human race. Children will learn to count, "18, 19, 21, 22."

I wonder if this will happen, now. Haha

I was so proud of Manu the way he bounced back in the 2014 Finals after his horrible mistakes in game 6 a year earlier.

I'll never forget that dunk in game 5 or the three-pointers he put in that rallied them from that early deficit to the one that delivered the knockout punch.
