I saw some of these numbers earlier today and was a little surprised.

I just want to be sure I have the numbers right. We gave McDyess around 4.5 million of the MLE and then used some of the remaining MLE to sign Blair so the Spurs still have the Full LLE? is that right?
May I ask that how can you tell Spurs used the remaining MLE to sign Blair? I don't understand the rules on this part.

There was a lot of talk that Dice's price was very similar to Rasheed Wallace, which was the full mid-level exception. According to ShamSports, here's the contract Sheed got:

    2009-10: $5,854,000
    2010-11: $6,322,320
    2011-12: $6,790,640 (player option)

    Notes:

Rasheed Wallace: Signed a three year contract for the full value of the Mid Level Exception ($18,966,960) in July 2009. Contract has a 15% trade kicker.

Haislip's contract is the most interesting.

Most of us assumed he was a lock for the team but it doesn't look that way at all. If he doesn't pan out then it's a good bet they hold on to Bonner.

All this Haislip hype is unbelievable. A new low has been reached.
Any recent Haislip scouting report from Solid D? Do you think he is worth the LLE?

I'm trying to find some game footage to give a non-YouTube scouting report.
I saw him play once this year and he is better than he was 3-4 years ago but I don't know if he would be able to defend the Scolas, Nowitzkis or even the Brandon Bass' of the NBA world. I would sign him to a make-good and see how he plays in camp/pre-season if I were RC.
I'll assume you don't agree with his 2-year, $4M contract then

And I just want to mention that it's still too early to judge.

If Celtics won the championship next season, the Rasheed signing still >>>>>>>>>> Dyess signing.

I'm feeling way too damn good that we divided MLE signing Blair and Dice with some partially-guaranteed years.

May I ask that how can you tell Spurs used the remaining MLE to sign Blair? I don't understand the rules on this part.
Second round picks do not have a rookie scale. So they are basically free agents in which case the team that drafted him has his NBA rights. Moat players take the min. But since Blair is making more than the min. He must have either dipped into the LLE or the remaining MLE. Now if the Spurs were under the cap they could sign second round draft picks with that money instead.

I'm posting on my phone so my thoughts are not as in order as I would like but I hope I answered your question.
To expand, if second round picks get more than the minimum salary, that money must come from either cap space, the MLE, or the LLE. The Spurs have no cap space, so that is not an option. The LLE can only be used for contracts up to 2 years in length, and since Blair signed a 4-year contract, the money must have come from the MLE.

    Nice exposition.

McDyess + Blair still isn't the full MLE, surprisingly. If these figures are correct, there's still $500K of the MLE left. This means the Spurs have about $1M more in cash (not cap space) than we thought they would, due to the luxury tax.

McDyess and Blair were steals for those prices, IMO, especially Blair. The 50% guarantee on McDyess in 2011-2012 will make that contract very tradeable. Great work, FO! And thanks to Bruno and ShamSports for the info!

    Sham has changed his notes.
The player who has $50K guaranteed is Hairston and not Haislip.
Haislip with $50K guaranteed was really surprising.

IMO, Haislip salary is fully guaranteed.

That makes more sense financially for Haislip.

We do have the LLE to sign Bowen, what we lack is the roster spot. I guess we could straight up cut Williams.
    Hope so.
