The crowd did cheer for West when he got up.
Are you freakin' kidding me? It was a perfectly legal backpick. Horry was standing still, not moving. He leans into him a little bit as the blow comes, but that's natural. It was no more, no less than 100 picks that are set in a game. It was a very gentle collision.
If you want to be angry at someone... be angry at West's teammates for not calling out the pick! And be angry at Mr. Coach-of-the-Year, Byron Scott, for leaving West out there with the scrubs when he KNEW that West had back problems! Why didn't he sit him down as soon as the Spurs got up by 18?
Should the Spurs not play basketball in all its dimensions because a player on the other team has a bad back? Why?
The crowd did cheer for West when he got up.
Not very much.
Far more people were cheering for Horry's hit than when West got up.
Horse . This is playoff basketball and only the strong survive. I hope West is out for the season, it is only a few days anyway for the Hornets.
GO ROBERT HORRY!!!
GO SPURS!!!
the Hornets, their fans and their families.
That is true.
I didn't think West was really hurt.
He seemed to be milking it for calls all night so I thought it was more of that, that we were getting.
I have alot of respect for the Pistons because they never play physical and would never even think of using a hard foul on anyone. Sweet innocent angels they are.
Does anyone remember losing our second highest scorer Derek Anderson to a cheap shot from hmmm what team was that?
Suns fans were cheering when Shaq laid out TP. Luckily the suns, as always, were too stupid to do anything physical until after their fate was sealed.
NOH have used plenty of hard shots this series. So they really can't complain. If they do then they will be following the lead of the mavs and the suns. I don't want to see yet another whiny ass team emerge so I hope they can handle playoff basketball.
Also I am totally shocked that some people cheered. I always thought every person in SA was an angel. What's next, are we going to end up with some areas of town that you can't walk around in at night.
In a normal situation, where there's no player falling down and injuring his back, it is absolutely a no-call. Hard picks happen all the time. And that one wasn't particulary hard.
still waiting on you to change my tagline, kori...I sent you the PM you requested
Speak for yourself.
I don't give a if anybody thinks my team is classy or not. All I care about is my team winning. You don't win by being politically correct or classy. So screw you and your apology, and if that bodyslam ends up giving us a pass to the WCF, then good job Mr Horry
They didn't cheer David West's injury...they cheered Horry's smart play.
The day Spur fans stop cheering their players for smart plays is the day Spur fans don't deserve their team.
This team isn't dirty...and Spurs don't now, nor have they ever cheered the injury of another player...
IF David West had been up in the air and been horse collared by Robert Horry or something...you wouldn't have seen any chanting.
What you saw was an already injured player being taken out on a routine play and Spur fans supporting their player for his play.
It wasn't even hard foul...it was a routine basketball play, albeit a pretty smart one...and the fans letting Horry know they had his back.
And you know what? If Robert Horry was going for his back on that play...more power to him, if West is that injured, he needs to get off the court.
I just wish Parker getting hammered bothered you half as much as Spurs fans cheering one of their own players.
Props, you're the man!![]()
they cut to commercial so only someone who was there would know
assuming that would be you.

I haven't read the thread yet but here are my initial thoughts:
Did Horry know what he was doing? Of course. This is Robert Horry. He's forgotten more about playoff basketball than the entire Hornets team knows combined. You have a gimpy player flying back into your space, you don't move out of the way.
Was it dirty? Eh, not really. It was a borderline foul. The only reason why it got blown up into something more is because West's back is bothering him. But same things have taken place throughout playoff basketball. If Duncan had a bad back, the Hornets would be throwing all types of shots at him.
Speaking of which, the Hornets have gotten in about ten times as many cheap shots this series than the Spurs. That was probably the first even borderline hard foul the Spurs have done all season. The Hornets have been fouling hard, flopping during dead ball situations and basically acting like azzes the whole series. If West isn't clapping in Oberto's face, Paul is getting up trying to fight Horry. Oh and Paul commits an offensive foul on about 50% of his drives to the basket. You don't hear the Spurs ing publicly about Paul's continuous off arm pushoffs.
Smart, veteran move by Horry. The Hornets would have done the same thing ... repeatedly. Sure, I hope West is healthy for Game 7 but doesn't change the fact that Horry serving up some of their own medicine was understandable.
Horry
And if the Hornets didn't want a physical series, they shouldn't be the ones fouling, barking, complaining and dead ball flopping all series long.
Seriously dude? You got some liquid courage in you tonight.
I don't get into this much, but from what I read the past few years, you probably shouldn't be throwing around the " " card.
my dad who is not a spur fan said hornets deserved it
they keep knocking tp down
they got what they deserved
lovin this post.......WOOOOOOOOOOOO
GO SPURS GO
HORRY = MY HERO
If you had read the thread, you could have skipped typing all that up and just said "I agree with everything Spurminator has said."
j/k
Tpark should never EVER EVER ask anyone to turn in their "card" under any cir stances. that .
Spurs are not dirty and I support Horry 100%. From my perspecitive Horry didn't need extra protection or support, because he didn't do anything wrong. That's why being respectful of a hurt player seemed like the right thing to do. Nevertheless, I'm not dwelling on this and could really careless what the world thinks of the Spurs. The play was normal to me. I've seen way worse. If this thread is about defending Rob then I'm 100% down for that program.
Gumboballs is that you?
There are several bags in this thread ready to present this as evidence of the Spurs dirtiness. You have a gimpy player flying back into your space, you don't move out of the way.
LOL...you'll have to excuse them, they are too busy laughing at the Piston Fan, of all fans, on his high horse.
Bud...if karma is to be paid for playing dirty and injuring other players...your team won't be winning another le...ever.
I can't believe a fan of Bill Lambeir's and Dennis Rodman's team is lecturing anyone on karma...
Is Bill Lambeeir's jersey retired in Detroit? If it is...you're a joke. A pathetic one.
Mavs fans applauded guys like Najera,Bell, and Terry, yet condemn Bowen and Horry.......what hypocrits
Nones fans applaud Bell, yet condemn Horry and Bowen....what hypocrits.
Hornets fans condemn Horry and Bowen, yet they applaud West, Paul, Ely, Chandler...what hypocrits
True Lakers fans aren't saying jack. They know about Rob and his game. His game helped them 3peat. Also, they remember how rough the games were with the Showtime Lakers. It wasn't exactly powder puff basketball.
Spurs fans are praising Horry for a solid, clean, intelligent screen. The only reason West hit the floor was cause of his back injury. If he wasn't hurt, he wouldn't have hit the floor. Did they call the foul on Horry? If so, that is completely bogus, cause that was not a foul. That was a legit, low post, playoff screen.
Some of you are soft in the head. That pick from Horry wouldn't even break the top 25 if you made a list of physical fouls in this series. Parker, Ginobili and Duncan have been hit a lot harder than that multiple times during this series. If you look at the entire playoffs including the Cavs-Wiz and Cavs-Celtics this play wouldn't crack the top 100 fouls.
We aren't talking about a smack to the head, or a horse collar or a dangerous push to an airborne guard. Not even close. It was a ing stationary pick: Horry didn't leave his feet, he merely leaned over. With no other player in the league would that have been construed as anything other than a regular foul. Even if West and Horry played out that sequence 10 times, I bet 8 times out of 10 West would be just fine. There just wasn't enough contact to cause an injury there. It was sheer bad luck that West had an existing injury and the contact aggravated a nerve. Not a broken bone, torn muscle, stretched ligament, or strained tendon. A nerve. Horry would have to be a surgeon with lightning quick reflexes to pinch a nerve in a momentary contact like that.
Precisely, which is why I wanted to post so you guys would know that at least some people did clap for West as he left the court.
