So, in a nuts , he's like John Hollinger's brother?
Nah, this has been Lanny's misguided schtick for years. He's a pied piper to some Lakers fans, though; he's convinced at least a small segment of that base that the officials are the only thing standing between the Lakers and a 15-peat (or something like that). [I'm glad to see that the vast majority of Laker fans who responded to Lanny's contentions today in their forum vehemently disagreed with him]
He goes to some lengths to concoct outrageous arguments that have no foundation in fact; when challenged, he resorts solely to his observations, which he will invariably claim are more objective than anyone else's and are somehow rooted in a deeper knowledge of the game than anyone else could possibly have.
If Spurs fans criticize officiating, they're whining; if Lanny criticizes officials, he's simply pointing obvious facts evidencing the league's longstanding conspriacy to keep the Lakers' organization down.
In the end, though it doesn't stop him from making those outrageous and unsubstantiated claims, no matter how illogical they are, Lanny's full of crap when it comes to this subject.

He would be Hollinger if Hollinger decided to never again rely on a shred of information other than his own, biased views and steadfast paranoia.
Now you know how we feel when we see Joey Crawford.![]()
The Spurs are the 4th best team remaining. Bennett Salvatore is probably the least favorite NBA official on this board if that tells you anything. The Lakers had the best record in the West and have home court advantage, plus the best perimeter player in the world. The NBA rules favor perimeter players. Why shouldn't the Lakers win tonight?![]()
Just like in Game 1 right?
This courtesty AngryPuppy at LG:
Before this thread gets hijacked any further, let's get off the soapbox and actually take a quick look at the ref crew:
Tony Brothers
Last 10 games ref'ed w/ San Antonio: 9-1
Last 10 games ref'ed w/ Lakers: 3-7
Ranked #61 out of 62 referees, in terms of favoring the home team. In other words, home team won't get the breaks. In fact, he may be adversarial.
Ken Mauer
Last 10 games ref'ed w/ San Antonio: 10-0
Last 10 games ref'ed w/ Lakers: 7-3
Ranked #57 out of 62 referees, in terms of favoring the home team. In fact, he may be adversarial.
Bennett Salvatore
Last 10 games ref'ed w/ San Antonio: 6-4
Last 10 games ref'ed w/ Lakers: 8-2
Ranked #17 out of 62 referees, in terms of favoring the home team. In other words, there's a moderate bias favoring the the home team.
This is a very bad ref assignment, from a Laker perspective.
Quit your whining .
With Salvatore the Lakers will win easily, look for Timmy Pumpkin and Bruce Lee Bowen to get in foul trouble early in the game.
I bet you 100 bucks
Idiot!
Princess Pimp vs LakerLanny only on a Spurs Board near you.
I question your honesty and motivation. Would you really pay off a losing bet? My guess is no and I am a pretty good judge of character. You have welcher written all over you.
How about this instead? I bet you $100 the *purs shoot more FTs than the Lakers in the first half tonight.
If you are up for it, we need to paypal the money in advance to a neutral 3rd party so you don't welch.
The Spurs shot more free throws in Game 1 and still lost.
So No, the bet is about who is winning the game not the free throw advantage,
LakerPussy already putting together the excuses.
Forget it, I am talking about refs trying to fix the games
Sorry... LakerLanny has been a stain on Spurs boards since 01 or so.
It's not even fair play 5 against 8, all the calls in game 1 were favored to the spurs. these refs are jokes!!!!!!!!![]()
I agree. They missed the call when Tim got fouled but other than that I thought it was very fair and they let them play. No flopping aloud or tolerated.
Trolling, trolling, trolling.....
Tony Brothers is clearly in on the fix. . . . Nice, non-controversial no-call to end the half; particularly after the touch fouls that he gave early to get Fisher and Odom to the line.
Whatever dude!
You see I told you the Lakers would win.
Look for Joey Crawford and Steve Javie (the road ref) for Game 3
