    Disagree. He believed in somewhat freedom.
    I wasn’t talking about freedom, I was talking about wealth distribution.

    He asked Rudy for them? How difficult is that?

    And yeah, I'm missing the show, since Fox News themselves thinks he's not serious.

    The only reason anyone gives a about either Facebook or Twitter is because many of you can't stop using those ty platforms. If everybody wouldn't go so ape over them you could just stop giving them your business and capitalism would take over. You should not need government intervention in a capitalist society where the marketplace can regulate businesses based on desired outcome.

    I mean if you want socialism, sure, ask for government regulation every time the market doesn't agree with you which means you don't have enough collective agreement to force the market to change directions.
    Resident s like Nathan just want government to trigger dem libs. They don't care much about capitalism, the cons ution, etc, unless we're talking AOC or Bernie. It's unfortunate, but considering the Trumpian base is uneducated white males, it makes sense too.

    And then there's this:

    18 U.S. Code § 1030.Fraud and related activity in connection with computers
    U.S. Code
    Notes
    prev | next
    (a)Whoever—
    (1)having knowingly accessed a computer without authorization or exceeding authorized access, and by means of such conduct having obtained information that has been determined by the United States Government pursuant to an Executive order or statute to require protection against unauthorized disclosure for reasons of national defense or foreign relations, or any restricted data, as defined in paragraph y. of section 11 of the Atomic Energy Act of 1954, with reason to believe that such information so obtained could be used to the injury of the United States, or to the advantage of any foreign nation willfully communicates, delivers, transmits, or causes to be communicated, delivered, or transmitted, or attempts to communicate, deliver, transmit or cause to be communicated, delivered, or transmitted the same to any person not en led to receive it, or willfully retains the same and fails to deliver it to the officer or employee of the United States en led to receive it;
    (2)intentionally accesses a computer without authorization or exceeds authorized access, and thereby obtains—
    (A)information contained in a financial record of a financial ins ution, or of a card issuer as defined in section 1602(n) [1] of le 15, or contained in a file of a consumer reporting agency on a consumer, as such terms are defined in the Fair Credit Reporting Act (15 U.S.C. 1681 et seq.);
    (B)information from any department or agency of the United States; or
    (C)information from any protected computer;
    (3)intentionally, without authorization to access any nonpublic computer of a department or agency of the United States, accesses such a computer of that department or agency that is exclusively for the use of the Government of the United States or, in the case of a computer not exclusively for such use, is used by or for the Government of the United States and such conduct affects that use by or for the Government of the United States;
    (4)knowingly and with intent to defraud, accesses a protected computer without authorization, or exceeds authorized access, and by means of such conduct furthers the intended fraud and obtains anything of value, unless the object of the fraud and the thing obtained consists only of the use of the computer and the value of such use is not more than $5,000 in any 1-year period;
    Yup. One could argue the CFAA is somewhat overbroad, but it's the law of the land right now.

    Twitter currently acts as a de facto public communication utility. Not sorry.
    Not how it works in the law. Either they're classified as a public utility and regulated as such or they're not. The FCC (a government agency) does such classifications.

    They're not a public utility, sorry.

    Thank you for the link; but you made up sh** basically. This is a privacy breach between two parties. This is not a case about a party who has taken ownership of another party's former data, which is what is being discussed.
    No, actually, it's EXACTLY what happened here. He sent those computers in for data recovery. The notion that he didn't pick up the computers (yet) gives the repairman ownership to the information contained in them is only in your head.

    You asked for a case, I provided a case.

    Why?

    Fox News won a court case by 'persuasively' arguing that no 'reasonable viewer' takes Tucker Carlson seriously

    "Ownership" of the computer is not at issue in this case.

    You provided a completely incompatible case.

    "Ownership" of the computer or even the images is not presented on that link.

    You provided a completely incompatible case.
    Of course it is, just admit you didn't read it and you have no idea what you're talking about.

    vy even posted the statute, and you keep whiffing.

    Sorry this doesn't work the way you want to, it happens.

    Because being classified or not has some regulatory implications, and things government can do in that case. It's actually a very critical distinction.

    You want to apply public utility legal standards to a company that's not a public utility, that's why it's important that you become familiar with that classification.

    That will also answer why they're not being regulated as a public utility, and pretty much make your argument moot.

    I don't particularly care about jail time, unless they committed egregious crimes.

    Both out of politics would be a good start, tbh

    Lock them up.
    Lock them up.

    We don’t get to play them?

    How about one of those golfing condominium prisons?
    They should at least join the other lawyer Cohen.
