I don’t think Biden could get away with doing that, it would feed Trumps narrative way too much.
Trump needs to be careful though. In bents not taking the 1st debate seriously is a trend in recent years. Obama got smoked by Romney in the first 2012 debate and had to make up ground, same with Bush and Kerry. Biden’s lost a step since his 2012 debate with Ryan but he’s going to be better in a 1 on 1 debate than he was in the group debates.
Yeah and the first Bush impatiently looking at his watch while debating Clinton in a townhall setting was also a bad look
I actually think that with the virus and everything that is going on this year, there are enough smoke screens that Biden could get by without debating. If he does, they could pump him up with enough Vit B12 that he could possibly still have a decent debate
