Argentina is possibly the most talented team out there.

All they need is a world class defender with leadership abilities and a good coach.
Too bad Bielsa Marcelo is not available. Do you guys know if he's interested in the job?

it's clear Arg weak point is the defense. That has no fix this compe ion. They will have to roll with what they got. Someone mentioned the Phoenix Suns. Yeah, they will have to play like the Suns and hope their offense will carry them.

Pastore El Flaco will come in and will give them a boost in the midfield. They should be able to beat any team except monster defenses like Brasil, Paraguay.

Bielsa had a terrible showing in the Korea/Japan World cup and after winning Olympic Gold got fed up with the BS from Grondona (the soccer federation president).

I will put this excerpt from IMHO one of the best comments said in the internets from an argentine:

it's time to wake up to reality. Argentina is just another mediocre latin team just like Colombia, Mexico, Ecuador, Chile.

Any of those teams can beat each other any given time. Don't worry El Che sees Argentina making at least the semi finals.
Not sure if I completely agree with the underlined portion..Tevez and Aguero are damn elite players, any country would love to have them available. And the Messi crap is bull , everyone who says he hasn't played to his abilities for Argentina are misleading. They imply it's he that hasn't brought it for the team, when really it's been no different than what he does at Barca. He misses easy goals for Barcelona too, but for that club it doesn't matter much because they always have the ball and create tons of scoring opportunities against any opponent. Messi still plays his ass off for Argentina, it's simply an overall inferior team to Barcelona (as is any other team, club or national, in the world). For Argentina, Messi has to do everything, he's the only one who can consistently advance the ball and has to drop way back to receive passes. It's no wonder he doesn't capitalize as much for his national team as he does for his club..by the time he gets in scoring range he's probably exhausted from everything he had to do to lead to the play.

Riquelme. that was my boy. He would be doing his magic with this squad. He is the main reason Argentina has won something in the last 10 years (olympics)
Riquelme is an overrated, slow ass pile of , and has been for at least half a decade. He frustrated me a lot back in the 06 World Cup.

this tournament is exposing that messi=god bull
Yup. Totally correct on that one. This tournament has proven Messi is not the best player in the world. Cristiano Ronaldo, David Villa, and Wayne Rooney would all do better with the same exact roster.

messi is getting killed by the argentine media and public already.

They are calling for him to go back to Spain and never come back
That's not a surprise because the Argentine media and public are ing re ed, in general.

lol @ disapproving of Messi because his non-forward teammates suck total
lol @ go back to Spain trash talk
lol @ multiple clubs (like River... LOL River) having the chance to sign the best player in the world
lol @ any of said clubs wish they took on his medical bills, because they could have sold his ass to Spain for a load of money
    lol re s

the Argentina team of 2006 did not lose a game. They lost in penalties to the host, Germany.

that's 100000x better than tying with Bolivia and Colombia in home turf

Oh, ok. Got ya. The difference is completely due to the lack of Riquelme.

That team was better overall. The defense was stronger and the coaching was clearly WAY superior. Javier Saviola played well that tournament, as did many of the Argentina players. Messi and Tevez came off the bench and wreaked havoc immediately once on the pitch. They didn't score a ton of goals, but they put a lot of pressure on other teams. The team was overall more balanced, and I thought the team could have gone all the way, especially against Italy in the semis...but that German team always ends us. Argentina only gave up 3 goals in 5 games in that WC...and remember, their opponents were Holland, Ivory Coast (06 "group of death), Serbia & Montenegro, Mexico, and Germany.

There are many more qualified argentine coaches: russo, bianchi, diaz, pekerman, even someone like cuper or caruso are more qualified than batista, and would get more out of these players. Since 06 argentina hasnt had the players to be a WC contender, but we still have enough to be a dark horse and certainly enough to win a copa america considering that brazil is rebuilding, paraguay hasnt been the same since cabañas got shot, etc. this is just a shameful display and it starts with the coach, there's a reason no one on earth plays a triple-5 midfield but this idiot thinks he is going to reinvent the wheel
You Mean Caruso Lombardi? You're kidding right?, He already said that if he was the NT coach he would leave Messi on the bench, thanks but no.

Costa Rica winning is good for us, now our future is in our hands (I don't know if that's a good thing though).

An no, we can draw and still qualify as one of the two best thirds, Italy style.

    lmao Italy

    lmao Argentina

Put any other player instead of Messi in this team and they wouldn't do any better, taking Messi away is taking away the only offense Argetina can generate.
