$55k in taxes, did you make more than that pre-tax?

    lol

    I did pretty well overall

If President Trump keeps his promise to massively lower tax on the middle class, you will be banking even more.

And yet you still have problems with women. Something is really wrong with you, man.

Sorry, that wasn't me, but this is:

Oh, I forgot state income taxes:

How many made more than the $73k+ I paid in taxes last year?
    Splits

I paid more in state taxes than you did, you can guess what state I'm in

It's great that you made so much (happy for you), bad that you paid so much tax (maybe get a new accountant), (at that income) shouldn't there be more taxes from capital gains/dividends/rental income from other investments (maybe get a financial planner) and well, I'll refrain from commenting on you making this thread.
And if you do get a financial planner, make sure he/she is FIDUCIARY. BTW, thank you so much whoever fixed my phishing problem - it's so nice to switch from screen to screen now.

I did. Sucks for you to be $17K lighter due to state taxes. Obviously, you're not working in Texas.

Is it CA? Sucks - 40% off the top of dd's housing stipend. She and her friends hope to eventually end up in Seattle - CA is a killer for taxes and housing - no matter how nice the weather is.

Should probably be paying a bit more at the federal level, my blended rate was under 25% when you include income/SS/Medicare and I'm in the top 5% of earners. The SS cap is ridiculous, over half my income was exempt, lift it and SS is solvent for eternity. Again, top 5% earner and would have only cost me $7k. Even including a high income-tax state like MD, my total taxes are under 32% and I haven't even filed yet, I usually get ~$8k back.

I did. Had a very good year, fortunately. This year is looking even better, knock on wood.

Getting my taxes done at the moment, we'll see what the hit is...

Congrats, BTW. Gotta ride that wave while it's there...

I still have to write the feds a check for another $248.

I do that purposely though. I'm not giving them an interest free loan!

    I pay them every year.

I agree with this mindset, but sometimes it's unavoidable. I changed jobs this year and had a month of accrued vacation on my last paycheck at my old job and taxes on that check were withheld using the assumption that paycheck was my normal income.

I'm also getting a decent sized bonus this year and taxes on that are going to be withheld the same way.

We caught a damn $10,000 penalty that's accruing interest because they said my wife didn't file. Even though it's clear we filed a joint return. It's been going on for 3 years.
