Yeah, they did a great job of sensationalizing this storm...

That's why 40% of Galveston stayed behind for it.

So they stayed because they didn't get the info?

As someone who owes Chase Manhattan a lot of money, this image is fucking awesome.

I said the same thing to Mrs. ASF when we saw that on the news.

Me and easjer are back at work today. I don't know if her last update got through during a brief bout of power and internet access that we had a few days ago. We and the pets are life and well, the house suffered no real damage (we'll need to replace a plank in the fence that was already a little busted) and got power back on yesterday afternoon. We are some lucky mofo's and we know it. Really all our neighbors were. Almost all the biggest trees in the complex broke in some dramatic fashion and managed to not take out a single home, so :tu to our guardian angels working overtime. We even managed to avoid taking damage from a pair of carports at building across the street that blew apart rather dramatically.

So, in recap, live and well in Houston, at work, and ready to gut every last motherfucker at Comcast like a fucking fish.

I went jetskiing at South Padre. Awesome waves! 10-12 footers inside the Jetties. Deathwish III outside the Jetties. On both sides of the jetties it was a washing machine with 20 foot waves crashing down every which way. Spent 4 days playing at the beach and came back yesterday. Have power, water, and AC :)

Has anyone kept an eye on the CNN live feed? It's crazy. We're getting forwarded calls from our Houston office and things seem pretty crappy. I've had some elderly people call say "I can't get to the food...what do I do?" 'My lights are out...how do I fix it?"

Any meteorologist who called Ike annular is piss poor at what they do. But I tell you what. Why don't we wait for the NHC post season write up on the storm. If they make any mention of Ike being an annular storm you can change my title to anything you want.

http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/pdf/TCR-AL092008_Ike.pdf

Mentions of annular: 0

Just sayin.
