i think getting Chris Bosh would have been a better investment for the Cavs. then again, perhaps they are waiting for 2010.
The risk is bad chemistry. Shaq's a team killer.
Look at the Magic, look at the Lakers, look at the Heat and look at the Suns. He's 4 for 4 in giving the gift of the lotto.

You're a ing moron.
You're a ing moron.
You're just looking into the positives.
if there is bad chemistry there is a guy that makes $20,000,000 they can trade as an expiring contract. Better trade bait than the $14,000,000 Ben Wallace was making. How you like that?
Any move carries a "risk" that the trade will result in chemistry problems. You could say the same thing about possible chemistry issues if the Cavs traded for Dwight Howard but you wouldn't call that a risky move.
And, this trade was about 4 months in the making. They started talking about it midseason. The Cavs were at a point where they had exhausted other trade possibilities. They aren't risking on missing out on other trades because they waited four months trying to make a better trade before making this one.
You're searching for ways to criticize the trade. I agree that it doesn't guarantee anything. It doesn't guarantee a le or even that the Cavs would beat the Celtics or Magic. But, there is no "real" risk in the trade.
Cavaliers problem is at the 2 spot not so much the 5 spot.
and nobody is making sense with negatives.
Not at all, I'm happy for the Lakers; Cavs won't be a threat. Just tellin' it like it is.
Shaq's 4 for 4 in giving the gift of the lotto...those are overwhelming odds for bad chemistry.
that is the Cavs' #1 choice, but the Raptors won't trade him this summer, no way. They want fans for the 2009-10 season
Yes look at the Magic, Lakers, Heat, and Suns. 4 NBA les, 6 NBA Finals appearances in 17 seasons. I think the City of Cleveland will take Shaq being a cancer and team killer if he helps them win a le.
No real risk? lol. Its Shaq for Gods sake.
I'm still waiting for the risks other than "chemistry" which the Cavs were #1 in this year and didn't win. Chemistry was the reason the Suns didn't win with Shaq? How about the fact that they didn't play defense, or run a style Shaq was well suited in
Three out of the four teams Shaq's been on went to the NBA Finals soon after acquiring him, two out of those three won NBA les.
If the "gift of the lotto" follows an NBA le, Cavs fans will take it.
you still have failed to identify the risk involved. You keep hinting at it, but have not given us the risk. Give me a scenario that in March, the Cavs will have wished they had Ben Wallace playing on their team rather than Shaq.
it may not make sense, but we've seen it happen with Shaq. Anyways, im not gonna spoil your celebration. Congrats.
The Cavs are at risk of being a championship contender.
Yup 4 les...the last of which was 3 years ago. He only delivered punchlines and games off in Phoenix.
By the time the Playoffs roll around, Shaq's going to be 38 years old.
They gave up Ben Wallace's expiring contract, Sasha Pavlovic, and a middle of the second round draft pick. Shaq on the Cavs might not work, but for what they gave up in return and the fact Shaq's contract is expiring, there was no risk involved.
You mean, the team with no defense? You mean, the team with two all stars who can't guard anybody? I see.
Shaq didn't turn that team into what it is now. Steve Kerr did.
This is where you start changing your argument. You want to go all the way back to Orlando and the Lakers to show how Shaq is a team killer, but you won't even go back 3 years to when he helped a team win a championship.
Listen, I personally don't think Shaq puts the Cavs over the top. I don't even think Shaq helps the Cavs beat a healthy Celtics team. I'm just saying for what they gave up and since Shaq's contract is expiring, there was no risk involved for the Cavs to make this trade.
This is a low risk high reward situation for the Cavs no matter how you slice it. They basically got Shaq for nothing so how could it be a risk? Even if he got hurt or something it's not like they gave anything up to get him and his contract expires at the end of the season so they still have flexibility.
