Doesn't matter if Manu's contract has an impact on team's cap space or not. It's the fact of still relying on 40 years old players/giving them contracts "because loyalty", instead of getting younger, faster, more athletic with proven NBA guys -not a bunch of rookies like this summer-.
The Spurs' backcourt in playoffs will be composed by a point guard who would excel as a PG backup coming off the bench but he will start "because loyalty=he-will-retire-as-Spur/his-contract-doesn't-allow-to-sign-an-elite-PG". And a 40 years old SG who can't stay in front of faster/elite guards anymore but he will play 20 minutes against them " 'cause loyalty=etc/etc..."
It doesn't seem a winning formula.
