The typical rule (again, in Texas) is that all you need is for the party against whom enforcement of the agreement is sought to a) have signed and b) receive consideration.

And that rule makes sense -- a principal (as in the principal-agent relationship) having to know exactly what his agent was doing would really defeat the whole purpose behind the law of agency.
