That shows that Hegseth and other hawks like him have really learned nothing from these debacles. Like a lot of other hawks, Hegseth imagines that fewer legal restrictions on how U.S. forces fight will somehow make the military more effective, but he is wrong. The U.S. isn’t going to win any wars by committing more atrocities and trampling on international law. It will bring lasting shame and dishonor on the soldiers that are encouraged to fight that way.

Current USA is speed running the Russian model of government. The only remaining obstacle for them is the states, and their independence from federal government. According to jail records, he was released the next day.

In a questionnaire in connection with his nomination to head the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, Isaacman said he was returning from the Olympics in Vancouver, British Columbia, in February 2010 when he was detained by CBP for "drawing and passing checks without sufficient funds."

He said the arrest stemmed from a dispute with the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas over a travel reimbursement the resort promised and failed to honor. Isaacman said he resolved the matter in less than 24 hours and the charges were dismissed. The court records were sealed, he said.

Trump loyalist Patel has conducted no high-profile arrests of the president’s adversaries—yet—as some hoped he would, but he has found the time to attend two NHL games to watch Alex Ovechkin tie Wayne Gretzky’s all-time goal scoring record in Washington on April 4, and to break that record days later on Long Island, where Patel is from, on April 6.

Flight records show that a Boeing 757 owned by the Department of Justice (DOJ) flew to John F. Kennedy International Airport on April 6, arriving shortly before a game between the New York Islands and Washington Capitals. The plane returned to Washington, D.C., shortly after it ended.

Records also show a trio of round-trip flights to Nashville on a DOJ-owned Gulfstream, the Times reported. That is where Patel’s girlfriend, Alexis Wilkins, lives.
Patel reportedly conducted official business on at least one of those Nashville trips, visiting the local FBI office and meeting with Tennessee’s Republican senators and local law enforcement.
It is unclear what business was conducted during the FBI’s other visits to the Volunteer State, however. Directors are required to reimburse the government for the use of planes, but only have to do so at the price of a commercial ticket, which is, of course, much less than the cost of operating a private jet.

The Justice Department operates a small fleet of planes that are available for use by Patel as director, including two Gulfstreams and two Boeing 757s. That apparently is not enough for the Trump administration, however, as the FBI has recently issued a request for information about purchasing another jet for “required-use executive travel.”

Those citations, though, are rife with errors, from broken links to misstated conclusions.
Seven of the cited sources don’t appear to exist at all.

Epidemiologist Katherine Keyes is listed in the MAHA report as the first author of a study on anxiety in adolescents. When NOTUS reached out to her this week, she was surprised to hear of the citation. She does study mental health and substance use (https://www.notus.org/congress/narcan-opioids-trump-budget-republicans), she said. But she didn’t write the paper listed.

“The paper cited is not a real paper that I or my colleagues were involved with,” Keyes told NOTUS via email. “We’ve certainly done research on this topic, but did not publish a paper in JAMA Pediatrics on this topic with that co-author group, or with that title.”

It’s not clear that anyone wrote the study cited in the MAHA report. The citation refers to a study titled, “Changes in mental health and substance abuse among US adolescents during the COVID-19 pandemic (https://www.notus.org/health-science/cdc-covid-vaccine-pregnant-women-children),” along with a nonfunctional link to the study’s digital object identifier. While the citation claims that the study appeared in the 12th issue of the 176th edition of the journal JAMA Pediatrics, that issue (https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jamapediatrics/issue/176/12) didn’t include a study with that title.

The anxiety study wasn’t the only one the report cites that appears to be mysteriously absent from the scientific literature. A section describing the “corporate capture of media” highlights two studies that it says are “broadly illustrative” of how a rise in direct-to-consumer drug advertisements has led to more prescriptions being written for ADHD medications and antidepressants for kids.

The catch? Neither of those studies is anywhere to be found. Here are the two citations:

Those articles don’t appear in the table of contents for the journals listed in their citations. A spokesperson for Virginia Commonwealth University, where psychiatric researcher (https://scholar.google.com/citations?hl=en&user=sJU0DzwAAAAJ&view_op=list_works&sortby=pubdate) Robert L. Findling currently teaches, confirmed to NOTUS that he never authored such an article. The author of the first study doesn’t appear to be a real ADHD researcher at all — at least, not one with a Google Scholar profile.

In another section titled, “American Children are on Too Much Medicine – A Recent and Emerging Crisis,” the report claims that 25% to 40% of mild cases of asthma are overprescribed. But searching Google for the exact title of the paper it cites to back up that figure — “Overprescribing of oral corticosteroids for children with asthma” — leads to only one result: the MAHA report.

The corticosteroids study’s supposed first author, pediatric pulmonologist Harold J. Farber, denied writing it or ever working with the other listed authors. He pointed to similar (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/28557753/) research he’s conducted, but said that even if the MAHA report cited that study correctly, its conclusions are “clearly an overgeneralization” of the findings.
