What were you & Pop expecting, an all-star? He played great defense every time his number was called, and managed to score some points on the side. That's all the spurs really need him to do. He would have been better than Blair in the starting lineup by a longshot.

Splitter is a bust. Weak defensively, his biggest defensive move is taking charges, can't jump, can't protect the rim, is a poor rebounder for his size and has no offensive game outside of 5 feet from the basket. A BUST.

Another effect of this rumor is that it raises Hill trade value. Spurs being ready to trade their 3 times all star, 3 times NBA champion, NBA final MVP and starter for 10 years to make Hill a starter is a huge trade value boost for Hill.

I won't go as far as saying that Spurs have made up trade rumors around Parker to raise Hill's trade value but Spurs could receive for Hill better offers they have received in the past.

I think Bruno's theory must be very close to the truth.

Spurs want to trade Hill. They send signals that they are to trade Parker (which makes a lot of sense given his current situation--playoffs, mouthing off, extracurricular activities...). The Spurs start to receive some offers for Parker, some of them quite good. In the meanwhile Hill's value goes up. However the Spurs never wanted to trade Parker in the first place, so they add RJ to any Parker deal, knowing nobody will take them up on that offer (and so far, nobody has indeed). Then they let everybody know that since option #1 (trading Parker +RJ) isn't working out, they are open to option #2 (trading Hill), which was actually their option #1 all along, but with which they might manage to gouge some team by pretending they really didn't want to trade Hill.

It was a good deal for both parties. As much as I loved Hill at first he wasnt getting much better. Both Leonard and Hill are risks.

The fact still remains that Parker wouldnt bring in much more than that.

Like I said last summer, and the summer before, spurs ain't winning any more championships built around the Big 3. should have traded Manu and TP when they were still worth something, now it's more about dumping salary, manu's only got 2 more years, might as well eat that contract and keep the rabid manu fanbase. but TP should still be moved for cheaper younger guy(s) or picks

Of course it makes sense. Pop always chooses the safe route. He's perfectly happy sticking all his money into the .04% interest checking account and raving about the twelve dollars he made at the end of the year.

On those rare occassions he's feeling a bit ballsy that day (probably after a few glasses of wine) he'll go out on a limb and take a "calculated" risk, which
usually just means playing a slightly different version of the safe route, and which almost always backfires. Pop is and always has been a spineless, nutless pussy.

These are the kind of bone head things he say to the media that gets his ass in trouble. WTF would you broadcast what was said to you in private thru the media, that does nothing but lessen the Spurs ability to use this tactic in future trades. Thats what rubs me wrong with him, this is classic of him putting his "feelings" before the good of the team. Just STF up dude!
