TIMVP if you were doing it who would be cut.

Lets say there are two spots to be had.

I say they take Tolliver Stoudamire.

I would LIKE them to take Tolliver and Hairston.

Ideally, Tolliver, Hairston, Farmer, trade Bonner.
If it were up to me, I'd probably keep Tolliver and Farmer. I'd then try to convince Hairston to go to Austin.

Farmer seems like a guy who is unafraid to come into a playoff game and hit big shots. He's a little bit redundant with the current roster but over the next couple of years, he could build himself into a rotational player.

Stoudamire is a tough cut because the Spurs need scoring and that guy can score. I just don't really like his at ude and he can be pretty damn ballhogish. Hairston is a decent prospect who actually fits well in the long term plan but there are a lot of Hairstons out there that can be had. He doesn't have any unique trait that sets him apart.

It's damn tough, though. It's going to take a lot of hours for Pop and the front office to figure out which way to go.

Yeah, I tried to rob this restaurant the other day and I grabbed Farmer's wallet by mistake.

    +1

I missed the game, couldn't get a feed here at work.

Anybody kind enough to write a quick summary of how the game was for the new guys?

To my mind, it's worth the 1.2 million to have Hairston in Austin and, possibly, Tolliver too. Buy him out, baby.

I would miss Vaughn though. He probably wasn't gonna get any playing time with Hill coming in anyways, but he is a pretty awesome guy.

Yeah while I don't have the full on mancrush everyone else does on Farmer, I like his scoring ability but fear hes a Ron Mercer like scorer and not a Stephen Jackson like scorer.

Tolliver is a definate keeper I can't wait to watch that kid up against the other good lineups, and I think Hairston is worth the roster spot to develop in Austin all year.
It was more directed at the fact you had Bonner gone.

I understand where you are coming from though. Farmer is streaky and his game seems a little unorganized for our system. I know I said earlier in the week I was on the bandwagon for Farmer, but If I was absolutely forced to choose right now I would want Tolliver for now and Hairston for the future...mostly because Hariston seems to have the ability to develop a more well rounded game and he can play the 2 or the 3.

Would really hate to lose out on Stoudamire, I really think he can be that Eddie House off the bench type instant offense.

Maybe the office eggheads can find some way to lump together the two and we'll end up with one useless garbage time player....Macque Vaughner.

Then we can afford to keep all three.

Farmer needs to make this team. The dude has at ude and can shoot. We can teach defense.

Can't argue with that, but, like I said, the thing I would hate is to lose Hairston's rights, and like I said see him develop into a Bonzi Wells type and go off to another team.

Farmer to me just seems a little too one dimensional.

The problem for Stoudamire is that we already have 3 PG's under contract. It's kinda crowded out there. And when Manu comes back we wont even have room at SG either.

Stoudamire's stats indicate he had a poor game...based on your comment, I assume the stats are misleading?

Yeah it seems to me the only thing hes missing is a consistent jump shot, and to me that can easily be had just working out with Chip.

It would be great if Bonner could get moved for picks and Hairston and Farmer were kept.

I just see Farmer getting let go and going somewhere to like Charlotte or Rio Grande Valley.

Dudes shooting on one leg out there and I wouldn't take too much out of it.

The guy's per 48 minutes scoring is pretty damn good .

I think with the other prospects we have he is too one dimensional to waste a roster spot on...and unless we move Vaughn that is just too many short players in our back court for my liking.

Hes not a point guard though. Hes like House in that hes a tweener 1-2.

I see what your saying but I again would hate to lose instant offense in a guy like Stoudamire.

Farmer hit two corner threes. There isn't a spot on the floor this guy can't score from. One dimensional, yes. But so far as single dimensions go, it's a pretty good one.

    Edit: 3 corner threes.

Yeah I see what your saying, but still though, I've seen Stoudamire come in and just bag threes and help the Hawks outbefore.

Copy. It's a judgment call at this point, and it'll be hard to fault Pop whichever direction he goes. But I prefer Hairston and Farmer. It's a great year to have such a solid camp. I'm happy about that.

Yeah the Spurs did their homework this offseason and its been a good one so far no question.

I love the Tolliver signing and think his potential is really exciting.

Between Hairston and Farmer you really can't go wrong.

What would be awesome is to trade Bonner have Hairston develop in Austin and have Farmer on the big league team at the end of the bench ready to come in and score.

Farmer and Hairston need to make this team to me. Tolliver has quick hands but that's about it. Being smarter than Bonner isn't really a plus, since my border collie seems to be more competent with a ball than he is. Willingness to shoot is nice and all, and it will distinguish you among this group that was determined to up fake all night, but Hairston is a far better defender, even against guys with a size advantage on him (anyone else thinking poor man's long three?), and Farmer just looks like the only chance the Spurs have of adding instant offense to the team. Once I found out that he's not as small as I thought he was, I was sold on him. That was before he started pulling the trigger at the end of the game.

    A couple of additional thoughts:

    • The team's eggs are now firmly in the Mahinmi basket. If he doesn't pan out, Tolliver isn't going to help.
    • Bye, Matt. Nice knowin' ya. I recognized that look he gave to the bench after his mistakes. Beno and Elson had it.
    • Finley needs to find a workout program that fixes stupid. Lateral movement doesn't help you when you continue to sag away from your man on the perimeter and take half swats at shooters to give them an extra point.
    • Ime needs his own personal plus minus board, because I can't keep track of his "brilliant play/bonehead play" count in my head.
    • It would have been nice to see how Salim could play if his groin had allowed it. Too bad.
    • I really think Duncan is going to have a monster year. He's putting up numbers at half speed. You look up and suddenly he's just had an impact on the game. Maybe my memory is fading, but it hasn't felt like he's been able to do that so effortlessly in a while.
    • The Wizards are really terrible. As well as they shot and as badly as the Spurs played, you'd have expected the margin never to fall below 20.
    • I think it's time for the "we need more offense" experiment to be abandoned in favor of the "we need to keep playing defense until the shots start falling again" strategy that won four championships. Farmer's worth a flyer for his ability to actually make baskets with no conscience without the defensive liability that goes
      along with it.

It's something that Tolliver out performed Bonner, and received more minutes. Bad shooting nights aside, the kid is pretty far along for one camp.
