Great effort by Boston..they probably lose in 5 if Irving and Hayward play IMO..should try to trade Kyrie for Kawhi ASAP and hope Hayward doesn't recover and has to retire..
Go Rockets!!:lol
Wouldn't be shocked if they regress a bit next season :lol. Between integrating a damaged goods Hayward and Mamba Kyrie in contract year, I think the chemistry they built this year could be in jeopardy..
I think I might dangle Brown for Kawhi if the latter isn't crippled in the long run. This was the game you could see Jaylen limits in display. He can't create for shit and looked overwhelmed by the occasion in total contrast to Tatum.

Imagine drafting Lonzo Ball or Fultz ahead of Tatum..Jesus..
Imagine wasting so much money on Gordon Hayward, a no-impact player, when they already have better options on much friendlier contracts..

Watched the 4th quarter and wanted to throw something at the TV the way the Celtics were playing irked me. All the Celtics were doing was taking 3's pretty much the whole 4th quarter and they were not going in. They just gave the game to Cavs for the most part by playing a game with an NBA finals trip on the line like a game at the local YMCA. Just frustrating to watch but congrats to LeBron, go get the Cavs another NBA title.

They have a chance if Houston wins and Paul can't play..Harden could go either way, he could match LeBron or completely choke, there's actual hope, since Houston's style is so reliant on 3s..
They would probably get swept by GS, though..just a terrible matchup, Warriors would consistently have 5 of the 6 best players in the series..

I have to question Brad Steven's time out calling. he let a 13 point lead (maybe more) slip away and never called a time out. He didn't call a time out knowing his team wasn't poised, down 4 with 2 minutes to go. Maybe he knew it wasn't going to happen. Still, poor timeout management imo.

9 to 7 is not realistic neither is 9 to 2
its a dumb argument but considering there is 5 finals losses with a possible 6 you can easily argue he is sitting on 5 or 4 all things bring equal ...why would he magically beat teams that beat him in the Finals?
Just this year alone he probably loses to either teambif healthy in WCF ...but looks like that wont be the case cuz Iggy is a pussy and CP3 is soft and will probably have a case of
Lebronitis...i think cavs have a chance to beat either team tbh...
but not buying he makes 7 straight in west ..maybe 4 or 5 out of the 9 ...
Look lebron is amazing no need to make up shit or alter history ...harlem you a good poster who loves LeBron but is normally rational why would he beat West teams like Spurs/Mavs/State he already lost to?
I agree unlikely MJ BirdTim magic Shaq etc dont drag this cavs team to a Finals ...and making 8 straight is impressive regardless if in the East ...but come, on.

I can't even guess as to how many Finals appearances LeBron would've made had he played in the West, but he'd have his share.
Also, he would be better off rings-wise no question had he been drafted by certain West teams like the Spurs or Lakers as opposed to one of the historically weakest franchises in professional sports. He has one title in 11 seasons with the Cavaliers. He'd have more if he'd spent those 11 seasons in San Antonio or LA.

But Tatum im all in on and why despite still being a couple notches below Leonard ...if i am Ainge i would not trade him straight up for Kiwi and have stated so before last night. Kid is only 20 and is already performing as well as Kiwi did in his first finals appearance ...sure you

lets all agree that what he did this playoffs is special, almost as special as what he did in 2007. If he loses in the Finals, much like the first time it counts as a loss in his Finals record but making it there with a team Mj probably could not have carried there, is a plus, not a negative in his GOAT argument ...He still has the bad losses in 2014 and especially 2011 ...but cant expect him to turn water in to wine ...his finals record overall doesnt compare to MJ but two of his losses (if he loses in 2018) were minor miracles in spite of a weak East...

Well that's different from what we were arguing but ok, I'll play that game.
And no, I am not hating at all. I have been saying repeatedly today that I think he's the second best of all time and he's actually making a legit case for #1. I might be underrating Kareem here, but I never got a chance to see him fully.
If you are talking about a 1-16 setting that you could argue:
2007: Cavs would have lost to more than one Western team that year.
2011: Probably they do end up beating everyone else bar the Mavs.
2014: Probably OKC beats the Heat. Wade was done as an impact player at this point.
2015: Probably the second best team again, and that was a team that lost Kyrie and Love during the playoffs.
2017: Probably second best team again.
2018: Surely both the Warriors and Rockets seem better right now.
So if we had a 1-16 setting than I would argue LBJ ends up missing the Finals in 2007, 2014 and 2018. That's six finals, just like Mike.

agree he is creeping on Mj cuz like you i started with older but still effective Kareem...(80s)
but again no need to suppose put his exact cavs/heat teams in west with same record they still lose to Spurs/State twice, Mavs once ... and depending on records maybe that loss comes round 2 insead of conference Finals ...

JoeTait75

lets all agree that what he did this playoffs is special, almost as special as what he did in 2007.
More special, imo, because of the level of competition he faced compared to 2007. Remember in the 2007 playoffs the Cavaliers didn't play a team with a winning record until the ECF. The Wizards and Nets teams they beat in the first two rounds each went 41-41 and the Wizards were without Gilbert Arenas and Caron Butler. This postseason LeBron went up against teams with 48, 59 and 56 wins and the Cavaliers only had HC in the first round against Indiana. So he was facing a higher caliber of competition than he did in 2007.
The other thing is that, say what you want about the overall talent level of the 2007 team, but it was more of a cohesive unit than this year's Cavs. Most of the principal role players on the '07 team- Larry Hughes, Donyell Marshall, Damon Jones, Eric Snow, Varejao- had been together since at least the beginning of the 2005-06 season. Whereas this year's team is barely recognizable even from the beginning of the season because of all the personnel moves. It's much more of a haphazard, thrown-together unit than the '07 team was, with a much shorter time playing together- a few months as opposed to two years.

The 07-10 Cavs were rugged defensive units. They didn't have much of an offensive identity, and it's not like LeBron helped much by often pounding the ball for 10-15 second without knowing whether to attack, shoot or pass. But defensively they were always very sound, for all of Mike Brown's faults. In 08 they came the closest to actually defeating the Celtics because they could go punch for punch on defense with them.

:tu
The 2006-08 teams were outstanding defensively. That showed up not only against the C's in '08 but in the two series against Detroit and even in the '07 Finals, outside of not being able to control Tony Parker. The Spurs scored 75 and 83 points the last two games of that series.
Then the Cavaliers over-corrected for their offensive deficiencies and got guys like Mo Williams and Antawn Jamison who couldn't guard a lamppost, and got torched by Orlando in '09 and by the Celtics in '10.

I always hear this, but who are these West teams that would have prevented them from reaching the Finals? You guys really overvalue RS wonders like Aldridge's Blazers and the Grizzlies:lol
If LeBron is in the West, he doesn't make the Finals in 2007 and 2018..I don't see any other year where his team loses..
2017? To who? Spurs without Kawhi?
2015? To the Josh Smith and Corey Brewer-led Rockets?:lol
2014? Maybe to OKC, but LeBron's teams routinely dominated those Thunder teams
2011? The Bulls were better than any West team other than Dallas
It's an illogical argument..if he's in the West, 9 becomes 7..
Negro please. He'd have to go thru your Spurs, the Suns, the Jail Blazers and ultimately Shaq and Kobe.

One player won more rangs without the other two than they did without him. One player was 0-12 in the playoffs without this one player. So yiu think Jaylen Brown and his sometimesy jumper is worth Ingram Kuzma Zo and Randle? Even if you talking real hopps or fantasy that was dumb from a value perspective ...
But Tatum im all in on and why despite still being a couple notches below Leonard ...if i am Ainge i would not trade him straight up for Kiwi and have stated so before last night. Kid is only 20 and is already performing as well as Kiwi did in his first finals appearance ...sure you
lose defense but he is also cheaper and healthier.
it wouldn't in fantasy, because comulative value wins, but if I was building a team I would rather have Brown than the 4 of them, easy. While technically Ingram is not a lost cause, nothing he has done has shown he can be good without a great usage rate, while Brown would fit right in with any team. Kuzma, i like him but he's a role player and you can find those anywhere you want. Zo and Randle are net negatives if we're talking serious bball, I'm not even gonna discuss that.

You are,the Cavs expert buy as a neutral party I disagree.
2007 was special (unless he rings or pushes it to 6 or 7)
Because how freaking young he was in 2007. Back then his 3pt jumpshot was almost non existent his post footwork was atrocious and over reliant on crab dribbles ...but despite all that he was an amazing force of speed and strength mixed with an alteady high hoops IQ plus though aging he had to beat a experienced Pistons team.
This version of Lebron is stronger not as quick but a better post player, finisher (not dunker), shooter etc.
So to me reaching the Finals that early was more impressive plus to me his coach and csst was more limited offensively ...better defense but worse offense.

I really don't understand, somebody explain this shit to me.
definitely a head scratcher. ainge wasn’t high on fultz anyway based on their private session with him, and the lakers was going to pick lonzo at 2. colangelo outbid himself.
to make matters worse, not only did BC drafted a potential bust in fultz but he also gave either a 2018 or 2019 1st rd pick to ainge which is projected to be a lottery pick (lakers or sacramento) bringing boston a total of 8 draft picks in the next 3 years.

Since CP3 is out Harden has a built in excuse of team injury so he can ball with no pressure since no one really expects him to beat the Warriors by himself. It's Lebron and the 2015 Finals all over again. I expect Harden will have a great game instead of his usual choking ways but the Warriors will pull it out in the final minutes.

Either way, it will make the product unwatchable: either by creating a generation of Frauden-esque floppers, or by encouraging more "Hamptons 5" collusion and boring three-point chucker ball.

I just can't see a team whose second-best player is a 37-year-old Kyle Korver winning the Finals under any circumstances, unfortunately. Then again, I didn't expect the Cavs to get past Boston after that awful Game 1 performance either.

With all the talk of LeBron going to Houston, I don't think people realize that the Rockets would have to trade that scrub's horrible contract without taking on any salary in return to make room for him. They probably should have kept him on the bench and hoped some sucker team would get fooled by all the regular-season threes he made five years ago.

You mean if he plays second fiddle to shaq and mvpau? Sure.

Riddle me this homeslice. One player has more rangs (5) than two other players he played with in total. One player had 4, the other 2. One player won more rangs without the other two than they did without him. One player was 0-12 in the playoffs without this one player. The other player won 1 without the one particular player, then became a paid mercenary tryna catch the one particular player but couldn't. One particular player won B2B without one fatass player. Etc etc. Yet the other two players are better than the one particular player? :lol
Can you solve my riddle? :downspin:
Horry got 7 rings. Kobe’s got five. One player won 4 more without the other. The other missed four playoffs. Can you solve the riddle?
