They likely have a profound effect since they're negative feedback loop echo chambers where hate and even murder of the "other" is normalized and even celebrated. But the "solution" will be a draconian policing of freedom of speech, which I don't think anyone wants. I've stated in another thread that modern day America is in the middle of a mental health and addiction crisis never before seen in the country, the former of which being amplified by the Internet. The current social reality isn't the same as the 1950s social reality where there was a certain pastoral charm to a 12 year old living in the Midwest getting his first 22 rifle and using it to innocently plink cans or shoot his first turkey for dinner.
When the social reality changes, the laws need to change. Hard age minimum of at least 22 for all firearm purchases, starting with a tier 1 one license that allows for purchase of shotguns and single shot rifles. You prove yourself a responsible owner of your first gun for a year, you qualify for a tier 2 license, allowing for purchase of hand guns. Something to that effect.
