RC said he's staying with the team. If he's that raw he's getting on the same regimen as CoJo and Anderson. D'league duty his first season and will get a chance to make the roster his second season but will have to compete with others and earn it.
I kinda hope the team keeps a fourth PG so Murray can pretty much stay in Austin full time. But after the d-league season is over, I hope they give him minutes. He can play the two, and right now only Simmons is in his way for minutes there. And he has the tools to be a great defender for his position. I don't think the team can afford for him to be three years away. After next season, he'll be in the rotation.

I'm not an Anderson hater, at all, I've rarely said anything bad about him..however, when you look back at all the tweets and "grades" articles from credible outlets, everybody was showering praise on the Spurs for yet another "steal"

It's still possible that Kyle will become a nice player, I've seen flashes, but he certainly hasn't shown enough to call him a steal, yet(and yes, I'm aware that you can't expect anything from the #30 pick in the draft)..
I think the definition of a steal for spurfan is quite high. If at 30 you get a rotation player you got a good deal. Guys taken around Kyle's spot have busted hard. Off the top of my head I have CJ Wilcox, a strict specialist. He was touted as the best shooter in that draft. Went to the clippers who love shooting. One would guess that with their need for perimeter players injuries and all, by now this guy would have put up a good string of games right?
Nope. I guess ppl expect all star type talent that is where they get sidetracked.

What about Kawhi? All rookies don't do Dleague.
kawhi played in a short season. If it were a full season the odds of him going to Dleague would be higher.

He's going to be riding buses in the D-League & flying w/ the team on road trips. He's essentially taking K-Mart's spot.
Team needs another perimeter defender. They can't keep pretending like Simmons is one. If he can hassle guards for a few minutes, he'll get those minutes. But as I was just saying to SAG, I hope the team just keeps him in Austin all next season.

Dude is gonna be a PG the majority of his career. Too small for the 2.

I am completely stoked for this pick and did not see it coming at all. Didn't think Murray would fall that far in the draft and wow! Love what I am hearing from him and his approach, body language says it all.

Looking at his shot it looks like he lacks consistency with his mechanics.. It's telling on that video with Simmons where he short arms the first one and his elbow goes out a little bit, after that shot he corrects his mistake and starts lifting that elbow above his eye line.

I can totally see him going into practice with the Spurs and putting Parker in a spin cycle but it's his decision making that will make and break him for this season, that is to say if he will get actual minutes depending on if he makes smart passes and stays in control.

Better than Parker.. At least when Murray misses shots he can blame it on his broken shot.

Seriously, people were repping him because he has "NBA athleticism". You know who else has NBA athleticism? Pretty much every NBA player.
    Even Anderson and Bonner?

Geez, am I the only one who hasn't given up on Anderson? I thought he was solid enough for a 22 year-old in his 2nd season. Think he'll be a solid role player for the bench unit, which is all you can really ask for from a 30th pick.
I'm rolling with sagirl and you. I just know that UCLA tried to play him off the ball and their season didn't turn around until the ball was put in his hands and he was made point. That's what he is, he's a facilitator.

KA is trash. Dude has shown zero promise in his first couple of seasons. Dude will be out of the nba when his contract is up.

Isaiah cousins, Payton and Ibeh are players I want on our summer league if they go undrafted.
Hopefully, RC picks up Gary Payton II. He's an NBA ready defender & can be the 3rd string PG ala CoJo. Basically, K-Mart/Andre would be upgraded by Murray/GP II.

Does he like to run his mouth like his old man? Because if he does, no way in the Spurs get him.

I see what you see in terms of our timeline.
Its funny bc CoJo played for us 4 years and was always a third string PG bc his timeline coincided with years Tony was still effective and Mills was the better fit next to Manu. His last season he played a lot with everyone injured and it worked for him bc he got paid, but we could not keep him.

Now all of a sudden our backcourt went to and Mills is not the guard we need without others to make plays off the dribble for him and find him cutting and such.
Our timeline got stretched and the youth we are getting now is on a much tighter schedule, even Anderson. He was lucky to have the time he had to get ready too. Boris coast-a-rama was already gifting him minutes and now we are about to have a lot younger guys next to him. I can see why Pop still wants Diaw for that reason. The bigger the role, the harder Pop will be on him. I always think of Danny and how he gets roasted, and how Tony got roasted back in the day. Pop is about to pop a vein with all these youngsters.

He's actually a pretty reserved dude like CoJo.

Just as well, it would've been annoying having to hear his dad about his son not getting minutes.

Don't watch college ball but from the videos and interviews, I'm stoked. He's a tall aggressive creative 19 yr old pg that plays with a chip on his shoulder. He's even got the penetrating instincts we need and looks like he is willing to work on the rest with the team best equipped to teach him. Whats not to love about this pick?

I expect Murray to take the EXACT same route as Cojo did..question is was who was the better player coming into the NBA? Cojo had a slow start..Murray will get a shot to play next year but it will be quick and over fast lol

Spurs draft pick Dejounte Murray was one of two freshman to average 16 points, 5 rebounds & 4 assists, along with LSU's Ben Simmons.

Murray has a way higher upside than CoJo (or Kyle Anderson).
