The NBA has pretty much given up on the conservative base of America. The majority of the NBA fan base is liberal hence why Silver and NBA tries hard to market towards that base. Pop is actually not hurting himself business wise when you consider that.

I remember David Robinson being a huge Pro-Bush guy in '03 when it came to the Iraq War. Robinson condemned anybody who was against the war by saying they were unpatriotic for not supporting the president. I was one of those people who were anti-war and thought it was stupid of him to say that but I still had no problems rooting for the Spurs.
