Nah, this has been Lanny's misguided schtick for years. He's a pied piper to some Lakers fans, though; he's convinced at least a small segment of that base that the officials are the only thing standing between the Lakers and a 15-peat (or something like that). The Spurs are the 4th best team remaining. Bennett Salvatore is probably the least favorite NBA official on this board if that tells you anything. The Lakers had the best record in the West and have home court advantage, plus the best perimeter player in the world. The NBA rules favor perimeter players. Why shouldn't the Lakers win tonight?

As usual, the league is going to try and manufacture drama by trying to extend this series to the max number of games through the use of corrupt officials.

There is no reason at all we couldn't have an anonymous crew like Bill Spooner, Gary Zielinski and Rodney Mott. Except for the fact that then the game would likely be officiated in an unbiased manner instead of manipulated.

Make the way officials are assigned random and transparent. Once that happens, I will never complain about officiating assignments again.
