Radiohead - 2+2=5 (The Lukewarm)

Yup, it is. Good album, a bit tighter than their last one. Although, the last one did have one of my freaking favorite songs right now (Nowhere Again).

In the interim:

Gene Autry by Beulah
Release the Stars by Rufus Wainwright
Struggle by Ringside

I've always had a soft-spot for Radiohead's Pablo Honey LP.

The Kasabian song is off their new album, also called Empire. It's pretty good, a little less electronic than their previous album, I'd say more rock. More of the same (from their debut), but I'd recommend it.

The Spoon song, I'm not sure what it originally came off of, but I got it when I picked up the OST to Stranger than Fiction. Great track.

I haven't listened to that one yet, any good? I should though, I've recently gotten into them, so any assistance their would be appreciated.

Also one of my all time favorite bands back in the 90's was the Charlatans.

I saw them play at liberty lunch on the telling stories tour...afterward we went to the Dog and Duck and the band was there. Spent the majority of the night hanging out drinking guiness in the back. was fuckin awesome!

They put us on the guest list the next night for their show in dallas. invited us to come up before the show to have a drink on the bus. So i skipped my classes that afternoon, friend quit his job waiting tables at red lobster, and we drove up to dallas, and got to hang out with mark collins and tony (the keyboardist) on the bus for an hour or so before the show.

what a fuckin cool ass time...whoever gets to do shit like that with their favorite band.

Is that off his new album? I've heard it's a great album. Only listened to Vintage Clothes and that one track from the commercial though.

Yes it's from the new one. I haven't listened to all of it but my mom made me listen to End of The End the other day (which happened to be the 2nd year anniversary of my grandfathers death...so it was a tear jerker). The songs I have heard are really good. :)

So worth it, February 20, 2006
By Michael D. Lam (Seattle, WA) - See all my reviews

This guy is so gnarly, i listened to all the previews on the top before i bought it and i thought they werent bad, so i got the cd from the used tab for 3 bucks. I recieved it unopened with the case and everything it was awesome.
this cd is worth the full price for shizle. ALL the songs are pretty much money and you will fall in love with them, although i do say that one song Silver Buttons, is mildly retarded. Its a good song but then he messes up the chorus. Anyways, this guy is a musical genius. Its the kind of love songs you play while you're hooking up with a chick(better than playing coldplay), so bring them over and stick in the cd. Hes like galvin degraw, but more gentle on the guitar, more like a Howie Day, and a touch of country but not the weird awkward annoying voice we all know to be Country. If you ever get so lucky as to come across tabs for playing this guys songs on the guitar, Quote me on this: You will make sweet sweet love with LOTS of babes. Your song-to-action ratio will go through the roof. Hes very talented and its crazy nobody really knows about him, i get so much credit for everytime i rock his SHHHT. Ok go out and buy the 3 dollar copy and be an allstar, peace out.

Killer Songs, January 15, 2005
By kav (NJ) - See all my reviews

Saw Charlie open up for the Old 97s in Seaside, NJ of all places. There were about 150 people in the place. I had never heard of him before. Charlie and his band were excellent. I bought the CD that night and have turned into a big fan. The album is filled with solid songs by a gifted songwriter. Standout tracks: Gather the Horses, Simple Things, Close to Home, Silver Buttons, Bay Springs Road...

Catch him live if you can.

I first heard his " Gather the horses" on yahoo radio, and I thought " man, who is this guy? the song has the qualities of Goldplay, U2, Travis, ... and his voice is just amazing" Then I had to buy the album. Reviewer: A music fan

Charlie Mars is one of a kind. Everyone who has the chance to see him live falls in love with his music. His old stuff is worth checking out even if his self titled CD doesn't do it for you. His earlier stuff is more soulful, less pop-ish. Enjoy the unique sound and his sexy raspy voice. I love "black dress" and "broken arrow"...

Groundbreaking album from a veteran musician, July 15, 2004
By Jonathan Clark (Laurel, MS USA) - See all my reviews

Charlie's production has undergone a metamorphosis, now including rich string accompaniments and soft electronic sounds in some places. The lyrics seem painfully earnest, a vehicle for airing the soul out. I have seen the look on his face as he let a few of these songs out, one at a time, and you can just tell he's put his life and soul into this work. It's just art, plain and simple. Charlie's music will definitely stay with you, long after the music's over.

Absolutely Wonderful!, June 15, 2004
By Bethany (Mobile, AL United States) - See all my reviews

I listen to lots of music, and found this to be pure enchantment. Charlie Mars is a romantic, a poet, and a brilliant wordsmith. Haunting words, beautiful music. Hard to select a favorite. Glad to own this one, and recommend this musician!

So any jazz recommendations? There was this record store in Houston that had a lot of Jazz you could sample, it was awesome.

Anything by Diana Krall.

She's gorgeous and talented.

She's got a beautiful voice and her music is smooth as hell.

Thinking, if you like Arturo Sandoval, you know Pancho Sanchez? He's a great percussion player, check out his Latin Soul album.

I'm a bit on the modern side, so a guy like Charlie Hunter (his Songs from the Analog Playground is pretty good) is good.

If you like some of the female vocalists, there's Madeleine Peyroux has been growing on me, if only a bit Starbucksie.

yeah Ill have to check them out and ill let you know.

Dave Grusin has got some decent albums with Sandoval. Let me think, Cyrus Chestnut has a really good album, I think his most recent one.

Are you into bossa nova? And by bossa nova, I mean the good original shit?

Oh, Ruben Gonzalez "Chanchullo", Tito Puente's last album before he died was the shit. Ok this is more latin jazz side.

Latin Jazz is pretty good too though. My old Jazz director had some bad ass cd's from The 1 o clock band from denton. I wish I could get copies of those.

Nice one to end on.

One more: Toots Thielmans "One More for the Road" and any record by Charlie Haden (great stuff for late night drinking).

Nope, this guy is old-school. Came up in 1949 from Belgium. He had his start has a guitarist in a jam band in Paris and then with the George Shearing Quartet. His solo stuff when he was already like 70 is pretty damn good.

That reggae group good? What do you recommend?

No problem, anytime. Just let me know what else you're into and I can think of some more stuff. Another good female vocalist is Karrin Allyson. The Bill Evans Trio is really good if you prefer the more jazzy nightclub feel.

Jamie Cullum -- London Skies

I love this guy, but this is the only song from him i have on my ipod. i think i was using up an itunes gift card, and had one song left..

Wow, wrong thread, but...talk about break up songs...this song has no sentimental value to me...just the words though...fuckin hurt listening to...hearing the first couple of notes made my stomache sorta turn.

Dave Mathews -- Some Devil

One last kiss one only
Then I'll let you go Hard for you
I've fallen
But you can't break my fall
I'm broken don't break me
When I hit the ground

Some devil some angel
Has got me to the bones
You said always and forever
Now I believe you baby
You said always and forever
Is such a long and lonely time

Too drunk and still drinking
It's just the way I feel
It's alright
Is what you told me
Cause what we had was so beautiful
Feel heavy like floating
At the bottom of the sea

You said always and forever
Now I believe you baby
You said always and forever
Is such a long and lonely time

Some devil is stuck inside of me
I cannot set it free
I wish, I wish I was dead and you breathing
Just so that you could know
Some angel is stuck inside of me
But I cannot set you free

You said always and forever
Now I believe you baby
You said always and forever
Such a long and lonely time

Stuck inside of me

ouch...
