your ur plan is nice and all if he stays healthy... If he blows a knee which has a good probability to happen your / his plan go to the toilet. I'm a financial guy so by definition risk adverse so for me resigning asap would be a good choice other alternative I have the brain of a chimp which is also a possibility

If his knee blows up, he still gets the money from his current deal... I think his agent will tell him to wait it out... much bigger commission, tbh...

Current deal that will finish in two years vs maybe possibility to get a new long term contract quickly but I understand logic of wanting maximize, risk / reward situation. Chimp will obviously choose to maximize tho

I don't think he can extend whenever he wants, either. Otherwise, players would extend every year for an updated max salary. I think the window opens up the season before he becomes a RFA, but not sure...

why saying blowing his knee meaning having serious injury issues the way OKC tear him down and the way he relies 90% on his athleticism has a good probability is :lol ? How much time the last monkey ballin PG lasted tbh ?

Hoops Czar

He would do that if he has the brain of a chimp. Due to the new TV deal, a max contract in two seasons will be substantially higher than any time before. That's why there's a lot of chatter of free agents this summer opting to sign just for one year.

Which is why there's a pretty good chance Duncan and Ginobili return for another more season.

It's going to be certainly a topic over the summer... I'm sure he will get the offers... max deal for 5 years, followed by max deal for 1 year... if he takes the 1 year option, then the Spurs will match, and we'll be in that boat.

I don't think with them it's about money. I mean, sure, money doesn't hurt, but there's other factors too, like family, how they feel, etc.

I do suspect they'll be coming back unless some major injury happens. They both looked great this season.

I was piggybacking off your comment about 2016. Ginobili is more of a question mark than Duncan But, I suspect both will return for another season which will allow the Spurs to chase down a big fish in two years when there's a more flexibility and cap space at their disposal. I don't think they'll make many waves this offseason other than signing their own. Who knows though. I've been wrong once or twice before.

I do think it's a season to season thing with them. I'm sure the Spurs will want them back after showing they have plenty in the tank, even if they're not outright dominant every night, but it's largely up to them. I too would like them both back, and wait until 2016 for any big move.

Kanter was brought in for scoring punch off the bench. He can practically give them a double-double on a nightly basis and all it cost them was a seldom used, foul prone Kendrick Perkins. I'd say it was an absolute steal considering Perk barely saw the floor in OKC and now he's shitting the bed in Cleveland. The only thing he's really good at is hard fouls and arguing with the refs over a hard foul call. Now, if you consider that "toughness" then I agree, he's tougher than Kanter.

Kanter is a loser, and he doesn't fill any needs for them. Perkins was useless against 98% of the league, but he grinded Tim and Tiago down, which is actually one of the very few matchups they needed to have.

What they needed is a solid perimeter defender/role player. Instead they traded for Waiters. Just horrible moves all around.

He's just a guy that's happy to be along for the ride, not a difference maker. His comments about never being happy in Utah, spoken after he left, speaks volumes about his attitude: cash the checks and mail it in, instead of doing something about it. Not to mention that it also points to him thinking he's better than he really is. Right now, he's basically a slightly better Aaron Baynes, a decent 3rd, 4th big on any team with aspirations. He's oblivious to winning or losing, lacks the proverbial competitive fire.

He's young, time or the right environment could change him, so we'll see. Right now, he's on the wrong path, IMO.

His completely lack of defensive effort made him a cancer for OKC.. Jazz figured it out and since Gobert took his minutes, jazz is the best defensive team since the all star break! Just imagine Baynes in OKC instead of Kanter and the liability is not so obvious I think

I would absolutely advocate for Deandre getting the ball more if they routinely had a player on their team who took over 25-30 shots in a game and ended up at under 33% shooting. Except Chris Paul is shooting 48.5% from the field this season. :lol

The price tag for Kanter was much more than the expiring contract attached to Perkins' corpse. They also sent a future first round pick and had to absorb a year of Novak at 3.75M for 2015-16. All this for a player that will be a free agent this summer and may cost more than 10M per year to keep.

Caling a moron a moron makes me mad? Ok.

Role players play off of playmakers moron. Thats basketball 101. Making assisted shots and making shots when you are the playmaker the defense is focused on are two completely different things. Westbrook's closing has been comical at times, not just this past game, but that has nothing to do with you going full retard by comparing his FG% to his teammates FG%.

From espn:
Westbrook made just 2 of 11 3-pointers. It was the most threes he has attempted in a game in his seven-year career. The Thunder are 0-5 this season when he attempts at least seven threes. Oklahoma City is 6-13 when he attempts at least five threes, and 31-10 when he shoots four or fewer.

They have talent, but they're not a top-tier team as it is. The guy can only do so much when the playbook is basically "high pick and roll" or "push it!"

I think it's cute how you would compare a 36 year old coming off major surgery to a 26 year old but, I digress. Westbrook plays reckless, careless and out of control but, that somehow gets portrayed as instinct and desire to win. He sacrifices wins by taking possessions and opportunities away from his teammates in order to do it all himself. That gets portrayed as "freak of nature" ":lollite" and "dominant" Finally, his defense is probably the most overrated aspect of his game. Need proof? April 90 ORtg 120 DRtg, March 110 ORtg 106 DRtg. His defense is a product of Serge Ibaka in the same way Kobe's defense was a product of Shaq. He's a very good athlete/player but, not the powerhouse juggernaut portrayed by the media and fans alike.

Healthy okc doesn't take that shot. They're winning by 20 easy.

He took those shots in the finals against Miami, he took them against the Spurs in the playoffs, and he takes them now. He has missed 70% of all the threes he has taken over the course of his entire career. Nothing has changed. He has always taken bad threes.

So Leonard and Davis both have higher potential. Do you think Westbrook is a good defender? And I think everyone agrees that he is talented and plays hard, but would you say he's one of the smarter players in the league? Does he have the BBIQ of Magic, Michael, Duncan?

Lol you are right! What a combo Westbrook-Kanter! No,wonder the Jazz trade Kanter ass to OKC... The real mvp is durant. Adding stats lines like westbrick did again tonight is painful to see... OKC already had their Kanter with westbrick, but they just did add a second one with Kanter. I am really sad for KD..

Westbrick 12-29
Kanter 9-19

:lol Blatantly false. TNT even put up a graphic that OKC had gone on that 11-0 run in the second quarter after Alphabrook returned. With that said his play has been comical at times his last two meetings vs SA. The refs don't treat him like he's untouchable like they do when KD is out there and they're contenders...which makes his out of control drives look really dumb tbh.

That had more to do with the Spurs carelessly turning the ball over than due to Westbrook. He was the recipient, once or twice, of the steals for a fastbreak dunk, but it wasn't due to him being on the floor.
