This is a terrific pick up in the short term. If I'm not mistaken, he has Championship experience too, which can't hurt. With a better team around him, I see him doing pretty darn well in our system. While the Spurs could use length, athleticism and defense at the 3, I just don't see what options are available.
My pipe dream would have been some sort of trade with Denver to acquire Wilson Chandler but we don't have any worthwhile pieces Denver would want. That, and I don't think they would even consider a trade. That dude plays with at ude and would have been a nice piece coming off the bench.
Of Parker, Joseph, De Colo and Mills, Brown can't really be any worse of a defender than any of them. Unlike Joseph and De Colo, he's a legit NBA player, he's tall and athletic enough to actually put in minutes at the 2 spot, and he's likely hungry for a chance to establish himself on a team. Best possible signing for the Spurs.
Addition by subtraction. We literally paid to get rid of him. Shannon, Beasley and Kendall Marshall were chemistry killers last year. Knucklehead, low basketball IQ. Wasn't wanted or needed. He thinks he's Kobe lite.
He's taking over the George Hill role tbh.
I guess spurstalk forgot basketball is a contact sport...
I guess it's a good temporary fit until Green and Manu come back.
The L.A. Times have been reduced to publishing articles like this . .

I like the signing. If its one thing the Spurs struggled to do the other night with a depleted roster was score. Shannom Brown has been on good NBA teams and even has championship experience. The guy has also shown the ability to score. And like many others have mentioned here hes probably motivated as right now...
He becomes arguably the most athletic player on the roster.
lol that should say how much we lack in that department, tbh
The Spurs have many pieces but are unwilling to part with anything of value.
Who remembers this from last year?

Nah, Kawhi is more athletic but not by much. After that, yes, he's more athletic than anyone else on the team.
Keyword: arguably
Yeah, I understood well, I was just giving my thoughts on it.
TE I thought you were dead man, did you hear about that shooting at Gamehaus?
All this signing, Injruies etc means nothing if POP continues to ignore the most obvious adjustment tbh.
Spurs fan getting exited about this season..
Pop and his son are both stubborn as ..I don't see this team getting past the first round with or without injuries.
Inb4 Church of Shannon thread..
I like him...not sure if it is the best move for the Spurs...but...why not! I little Flight School would be fun for ones.
Finally something to get pumped about! I must admit, watching the Spurs lately has been "painful"
Thinking more about it, if he does work out, he could be a nice trade piece. If the spurs decide to give him a second 10 day. Which I think is highly probable.
Kawhi isn't really all that athletic. His height and reach helps him a lot.
Yeah. That place sucks tbh. I've been there twice and I regret it. It's in a semi-ghetto area of McAllen. If you go you have to go with a bigger group. There's a lot of really ghetto pussy Mexicans that will mad-dog anybody.
