All this effort to push diversity should be put into shoring up the very reasons WHY (stumbling blocks) there is not diversity in the first place (in the education/employment areas - it's not just in politics but particularly in the tech field). IMO, that starts at a very young age - give (FREE to) every child (at age 2-3) some kind of device that "books on tape" or whatever new technology version of that is - can be played on and stock with age appropriate children's classics (and I don't mean the politically correct BS that's required in public schools). I'm talking about nursery rhymes, Dr. Seuss, traditional children's classics).
Continue to stock these books all the way up through middle school - Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, Twilight, etc - if they won't read, play them in the car. Just listening will help with vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure/writing, etc. Stop trying to teach critical thinking to elementary kids - instead develop a love of reading/books and enjoyment. Stress reading - comic books, cereal boxes, whatever results in volume reading. Concentrate on BASIC math - addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals and percents. Do not try to dazzle PARENTS with statistics, graphs or whatever new-fangled terminology just to impress them. If you do just that in the elementary ages, you'll save millions of $ and IMO, have better educated kids - they will have the math foundation and reading skills to do ALL other subjects at a fraction of what is being spent now.
