Yeah, that clearly falls into the "lesser of two evils" vote. And I totally disagree with Cruz on this one. It's a political calculation on his part. He is trying to get the Trump whacko support when he runs for President again.

Theres also economic consequences to what zodiac/Hawley are doing. If the US’s ability to have free and fair elections that aren’t tampered with by whoever is in power is suddenly in doubt, sooner or later our credit rating will go down and the cost of borrowing as a countr my gets worse.

if rich people and large corporations were paying their fair share, we wouldn't need to go after upper middle class people. Was the US so bad when the highest tax bracket was at 70%? I know it sounds crazy but at the end were the US doing worse when the rich were paying more?

Personally I don't consider them to be socialists but I do have policy disagreements with some of their proposed giveaways. I think forgiving student loans is nothing but blatant vote buying.
I think it’s political suicide. The yuppie liberals with out of control student debt already vote Dem, foregiving student loan debt is a giant slap in the face to working class voters. If the Dems prioritize student debt foregiveness over more important stuff they’ll lose the midwestern states forever.
Either way, not sure why that’s “vote buying” but handing out farm subsidies like candy isn’t vote buying either. Student loan forgiveness is one of countless things you could consider vote buying.
The much better form of widespread debt foregiveness would be medical bill foregiveness.
IIRC he was saying back in July that Trump had no chance of getting re-elected.

best argument against student loan forgiveness is that (despite all the stigma/nonsense of every college grad getting a useless gender studies degree) college grads tend to be higher earners than the rest of the population, and that if you are going to give big relief, it probably shouldnt go to people at the higher end of the income chart... though the student loan forgiveness talk largely stems from how college tuition has grossly outpaced inflation/earnings to the point where the people who would normally be the big spenders (young college grads who arent billionaires) are not able to spend, buy homes, etc, and it stagnates the economy.
The Trump tax cuts? Total bribe to the top 20%, tbh.
