The bottom line is this.
Anytime ya deal with historical persons rather real or fictious you must stay with reality. You cannot just make stuff up to satisfy yourself. Sure Batman, Superman, Thor, The Hulk, Jack Reacher, Dave Robicheaux, Casper the Ghost are fiction but they still have a history. You can't just do whatever you want to do.
Robert E. Howards Conan was born on a battlefield, he lived in Cimmeria. He was big and strong, and was fearful of magic, his God was Crom. He was a man of few words he was more about action. You don't ignore all that so you can make a movie. Conan isn't black, there were no blacks in Cimmeria they lived in Kush.
In the world of the sword & sorcery novel it gets no bigger than the 12 books Robert E. Howard wrote about his barbaric hero, you don't mess with this. it's too big. Far bigger than some movie.
King Kong survives the planes and crawls down off the Empire State Building, why not....right? The last we hear he and Ann are living happily back on Skull Island.
