This was avoidable, but the Senate and the WH refused to extend UI or pass new stimulus.

Now Bill Millers is crying about not being able to hire anybody.

"It's definitely the unemployment checks "

    https://www.kens5.com/article/money/...b-66cdca3eb765

Shouldn't have pushed the Balous Miller reopening plan. Now business is as bad as ever. Oh, and - yeah - the fact that they pay even less than unemployment for work and hours might have something to do with it.

Political suicide for Trump. He passes the stimulus package and recovery gets even better between now and Election time and a lot of voters give him credit for it. Now he’s basically rolling the dice on old fashion bootstrap austerity not setting us back between now and November.

Meanwhile, Egbert doesn't know what it is going to take get the entry-level jobs filled. For some jobs, they are advertising starting pay as $14 to to$18 an hour.

They have 2 job openings listed on their website. One is for $12/hr.

And like any sleazy business they will not let you work full-time even if you want to, so that 12 per is nothing.

These places cry about not being able to hire anyone, but willingly choose to run them with skeleton crews. When the restaurants opened up in May it was like a new golden age. They had the built-in excuse not to hire everyone back but still opened up as close to max capacity as they could while offering up any deals they could to keep people ordering online if they couldn't come in. Business was better than ever.

Now they're dealing with the consequences. Not going to shed a single tear for Ol' Balous.

THE RIOTS!!! are their talking point between now and Election Day, it’s what their overlords have given them as the topic to parrot about. Makes sense since it’s sure as a better talking point than “If you ignore how much of a partial birth abortion the economy has been the last 6 months and currently is, it’s da best economy ever!”

Chaos, mayhem, pestilence and a spoiled election seems to be the Trump strategy.A state of emergency and the suspension of the Cons ution might be his best chance to remain in power.

Do these business owners not understand that people are ineligible to collect unemployment if you offer them a job?

You have it in your power to report them to the state for unemployment fraud. Or am I missing something?

You mean people don't want to put themselves in one of the most dangerous places, eg in a small dining room packed with people, for ~$10 an hour during a pandemic that has killed 200,000 of us and has a good chance of killing another 200,000 before it's over?

How has the Biden campaign not jumped all over “K shaped recovery” as one of its slogans? Whoever came up with that was brilliant.

Trump promised cases would go from 16 to zero very quickly.
Didn't he say that would happen in like a few days? Now when he's asked about that he insists that it still will go to zero, implying that he's technically not wrong if it goes from 16 to 5,000,000 to zero.

It won't go to zero until the human population is near zero.

Models don't mean after November 3, depending on outcome masks may come off for the 35%

Dems need to be nonstop reminding people of it so Trump doesn’t normalize it. Biden campaign should ask baseline bum to create a daily coronavirus tracker they can use in ads.

Dems can explain the e in total deaths.

You can't. I'm sure in your head they all slipped in the shower.

    smh

You stupid, racist, ignorant, paranoid, delusional mother ers are going to flip the out when Trump loses. Qanon etc will inspire violence.

    Your ideology will do that.

    Your party.

The ones that take guns everywhere. I hope I am wrong. Really I do. I just don't see the crazy dialed back at all. Fox "news" has too much money to make convincing morons like you that BLM is the problem.

Lying sacks of like you will be right there making excuses and deflecting the entire time.

Stupid ers. If you can't find the labor... raise your wages.

These leeches are so used to sponging off their employees' time, that when the power dynamic flips... they can't figure it out.

Sort of proves it isn't really "capitalism". Free market solution is raise your wages until you get the labor you need. If they aren't doing that... they aren't free market capitalists.

Not me. I'm too busy making plans to house a dozen Libyan refugee families when it is convenient for me to do so.

It’s exactly why we need a UBI too, a UBI makes it so greedy restaurant owners actually have to pay respectable wages.
