I heard, that was awesome. Maybe that emoji can replace the player dog/kid one once and for all.
teams are meeting with all kind of players in the draft right now. How could meeting Wembanyama be restricted? Just cause he's the #1 pick that doesn't mean you can't interview him. He just won't do any besides the Spurs
I heard, that was awesome. Maybe that emoji can replace the player dog/kid one once and for all.
Maybe he'll do one with the Rockets.....
That's my thinking- Spurs can just call it routine pre-draft intelligence gathering. Sniffing around for unsavory uncles.
Wemby should wear #43 tbh.
If Pop meeting with Wemby now is tampering somehow, it would be monumentally stupid of him to do so rather than wait a month and do it after the draft.
I'm pretty sure they know exactly what they're allowed to do. Meeting with prospects is part of the process now anyway. It's literally what they're doing with other candidates and other teams are doing, too. They're fine.
Yea zero chance Pop and the Spurs flew out to Paris without knowing they’re allowed to do so lol. This is fine and I’m glad they get to spend some time together before it becomes official on June 22nd.
A very long #1 making him look even skinnier.
It's not about the rockets, he was just relieved the Spurs were not fourth pick more importantly as he is rooting for the Spurs since he is young he did not want to play for a rival, nothing against the city of houston or their organization tbh
some of us never left tbh... smh
Maybe pop wants to watch the french national team practices . Nothing wrong there. Can't mix scouting with? Tampering. Tampering is discussing contracts and pop is no longer the GM
In that case he should have been even more excited when Portland was revealed as the #3 pick.
As a Frenchman he cannot accept what Tillman Fer ta has done to gastronomy.
Right
What I meant was- is there any limit to the amount of contact- or is there a formal process etc.
I mean everyone knows who the Spurs are going to take (For maybe the first time since 97).
After the Spurs won the Duncan lottery didn’t Pop fly down to USVI to “get to know” Tim and his family prior to that draft? I think it’s not unusual
I thought that was soon after the draft, but I might be remembering it wrong.
Probably meeting up on the wine trail with his former player Boris Diaw.
He hasn't even heard about Wembanyama yet.
Brian Wright's persona is emerging over time. Seems laid-back, diligent and looking at the big picture.
That French sailor shirt he wears in the interview tells us all we need to know.
As far as Pop tampering, the combine and interviews are happening for God's sake. Teams can talk to players.
I'm guessing that the new-look Spurs will be developed slowly, methodically, subtly and successfully. No big major moves in the first year, I'd guess.
Fwiw, Pop is technically a free agent atm.
His contract ended with the Spurs season and he's yet to ink an extension. I'm guessing this will be taken care of as soon as he returns from Paris.
He's just going to hand them his vino bill and say "two times that."
If you've been following the breadcrumbs that timvp has been dropping for the last 5 years, it sounds like Wright was the one who called Kawhi a "pussy" during that whole ordeal and soured that relationship tbh![]()
I was at the gym. Was in the weight room 10 minutes before they started announcing the pick order on TV. Was stressing me out, so I went downstairs to play basketball. Was in the middle of a game, and I heard folks around the gym and upstairs start cheering. So I knew, but I didn't believe it until someone showed me a link from NBA.com with the official order on it lol. I wasn't even allowing myself to hope.
Another happy day! Still reeling!
looks like it was before, they’re all good to hang with him now

Duncan told Reynolds that his bond with Popovich started when the Spurs coach flew to the Virgin Islands to meet with him before the 1997 NBA draft:
“It started there, it started with him going out of his way to want to know who I was as a person, wanting to meet my friends, wanting to meet my father, sit down and speak with him. It started there. And he built that trust from early on, just trying to understand who I was—not just as a basketball player, but as a person and beyond.”
