I severely sprained my ankle playing high school ball in a tourney. My ankle swelled up to a grapefruit, and I played the 10am game the next morning. Granted, both my ankles permanently look like grapefruits now , but Kobe is not the only one that plays though it "for the love of the game". I'm sure plenty others on this board have similar stories.
I dont think it was a severe sprain if you were able to not just walk but play the next morning, . Ive rolled my ankle a bunch of times and been fine but one time I sprained it pretty bad...looked like a baseball. I was on crutches for almost a week, and didnt walk without a limp for 2-3 weeks.

Nothing I can do can prove to you it was severely sprained, but it was. I did limp for weeks. But with the adrenaline from the game i played through it. Thats why I'm telling you these s in the NBA are some soft es.

Its cool if you don't believe me. After all, we're on the interwebs.

Edit: For what's its worth, I do think Kobe was one of the toughest dudes in the NBA, especially by todays standards. What I didn't like about Kobe was him bringing up injuries suddenly after losses, they somehow leaking through the media. Sure, he exaggerated injuries to the media, but that doesn't take away from the fact that he gave it a go in the Indiana game, and played at a high level after that with a bum wheel. Props to him.

    But he's still a diva.

It would be totally irresponsible to rush himself back that quickly. If he tries to expedite his recovery process in order to play opening day, he risks reaggravating the injury. He'd be in' stupid to not sit out at least til January.

It's you who needs to stop googling and reading about players like Terrell Suggs and David Beckham, both of whom bounced back relatively quickly from their Achilles injuries. Suggs had a partial tear and plays a much slower paced sport. Beckham did have a complete tear, but plays in a sport that demands much less athleticism. A more comparable example is Chauncey Billups, who took a year to recover from a partial tear. But yeah, Kobe is this near-divine specimen that possesses superhuman qualities and will recover from one of the most severe injuries in sports in just a few months.

Kobe trying to be a "warrior" is why he got hurt in the first place, so for the sake of you mouth breathing re s who worship him, let's hope he learned from his mistake.
you want to bet? be back Dec 1st or sooner.

Don't you worry bout a dam thang lil homie...Those German doctors that fixed Kobe's knees will inject his ankle area with all kinds of stem cells and enriched blood platelets he'll straddle the line of PED experimentation but he won't cross the line...I'm expecting him to be good as new...

    worried... please..

Rest him up for next season no biggie.

Here we go. Before the season, LA "fans" were saying how stacked and powerful this team was. Now that they woefully underachieved, LA "fans" shift their expectations to fit their excuses. Unless you are saying the gap between Tim and Kobe is gigantic in favor of Tim, there has to be another reason LA failed considering not only did Tim have to deal with key players being injured every bit as much as Kobe, but Tim had his minutes managed to 30 MPG and was still fighting for the 1 seed while LA was scrapping to get the 8th which might not even happen.

Are you educated? Honest question. Other than that, every ing person who watches basketball from LA to Beijing was hyped up about the lakers. respectfully so they added some fire power, and had high expectations, who wouldnt. Every analyst on TV (probably minus simmons) was picking the lakers to come out of the west. Now are you telling me that a coaching change, and a barrage of injurie have nothing to do with their record. This isnt ing pick up ball, im sure it takes time to figure out who is going to be where, at what spot etc. If you fail to recognize these two points, then my case is closed and catch ya on the flip side.

You can throw the injury card out the window:

Kobe Bryant 78 Tim Duncan 67
Dwight Howard 74 Tony Parker 64
Pau Gasol 47 Manu Ginobili 59
Steve Nash 50 Kawhi Leonard 56
Ron Artest 73 Tiago Splitter 79
    TOTAL 322 TOTAL 325

Then chemistry? That one variable with that much talent? It's nothing but excuses and if you believe that the difference in chemistry (which the Spurs have plenty of still new rotation players and key guys missing a ton of games too) is the best in the West and a non-playoff team, Kobe should never be mentioned as a top 10 player.

I read today that the Spurs top 4 scorers have only played 28 games together this season. Pretty awesome effort from the Spurs to still be competing for the number 1 seed.

lol, I don't want to hear any of that. Lakers fans got upset with me when I said in October that I didn't think you're better than OKC, Miami or the Spurs. I said you might be better on paper, but that you'd have to prove it on the court, and that I wouldn't give you any props until you proved it. A lot of you guys back then still thought you were a lock (even though a lot of the players had never played together).

Now you guys are trying to make excuses by saying you weren't able to play much together. I think it was pure on court chemistry issue (Kobe being the main culprit). I'd never want to play with him. I actually think that you guys could be decent without him, but not sure if 2 games before the playoffs is enough to build any cohesion.

2 things: They didn't play that many games together, so that chemistry doesn't really apply. MIA made the NBA finals in their first season. So much for chemistry.

ok so that was your opinion, and i guess u could say your right.. but you saying the word cohesion contradicts your whole argument imho.

are u for real? you have had the same core for ever. first of they ing lost. how about the wade/james suck fest. thats got to help chemistry. Did miami have a coaching change? were the injured all season?

How so? I didn't know that you would be this bad even without the team chemistry. I didn't think you were better than any of the top three teams until you proved it on the court. Now that the season is almost over, I think it came down to team chemistry. I know you guys will say it was the injuries, and what am I talking about now that I mentioned cohesion, but the games that they did play together, it just seems that the chemistry was never truly there for most of the season. Kobe just never bought the team together as evidenced by both Gasol and Dwight taking subtle jabs at him throughout the season (even as recently as last week).
