We killed over 1,000,000 innocent Iraqis. That's genocide.
How many innocent Japanese do you think were killed in Hiroshima and Nagasaki?

    Oh but WWII was honorable.

Who's this "we" now? I thought you were Canadian already in heart and mind?

And I'm curious to see where you got this number from. I'm guessing you're referring to the study that talked about how 1m more people died than WOULD have due to the conditions that became implemented, which is obviously different than the US directly killing 1m.

Care to provide the source to prove me wrong?

For someone who doesn't support the Iraq War, this is a really cool essay defending it
Reading comprehension fail. Tell me where I defended the Iraq War in the above paragraph, please. I mean, right at the top I say:

Will it be looked at as a foolish incursion, spending valuable blood, time and money when the US could've used it here? Yup.

Perhaps you didn't read that part.

The Nazis didn't directly kill all 6,000,000 Jews. Plenty of Jews died because of the conditions the Nazis implemented. Doesn't mean they don't take blame for those Jews who died of "natural causes"

    Good point.

Care to elaborate on how dropping two nukes on populated cities wasn't genocide, DoK?

That part is the equivalent of Lakerfan writing a 3 paragraph bull piece about all the reasons why Kobe > Jordan, then saying "don't get me wrong, I still think Jordan > Kobe" to avoid looking like an idiot.

You've gotta be kidding me right?

Japan was responsible for actual attacks on America, Pearl Harbor, the Islands off the coast of Alaska, etc. They were an actual threat with plans to occupy America.

Iraq never attacked and was never gonna attack America.

Except Germany had a much more organized infrastructure than Iraq did. Were there terrorists greatly adding to the death toll numbers during WWII?

    FWIW, here are some numbers:

    WWII: http://www.ushmm.org/wlc/en/article....uleId=10005469

In all, the Germans and their collaborators killed between 160,000 and 180,000 German Jews in the Holocaust, including most of those Jews deported out of Germany.
Iraq War: Per http://www.iraqbodycount.org/database/ we're somewhere around 103K to 113K civilian deaths. IraqBodyCount counts all violent deaths.

Were the citizens who worked in those cities responsible? What about the farmers working in the field? Is he responsible too? How many of the Japanese people would've been directly involved in the war efforts?

Defending the role of the military and the soldiers put in those positions =/= defending the Iraq War

I would've thought you smart enough to grasp the distinction.

Here's the difference. An invasion of Japan without use of the A-bomb would have cost easily over 1,000,000 American lives. It would have been 10x worse than Normandy Beach and getting Germany to surrender. The A-bomb was basically saving American lives in exchange for Japanese lives.

The Iraq War was a war waged by America that shoulda never been started.

Wait wait wait, so you're saying it's ok to kill innocent civilians now, as long as it saves American lives?

    Absolutely.

It sucks for the other side, but I want my army doing what's necessarily to protect my country.

That's why, with all due respect, the U.S shouldn't spend a cent on "stopping" all those genocides. There's always one going on somewhere, and our involvement always comes back to bite us in the ass.

It sucks for the other guy, but hey, life ain't fair.

When they're civilians of a country threatening America, yes.

    Iraq wasn't threatening America.

The death of innocent people is an atrocity no matter what, but at least in WW2 there was some justification. The Japanese had already attacked the United States, killed innocent lives there, and would stop at nothing to win. They were fighting dirty, so the US fought dirty too.

War is an incredibly childish and stupid thing to begin with, and with that in mind, "they started it" is a perfectly justifiable excuse for using whatever means necessary to win against the Japanese.

There is no such excuse to justify going into Iraq, unless "we have our own sandbox, but their sandbox has lots of valuable hidden underneath it, so let's systematically invade and control that area. We'll start with the country who has a bat crazy dicator who hasn't done anything to us as an excuse!" works for you.

What's funny is watching the brigade filter in when one of theirs is getting his pushed in.

    It goes like this:

    DoK
    Mono
    Axe
    Frodo
    .
    .
    .
    TC (under which ever name)
    Rogue
