He sucks tbh, I really hope we don't keep him because of his other countrymen....

i think Bertans will win over the backup 3 spot this season so having Garino on the roster would be a waste IMO. We need a big man just in case one of our bigs get an injury. We're really slim in depth when it comes to our bigs.
Bertans is quoted that the team wants him to play the 4. This could change, but it looks like LJC will be on the outside looking in unless PATFO want him at the 3. I think Garino will play behind KA at the 3. Yes we need a big....someone that can play the 5.

Completely embarrassing performance from FRA. Terrible coaching, the worst defense I have ever seen and the offense in usual FRA fashion struggled badly.

Just as you think they might turn a corner, the do the same things over and over again which isn't surprising since they struggled right before the Olympics.

Great job by AUS - they played very well and their bigs dominated FRA. They moved the ball and did what they had to do.

But yes, :lol I am 100% sure Delly is no where near as good as he looked vs this pathetic FRA team today.

Good news: Mills shot was really nice today. SA need that fired up Mills and his shooting definitely plays a solid role on SA's ceiling as a team.

TP was having some success too and no one got injured.

I'm really interested to see how Pau looks. Hope he stays healthy and does not look like a decline player.

As i said before Australia is one of the few teams that can somehow make USA play serious.

France is on the level that has been showing lately, having a lot of trouble to score and defend, they were lucky to end in group A. They would have gotten embarrassed in group B.

I think Australia has serious chance for a medal.

To say the truth, this group round is totally uneven, i can already tell you how group A will finish. 1USA, 2Australia, 3Serbia, 4France.

Group B is a whole different story, and the fight will be huge for the price to eliminate France.

As bad as France has looked, they don't really have to worry about missing the next round. With China and Venezuela in the group the rest of the teams are guaranteed to advance. So there's still enough time to figure things out.

I hope Collet gives Batum some more minutes with the second unit from now on to force him to be more aggressive. You just can't have him only taking 3 shots in a whole game.

Kevring Durbeta too.
True true true, Cousins is probably the ultimate loser of the bunch. I'm not sure he'll ever have a winning season. I pity the Kings fans. It was easy to root for them in their heyday since the Lakers were their biggest rival.

Lithuania will just destroy Brazil in a blowout.

I really don´t get this group disparity, Group B is a war itself and you have to avoid 2-4 spots because you´ll get USA in your way.

Should go back to the Athens format with 2 group Stages and then elimination games.

This way luck plays too big of a role.

I think it's going to be a close game. Lithuania has a lot of size and length on their roster but they lack the usual 3 point shooting. I don't think they are well equipped to handle defenses that just pack the paint against them.

Olympic basketball: Diaw unhappy with French offense in loss to Australia

Rio de Janeiro • Having been immersed in the San Antonio Spurs' system, Boris Diaw knows the kind of basketball he likes. And it is not the stuff he witnessed from his France teammates Saturday.

Sloppy, selfish offense hurt France in an 87-66 loss to Australia as Group A preliminary play began in the Olympic tournament. "It's not our game to play one-on-one. … We've got to move the ball," Diaw said.

Traded to the Jazz in early July, Diaw took the court for the opening tip with two new NBA teammates, France center Rudy Gobert and Australian guard Joe Ingles. Diaw posted nine points and five rebounds, while showing good signs of athletic ability and savvy at age 34, although the team captain cooled off in the second half and finished with 4-of-11 shooting.

Ingles was bothered by foul trouble and finished with four points and six assists. Of the Boomers' 35 field goals, 29 came via assists. Matthew Dellavedova led the team with 10 assists.

"We have an offensive system that enables us to take advantage of whatever defense the other team is playing," said Australian coach Andrej Lemanis. "We're patient offensively and we're extremely unselfish."

In his Olympic debut, Gobert recorded five points, seven rebounds and three blocked shots in 25 minutes. Most of his defensive impact came in the first half. After that, Australia's well-executed offense found ways to pull him away from the basket and enable Andrew Bogut to catch lob passes and score easily.

"They didn't score one-on-one in the post so much," said former University of Utah player Kim Tillie, defending Gobert's work.

Gobert said he and his teammates needed to "watch our mistakes" and learn from them, as they prepare to play China on Monday. France qualified for the Olympics without Gobert, who was the only player added to the roster after that victory over Canada in Manila. Yet he said practicing for two weeks with the team was adequate preparation, after playing for France in recent summers.

Australia will meet Serbia on Monday. Four of the six teams in Group A, which also includes the USA and Venezuela, will advance to the quarterfinals after playing five preliminary games.
