Don't know why the guest team signed role players to big contracts, if they're really set to tank.

That's not a bad deal for Shumpert, tbh
definitely
5yr/80m was the price that the top dogs like Lebron got after their rookie contracts were up back in the 2000s tbh.
Virtually all of the Cavs' deals were terrible, but obviously it wasn't strictly about basketball..
Jackson's deal looks bad, but you have to overpay players to play in Detroit, same with Carroll to the Raptors..
The Wes Matthews deal is pretty bad IMO, but I guess the Mavs didn't really have a choice.
I was just saying that they are 2 undersized pg's, shouldn't have said similar players.
What's gone on with Tristan Thompson, tbh? I hear LeBron threatened to leave if the Cavs don't re-up him.
I said in another thread that no contract this summer should be surprising or laughable. None of them really are. When you factor how the salary cap will raise to nearly $90 million the following season and is projected to be over $100 million the season after, these contracts aren't going to seem that bad after this season even if the players don't live up to expectation. And with most contracts having 4 years max as opposed to the 7 year deals they used to sign a few years ago before the most recent CBA, we're not talking about longterm crippling impact like the contracts of Rashard Lewis or Gilbert Arenas. I mean, you can call pretty much 98% of NBA contracts ridiculous by any measure. But taking into consideration a lot of things, a very rare few that have been signed this off season are as bad as many think.
As for Reggie Jackson, I didn't want the Pistons to re-sign him at all. I'm not much of a fan. But Harlem was right the Pistons probably needed to overpay to keep him. And if you look at his stats once he came to Detroit and started, he was putting up 19 points, 9 assists, 5 rebounds. Small sample size, but if the Pistons front office believe that's the type of production he can consistently bring going forward, then compare that to guys like Goran Dragic and Brandon Knight and the contract seems rather commensurate to the likely market value.
Reggie Jackson is 6'3 with a 7 foot wingspan. If you were comparing him to Thomas with respect to size, it's inaccurate.
I hate Reggie Jackson's game, but he was semi-impressive down the stretch, tbh, and he's under 25 years old IIRC..
Van Gundy has proven he can regularly get the best out of his players, he did it with Jennings before his injury, I don't think it's that bad of a deal considering it's tough to attract Free Agents to Detroit..
You can't sign proven stars every year, and you can't tank every year..it's not easy for teams like the Pistons..
aron baynes comes to mind. for a 4th big, thats too expensive
yeah, 6-3 with 7-0 wingspan is clearly undersized for a pg
I hate Reggie's game too. I think he spent too much time with Westbrook because he plays a lot like him, except he's not as talented. He puts up numbers, but in a very selfish manner. Even his assists aren't a product of being unselfish, but him looking for highlight plays and a product of him dominating the ball so much. I actually liked the way Brandon Jennings was playing after the Josh Smith release a lot. And when Jennings was off with his shot, he didn't take a lot of attempts but would still be engaged, still made plays. I think Jennings was starting to "get it" before the achilles injury.
I could have sworn he was 6 foot or 6'1". Oh well haha. Reggie does play the game terribly. He thinks he needs to be on the man on the team, but definitely does not have the talent to do so.
are you sure you're not confusing him with someone else tbh, because he is pretty much known as "just a physical specimen" with no consistent jumper. Which is why i thought your comparison is weird since IT is a smurf with a killer shot and great handles.
Ummm, David West 1 year 1.5 million?
Aaron Baynes was a bad contract.......
T.Chandler comes in 2nd.
David West's contract is the most outrageous but in a different way
The Mavericks giving 4 years $80 million to a 6'11 center with no offensive talent and a overrated defender is definitely the worst.
But I heard that Demonkey has reneged on his previous agreement and decided to stay in LA?
This show in Houston tops the list. Might be one of the most talked about signing events in NBA history...for all the wrong reasons of course.![]()
Houston is a city of and shame. If I were Cuban I'd rather throw all my money into the Mexican Gulf than pay a ing dime for a Houston native tbh.
The worst one has to be Cory Joseph getting 30 mil for 4 years... 7.5 mil for a 3rd string player is pretty wack.
