...but only when Trump is President.
After Trump and a Democrat gets that august position? You'd better mind it, or, else!
Logic's a real asshole like that. Doesn't care bout your feelings
Personally, I'm tired of hearing about I'll never get any SS and have to keep paying into it. Obviously, my dollar bills pay for your current SS checks, whether you like it or not. If Trump's a real man of the people, he'll allow me to say fuck you and put every dime of it into whatever investment - or no investment, which is how 90% of Americans will see it.
EOs are executive branch memos, their significance outside the executive is purely hortatory and symbolic
FMCSA and DOT might be congressionally mandated and funded, but with the bunch of limp dicks in there, it's just Hitler 2.0 shy of a Reichstag fire if you ask me.

:lol personal grudge?
It's a little different this time because Trump is single-handedly destroying the economy.
FDR policy enacted during his first of FOUR TERMS. Good times
You mean, during the time period BEFORE we passed a Constitutional amendment prohibiting over 2 terms, correct? Inarguably, no president from this point on can serve more than 2 terms unless they were a VP who had a P die, right? We're totally, 100% clear on this.

SS is about ensuring the generation that just retired keeps contributing to the economy. Big picture, homie. Big picture.
FWIW, I understand your POV. Sooo many fucks think that what they paid in guarantees them some kind of pay out.

Well Google says that it was the 70's and 80's that wrecked it.
But you say it was fine until afterwards?
Social Security became unsustainable due to a combination of factors, including an aging population, increased life expectancy, and declining birth rates. The program's finances began to show strain during the 1970s with stagflation, and further issues arose in the 1980s due to a growing number of retirees. The Social Security Administration currently projects that the trust funds will be depleted in 2035, according to the May 2024 trustees report.

The philosophical question of who SHOULD have more kids? I mean if its to serve as tax payers then sure, the more successful. But more often than it seems as if those are the ones that are wanting to do more or be more involved with their family. A big family doesn't work well for those plans. I know that's what we see and feel as a family. What do you think?

US economy contracts in Q1
The economy (https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/tag/economy/) unexpectedly contracted 0.3% in the first quarter of 2025, a preliminary reading that is sure to rattle markets and is bad news for President Donald Trump (https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/tag/donald-trump/).
The data, adjusted for inflation (https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/tag/inflation/), were published Wednesday by the Bureau of Economic Analysis in its report for gross domestic product (https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/tag/gdp/) for the first quarter. This is the first of three revisions to the data in the coming weeks.
The decline in GDP is a notable shift from the final quarter of last year, which saw economic output increase by a solid 2.4%. It also marks the only time — other than one quarter in 2022 — when the economy contracted since the pandemic.

this is a DHL press release
We would like to update you on the recent temporary suspension that took effect Monday, April 21, 2025, on business-to-consumer (B2C) shipments addressed to private individuals in the U.S. where the declared value exceeded USD 800.
As we previously communicated, shipments from all countries with a value over USD 800 required formal entry processing into the U.S. This regulatory change caused a significant increase in formal customs clearances, and DHL implemented the temporary suspension to ensure we could maintain our high service quality commitment for our customers. B2C shipments with declarable customs value below USD 800 and business-to-business (B2B) shipments were not affected by the suspension.
We are pleased to inform you that effective April 28th, 2025, the temporary suspension has been withdrawn and DHL Express has resumed the transport of B2C shipments addressed to private individuals in the U.S. where the declared value exceeded USD 800.
This decision follows constructive dialogue between DHL and the U.S. government, who demonstrated a strong willingness to understand our operational and technical challenges, and who agreed that it was imperative to act quickly in the interest of U.S. consumers.

US benchmark WTI crude is down nearly 4% as Saudi Arabia reports emerge that not only can the Saudis sustain today’s low oil prices, but output increases are likely to be announced next week, for June output, sources speaking to both Reuters and Bloomberg have indicated.
On Wednesday, Reuters cited five unnamed sources as saying that the Saudis have no intention of boosting oil markets with further supply cuts, as Riyadh’s budget can tolerate sustained low prices.
On the contrary, sources are suggesting that the Saudis could start producing more to grab more market share after sacrificing production for OPEC+ voluntary cuts for so long.

Canada Freezes US Travel as Air Canada, WestJet, Porter, and Flair Slash Routes to Major Cities Including San Francisco, Miami, New York, and Washington to Tap Growing Demand in Europe
...
In recent months, both business and leisure travel from Canada to the United States have seen a dramatic downturn. Data from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) shows that entries from the northern border fell by 12.5% in February and a further 18% in March, indicating sustained contraction in cross-border movement. This retreat comes amid growing discomfort among Canadian travelers, fueled by strict U.S. border enforcement, electronic device inspections, and political rhetoric painting Canada as “the 51st state.”
Further compounding this decline, Flight Centre Travel Group Canada reported that Canadian business travel to the United States plummeted by 40% in the early months of 2025. Tourism Economics forecasts a 15.2% decline in international visitors to the U.S. this year alone, a downturn echoed by decreased arrivals from key European markets like Germany and Spain—down 30% and 25%, respectively, in March.
...
The U.S. Travel Association warns that even a 10% drop in Canadian tourism could cost the U.S. economy over $2.1 billion and result in the loss of more than 140,000 jobs. Given the current trajectory, the actual decline may exceed that threshold. Cities like San Francisco, Miami, New York, Orlando, Houston, and Washington—which have traditionally benefited from steady Canadian visitor traffic—are already seeing fewer arrivals, empty hotel rooms, and reduced spending in restaurants, attractions, and retail.
The impact extends to airlines as well. U.S. carriers that once enjoyed strong demand from Canadian cities are now seeing softer load factors on incoming flights. Codeshare partnerships with Canadian airlines are also being re-evaluated, and some U.S. airlines have begun to reduce marketing campaigns targeting Canadian customers.

Most of the inflation was a result of sellers deciding they could simply charge more for the products and services, which is much easier to do with the consolidation of those sellers. Why does TSA think profit margins have been so high?
If prices go up again "one time" for tariffs, what's to stop the sellers from inflating the prices further to increase profits again?

SHANGHAI (Reuters) -China has created a list of U.S.-made products that would be exempted from its 125% tariffs and is quietly notifying companies about the policy, two people familiar with the matter said, as Beijing seeks to ease the impact of its trade war with Washington.
China has already granted tariff exemptions on select products including select pharmaceuticals, microchips and aircraft engines and was asking firms to identify critical goods they need levy-free, Reuters reported on Friday. However, the existence of a so-called 'whitelist' had not been previously reported.
The quiet approach allows Beijing, which has repeatedly said it is willing to fight till the end unless the U.S. lifts its 145% tariffs, to maintain its public messaging while privately taking practical steps to provide concessions.

Biden was warned by economists from both sides that the ARP would cause massive inflation but he ignored them. The economy was recovering great and was at over 6% GDP when he signed the ARP. Look at every other country coming out of the pandemic how inflation was tracking generally the same as ours and then look at how only ours exploded and it was 100% because of the ARP. To add to this he signed the IRA and made it even worse. ST buzzwords and catch phrases are going to save you here. You’re an absolute retard when it comes to discussing finances and markets.

Here's how it actually breaks down:
In May 2020, TSMC, the Taiwan-based leader in semiconductor production, announced that it would build a $12 billion semiconductor fabrication facility, or a fab, in Phoenix, Arizona for the production of 5-nanometer chips. Two years later, TSMC revealed plans to construct a second fab to manufacture 3-nanometer chips, more than tripling its investment in Arizona from $12 to $40 billion and upgrading chips at its first facility to 4-nanometer processes.
Since the investment announcements, however, both facilities have experienced significant workforce challenges that caused TSMC to postpone production timelines in Arizona by up to two years.
The project was re-energized in April 2024, when the Taiwanese semiconductor giant signed a non-binding preliminary memorandum of terms (PMT) with the US Department of Commerce that secured $6.6 billion in grants and up to $5.5 billion in loans under the CHIPS and Science Act for the construction of a third TSMC fab in Arizona. The CHIPS Act, enacted by the Biden administration in 2022, aims to rebuild US domestic semiconductor manufacturing capacity in response to supply chain vulnerabilities exposed during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The new investment pushed the total capital expenditure in TSMC Arizona from $40 billion to over $65 billion, making it the largest foreign direct investment (FDI) in Arizona state history and the largest FDI in a greenfield project in US history. The recent progress has put TSMC Arizona on track to produce 20% of America’s advanced logic chips by 2030, placing Arizona at the forefront of the Biden administration’s push to rebuild semiconductor manufacturing capacity in the US.
I didn't read where they were going to not invest anymore unless there were yuge tariffs.

Inflation was a given once the pandemic hit as supply chains were shut down due to Covid and there were labor shortages. There was inflation around the world. At the time Biden signed ARP our GDP was humming at 6% and we were well on our way to recovery. There was no need for ARP and all of the disposable income it put into people's pockets driving inflation even higher. ARP was a huge part of what cost Biden the election as inflation was one of the top issues on voter's minds, well not your mind, since you never said shit about inflation getting as high as 9% and based on your question here never even understood why it got that high under Biden.
Compare the US inflation rate to other countries post-Covid and ask your self why ours continued to rise compared to theirs. Notice anything different other countries did? They didn't pump in 1.9 trillion to an economy with a 6% GDP.

If answered, it will not be simple. It'll be a tweet wall.
Thank you.
Blake asks for links, Blake gets links, Blake folds. You are such a pussy lol.
Many economists on both sides today are warning of massive inflation coming.
Post the many economists from both sides you are talking about and the massive inflation rates they are predicting.
What if I post a single economist since you can't find a single one?
Blake makes a claim, Blake gets asked to prove claim, Blake moves goalposts, Blake still folds.

You have the info I asked for: inflation was caused by the pandemic, meaning it would have happened to any president.
What more do you want other than thanks for confirming what I've been saying?

Even after to moving the goalpost from "many" economists on both sides warning of massive inflation coming to a "single" economist warning of massive inflation coming you couldn't find a single one. :rollin

9% inflation would not have happened to any President and wasn't the result of the Covid. 9% inflation was because of Biden signing the American Rescue Plan. Even your own party admits it was a massive failure and pushed inflation way higher. It basically doubled the inflation rate. Many economists from both sides warned Biden of massive inflation coming if he injected another 1.9 trillion into a quickly recovering economy humming at 6% GDP. And unlike your claim, many economists from both sides actually did warn of it. There is no denying it was ARP that shot inflation up to 9% and you can ignore the links and studies provided all you want and continue to argue against it if you want to continue embarrassing yourself, I won't stop you.

You argue from ignorance and fail miserably and instead of waiving the white flag and admitting you were wrong you just keep coming back for more only to get slapped around again. Stop embarrassing yourself you fool :lol

If this was true you'd be able to easily refute my arguments instead of having to disingenuously edit my quotes to cut the context out.
I'm still waiting for you to provide a single economist warning of massive inflation. Chop chop.

You're absolutely easy to refute, but that's what's great about the internets. Even when you're losing the thread, you can still build yourself a victory trophy and there's nothing anyone can do about it except lol at you.

You claim I'm easy to refute, yet you've failed to do so time and time again. What does that say about you? What's great about the internet, and message boards in general, is that you can claim you've refuted someone like you're doing now, and everyone reading the thread can so you have not refuted anything and lol at you claiming you have.
Still waiting for that single economist you claimed was warning of massive inflation coming soon. Chop chop or dodge dodge.
