So ICE lied in its report about her being beaten severely.
Sure sounds like it's possibly what happened.
2nd article explains this in much more detail.
The initial one you posted could have been taken like the one Winehole just posted.

163 migrants for a handful of agents initially.
Go ahead booboo, tell us from your couch where you would handle the play by play differently:
163 people, including 50 children who were without parents or guardians. When they were apprehended in a remote desert area near the New Mexico border around 9 p.m. on Dec. 6, officials said, the girl was assessed to be in good health and the father signed a form saying she was not sick.
Around 5 a.m., when the girl got on a bus with her father to a nearby base, he alerted agents she was throwing up and sick. (Ok booboo tell us what you do now. Here is what the gov't workers did)
Agents called ahead to Lordsburg Border Patrol Station about 95 miles away, where the bus was headed, officials said, so paramedics could meet them when they arrived. By the time they arrived around 6:30 a.m., the young girl's father told agents she wasn't breathing, officials said.
Paramedics determined she had a 105.9-degree fever and she was airlifted to a children's hospital in El Paso, Texas

It is one hundred percent legal for migrants to seek asylum in the USA. Contrary to US law, DJT is trying tp prevent people from even asking. Doing so foreseeably increases human suffering and mortality -- no overstatement at all. It's a selling point.
It's clear you're carrying a shield for DJT's sadistic, unlawful immigration policy.

Paul Ryan Loves Mexicans! Just As Long As They're From Ireland
https://assets.rbl.ms/19009024/980x.jpg
He pushed a bill that would grant a whole bunch of extra work visas to Irish immigrants "as a grateful nod to his Irish ancestors," as Politico (https://www.politico.com/story/2018/12/14/paul-ryan-congress-irish-visas-bill-1032517) put it. Isn't that sweet?
And also more than just a little weird, given the Republican obsession with clamping down on immigration in almost every other direction?
The bill would take the annual allotment of E-3 visas reserved for Australians and grant any leftovers to applicants from the Emerald Isle.
Since Australians have only been taking a bit over half the 10,500 work visas available each year since the program started in 2005,
that's another roughly 5,000 white people we could be improving America with, so hey, says Ryan, we need Irish! No, apply!

Trump push to deport Vietnam War refugees scalds California GOP
‘It’s not just bad social policy. It’s incredibly bad politics,’ said one Republican consultant.
a Trump administration push to deport Vietnamese nationals is compounding the party’s problems, possibly cementing the loss of a coastal county that had long been the epicenter of Republican power in California.
As state Republicans try to chart a path out of electoral oblivion, several of them expressed incredulity that Donald Trump would follow the election thrashing by antagonizing one of the few minority groups that has consistently voted for GOP candidates.
“Trump shovels more dirt on California Republicans’ grave...”
the administration would revive its efforts to deport Vietnamese people who arrived in America before 1995.
there are still more registered Republicans than Democrats among Orange County’s roughly 100,000 voters of Vietnamese descent,
Vietnamese-Americans, Madrid said, represent “the only ethnic diversity in the party to speak of.” :lol

Samuel Oliver-Bruno, Deported After an Immigration Appointment
Oliver-Bruno made national headlines when he was slammed to the ground by undercover Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents inside the USCIS Application Support Center,
where he had been instructed by immigration officials to go in order to complete the next step in his request for deferred action.
USCIS and ICE were working together to detain him.
Indeed, it took USCIS fewer than three days to deny Oliver-Bruno deferred action.
Considered a “sanctuary leader” in North Carolina,
Oliver-Bruno was part of a groundbreaking group called Colectivo Santuario (https://rewire.news/article/2018/08/09/exclusive-new-immigrant-led-coalition-is-going-to-get-people-out-of-sanctuary/),

In Immigrant Children’s Shelters, Sexual Assault Cases Are Open and Shut
Across the country, kids are reporting sexual assaults in immigrant children’s shelters. Alex decided to come forward.
He told the shelter two older teens dragged him into a bedroom.
There was surveillance video.
But Alex's case wasn't investigated.
His isn’t the only one.
Over the past six months, ProPublica has gathered
hundreds of police reports detailing allegations of sexual assaults in immigrant children’s shelters,
which have received $4.5 billion for housing and other services since the surge of unaccompanied minors from Central America in 2014.
The reports, obtained through public records requests, revealed a largely hidden side of the shelters — one in which
both staff and other residents sometimes acted as predators (https://www.propublica.org/article/immigrant-youth-shelters-sexual-abuse-fights-missing-children).
Several of the incidents have led to arrests of shelter employees or teenage residents. And in one particularly heinous case, a youth care worker was
convicted in September of molesting seven boys over nearly a year (https://www.propublica.org/article/worker-charged-with-sexually-molesting-eight-children-at-immigrant-shelter) at an Arizona shelter.
The employee had worked for months without a full background check.
the Trump administration had waived FBI fingerprint background checks
Kids at shelters across the country were, indeed, reporting sexual attacks in the shelters, often by other kids. But again and again, the reports show,
the police were quickly — and with little investigation — closing the cases, often within days, or even hours.

I think it’s wrong to be piling on here and somehow blaming ICE.
They’ve had hundreds of thousands of people that they had custody of over the years, and
I think these are the only two children that have died, certainly in recent memory.
So, considering all of that, considering what does happen in housing projects across the country,
I think ICE has an excellent record and

Texas Detention Players Ramp Up Trump’s For-Profit 'Baby Jails'
A Texas court ruling on child-care providers offers the Trump administration a way around protections for underage migrants.
Family detention centers run by the country’s two largest for-profit prison operators are set to become some of Texas’s biggest child-care providers, following a recent state appeals court decision.
Under the ruling, the centers—which have been accused of enabling sexual abuse and allowing children to die in their care—
will receive the same type of licenses granted to the state’s daycares, potentially enabling them to detain children indefinitely.
Without further court action,
the federal government will have succeeded in undermining a court settlement
that for decades has limited its power to detain children and families en masse.

Washington Trained Guatemala’s Mass Murderers—and the Border Patrol Played a Role
Now two Guatemalan children have died under Border Patrol custody.
But the agency’s role in Latin American oppression has a long history.
Since its founding in the early 20th century,
the Border Patrol has operated with near impunity,
becoming arguably the most politicized branch of federal law enforcement—even more so than J. Edgar Hoover’s FBI.
following the 1959 victory of the Cuban Revolution, Longan, who started his career as a police officer in Oklahoma, moved on to work with the CIA, providing security assistance—under the cover of the State Department—to allied anti-communist nations.
Put simply,
Longan taught local intelligence and police agencies how to create death squads to target political activists, deploying tactics that he had earlier used to capture migrants on the border.
He arrived in Guatemala in late 1965, where he put into place a paramilitary unit that, early the next year, would execute what he called Operación Limpieza, or Operation Clean-Up. Within three months,
this unit had conducted over 80 raids and multiple extrajudicial assassinations,
including an action that, over the course of four days,
captured, tortured, and executed more than 30 prominent left-opposition leaders.
The military dumped their bodies into the sea while the government denied any knowledge of their whereabouts.
Longan’s Limpieza was a decisive step forward in the unraveling of Guatemala,
empowering an intelligence system that through the course of
the civil war would be responsible for tens of thousands of disappearances, 200,000 deaths, and countless tortures.
Washington intervened multiple times in Guatemala,
funded a rampaging army,
ran cover for the death squads that its own security agents, like Longan, helped create, and
signaled that it would turn a blind eye to genocide.
two retired generals playing prominent roles in his campaign traveled (https://books.google.com/books?ei=y_SUUYmrL-_p0QGit4FI&id=m-pNAQAAIAAJ&dq=John+Singlaub+%22dirty+work%22+guatemala&q=%22dirty+work%22#search_anchor) to Central America and told Guatemalan officials that
“Mr. Reagan recognizes that a good deal of dirty work has to be done”
Reagan supplied (https://www.nytimes.com/1982/12/19/world/us-military-aid-for-guatemala-continuing-despite-official-curbs.html)munitions and training to the Guatemalan army to carry out that dirty work (despite a ban on military aid imposed during the Carter administration, since existing contracts were exempt from the ban).
Reagan was steadfast in his moral backing (https://www.nytimes.com/1982/04/21/world/us-seeks-to-improve-ties-with-guatemala.html)for Guatemala’s génocidaires, calling (https://www.nytimes.com/1982/12/07/world/guatemalan-is-said-to-pledge-elimination-of-death-squads.html) de facto head of state Gen. Efraín Ríos Montt, who seized power in a coup in the spring of 1982, “a man of great integrity” and “totally dedicated to democracy.”
the US-orchestrated 1954 coup (https://nsarchive2.gwu.edu/NSAEBB/NSAEBB4/) in Guatemala,
which overturned agrarian reform, kicked off decades of political strife in Huehuetenango, pitting local landowners allied with the military against impoverished Maya peasants desperate for land and a better future.
Soldiers went house to house (http://raulfigueroasarti.blogspot.com/2012/07/masacre-en-la-finca-san-francisco.html) rounding up workers and their families, whom they accused of supporting the guerrillas.
They separated children from their parents and killed them by slashing their stomachs or smashing their heads against poles.
Women were raped and then burned alive.
The soldiers killed the men with bullets or by beheading.
After a day of slaughter, 350 people were dead.

A Judge Has Blocked ICE From Conducting Raids On Cambodian Immigrants, For Now
More than 1,800 Cambodian nationals living in the US, many of whom fled the Southeast Asian country as children, have been facing deportation orders.
Federal immigration officials were barred Thursday from conducting any more unannounced raids on Cambodian immigrants living in the US with deportation orders, dealing a blow to the Trump administration, which has significantly stepped up deportations of Southeast Asian immigrants.
Deportations from the US to Cambodia increased by 279% in 2018

Facts About Migrants Don't Always Match What The Headlines Say
a thorough — and often surprising — look at the medical and economic impacts of immigration.
reviewing nearly 300 studies, primarily from this decade but going back as far as 1994.
"There is consistent evidence from multiple disciplines that a range of myths that have been used systematically to justify prejudice against migrants are really not borne out by the facts,"
Do migrants spread infectious diseases?
That's an idea put forth by opponents of migration — most recently with claims that the migrant caravan in Mexico is carrying leprosy, tuberculosis and smallpox (https://www.npr.org/sections/goatsandsoda/2018/11/08/665652847/health-care-for-the-migrant-caravan-flu-blisters-but-definitely-not-smallpox)
Are migrants a burden on local health systems?
Not the migrants who move to high-income countries. They
have a lower mortality rate overall than locals.
The commission sites studies showing that over the years, and across age groups, there are
proportionally fewer deaths among migrants. They're less likely to die from heart disease, cancer and other common conditions.
migrants offer a benefit to health-care systems by providing key personnel. "One of the things the report clearly establishes is high-income countries are hugely dependent on migrants from low-income countries for medical care, teaching and caring for grandparents,"
refugees fleeing difficult situations — fewer than 10 percent of the total migrant community —
do present challenges when it comes to mental health issues.
They had about double the incidence of depression and anxiety as migrants moving for employment.
https://www.npr.org/sections/goatsandsoda/2018/12/06/671879631/report-facts-about-migrants-dont-always-match-what-the-headlines-say (https://www.npr.org/sections/goatsandsoda/2018/12/06/671879631/report-facts-about-migrants-dont-always-match-what-the-headlines-say)
So migrant fleeing violence are no different from US military with PTSD, and killing themselves, even w/o deployment
(https://www.npr.org/sections/goatsandsoda/2018/12/06/671879631/report-facts-about-migrants-dont-always-match-what-the-headlines-say)There's probably more mentally ill military from US warring with the planet for profit, than there are migrants with mental problems.

Family Separation May Have Hit Thousands More Migrant Children Than Reported
The Trump administration most likely separated thousands more children from their parents at the Southern border than was previously believed, according to a report by government inspectors released on Thursday.
The federal government has reported that nearly 3,000 children were forcibly separated from their parents under last year’s “zero tolerance” immigration policy, under which nearly all adults entering the country illegally were prosecuted, and any children accompanying them were put into shelters or foster care.
the department had identified 2,737 children who were separated from their parents
Thousands of children may have been separated during an influx that began in 2017, before the accounting required by the court, the report said.
Thus, the total number of children separated from a parent or guardian by immigration authorities is “unknown,” because of the lack of a coordinated formal tracking system between the Office of Refugee Resettlement, the arm of Health and Human Services that takes in the children, and the Department of Homeland Security, which separated them from their parents.
thousands of migrant parents spending months in agonized uncertainty, unable to communicate with their children and in many cases not knowing even where the children were.
Infants and toddlers were among the children who were put into foster homes or migrant children shelters, often hundreds or thousands of miles away from where their parents were detained.
Under separate policies, the administration also made it difficult for relatives other than the children’s parents to take the children into their own homes.
more than 700 migrant children (https://www.nytimes.com/2018/04/20/us/immigrant-children-separation-ice.html?module=inline) had been separated from their families in the months before the government officially announced the zero-tolerance policy.
directed the federal government to halt the separations at the border and to reunite children with their parents. President Trump rescinded the policy that same month.
However, the federal inspectors found that separations have continued to occur: As of November, the report found, Health and Human Services had received at least 118 children who had been separated from their families since the court order.
inspectors believed the number of separated children may be “thousands” more than the 2,737 reported to the court.

A can of commissary tuna sold for $3.25. That is more than four times the price at a Target store near the small desert town of Adelanto, about two hours northeast of Los Angeles.
Cruz stuck with ramen noodles at 58 cents a package, double the Target price.
A miniature deodorant stick, at $3.35 and more than three days’ wages, was an impossible luxury, he said.

It may not be (https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/finding-all-migrant-children-separated-their-families-may-be-impossible-n966266) "within the realm of the possible" to reunite thousands of migrant children separated from their families at the southern border with their parents or guardians, the Trump administration said in court filings late Friday.

Trump Administration Jailing Immigrant Children In Secret Facilities
The Trump administration is jailing more than a dozen immigrant children (https://shareblue.com/judge-orders-trump-team-return-every-stolen-separated-child-families/) in at least five clandestine facilities across the country whose existence has not been made public until now
The previously unheard-of practice may violate court mandates on how the U.S. government must treat immigrant children, Reveal notes — and even more secret facilities like this could exist.
While the minors were initially placed at “known shelters,” Reveal reports, they were then transferred to “off-the-books facilities that specialize in providing for youth with mental health and behavioral challenges.”
There are at least 16 children being detained, some as young as 9 years old, in facilities in Arkansas, Florida, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, and Virginia.
Under a 1997 court agreement known as the Flores Settlement,
the federal government must let attorneys representing jailed children know where each child in ORR custody is being held.
It appears that ORR did not follow this court mandate in these cases.
“Detained unaccompanied children with mental health issues are some of the most vulnerable children, and
when the government does not provide access to their whereabouts,
it calls into question the basic underpinnings of our democratic institutions,”

The oligarchy's whores in robes rule, 5-4, for ethnic cleansing
Supreme Court Disregards Due Process, Allows ICE to Detain Certain Immigrants Indefinitely
The Supreme Court delivered a brutal blow to immigrants’ rights on Tuesday morning,
ruling that the Trump administration may detain unauthorized immigrants indefinitely once they have been taken into criminal custody.
Its 5–4 decision permits the government
to arrest and imprison undocumented individuals who were released from custody years, even decades ago.
Even immigrants convicted in the distant past of a minor crime, like possession of a stolen bus transfer, may now be apprehended and detained without bond.
To reach this result, the court’s conservative justices manipulated the plain text of a federal statute and ignored basic principles of due process.
The ACLU notes that the statute has two parts:
First, it directs the government to take certain aliens into custody “when the alien is released” from prison;
second, it instructs the government to hold aliens “described in” this first section without bond. (Emphasis mine.)
The ACLU argues that the law does not give ICE a blank check to arrest and indefinitely detain these aliens years after they’ve been freed.
Instead, it
gives ICE an opportunity to detain immigrants without bond—if agents arrest them “when” they’re released from custody.
If ICE instead waits for months, years, or decades to arrest these individuals,
the ACLU asserts, they must treat them like other unauthorized immigrants by providing them with an opportunity for release.

Before Trump’s purge at DHS, top officials challenged plan for mass family arrests

U.S. Border Patrol, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents take part in a safety drill in New Mexico on Jan. 31, 2019.
In the weeks before they were ousted last month, Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen and top immigration enforcement official Ronald Vitiello challenged
a secret White House plan
to arrest thousands of parents and children in a blitz operation against migrants in 10 major U.S. cities.
The ultimate purpose, the officials said, was a show of force to send the message that the United States was going to get tough by swiftly moving to detain and deport recent immigrants — including families with children.
The sprawling operation included an effort to fast-track immigration court cases, allowing the government to obtain deportation orders against those who did not show for their hearings — officials said 90 percent of those targeted were found deportable in their absence.
The subsequent arrests would have required
coordinated raids against parents with children in their homes and neighborhoods.
But Vitiello and Nielsen halted it, concerned about a lack of preparation by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents,
the risk of public outrage and worries that it would divert resources from the border.
Stephen Miller and ICE Deputy Director Matthew Albence were especially supportive of the plan,
officials said, eager to execute dramatic, highly visible mass arrests that they argued would help deter the soaring influx of families.

Officials in Broward and Palm Beach counties, which are Democratic strongholds, say they are the target of Trump's plan, and that as many as 500 people a week could be dropped in their communities with no federal support for housing, food, education, or security.
The officials said they should "expect the arrival twice a week of 135 asylum seekers, rerouted from the El Paso area. That is equivalent to about 1,000 people per month, divided between the two counties." The arrivals could happen as soon as next week and as of now will continue indefinitely.
even Republican Trump supporters like Gov. Ron DeSantis worked up, since he and other Florida lawmakers have apparently been kept in the dark until now.
"The blatant politics, sending them to the two most Democratic Counties in the state of Florida, is ridiculous,"
No accommodations for shelter or a place to live,"
He also suggested that the county could take those needing shelter "to the Trump hotels and ask the President to open his heart and home as well." Mar-a-Lago is right there in Palm Beach County.

OB-GYN Says U.S. Marshals Service Is Shackling Detained Pregnant Migrants
May 14, 2019, 12:11pmTina Vasquez (https://rewire.news/author/tina-vasquez/)
The doctor told Rewire.News that as recently as March, a woman in USMS custody experienced birth complications exacerbated by a delay in care “the patient asked for over and over again."
For some pregnant women migrating to the United States to seek asylum, there is no refuge to be found. If federal immigration authorities apprehend them in the borderlands, they may be prosecuted and detained. In custody, they receive negligent medical care that endangers their lives
the policy is much broader than family separation, and it continues to this day. The U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) is the oft-overlooked federal law enforcement agency helping to carry out President Trump’s zero-tolerance policy in Texas.
What we found raised a host of questions about the safety of pregnant people seeking asylum in the United States.
USMS doesn’t always bring women in for prenatal care. USMS also pays for hospitalization for labor and delivery, though the federal law enforcement agency can contest pregnancy services at any time.
have seen an increase in detained patients experiencing heavy bleeding, irregular bleeding, and pelvic pain.
Some women referred to her hospital by USMS have stopped menstruating since being detained. These women are rarely pregnant, she said, but rather their menstruation cycle has been affected by the compounded stress of criminalization and previous traumatic experiences.
Many of her patients are women from Central America, women who have been physically abused or sexually assaulted, sometimes while migrating but usually in their countries of origin.

Meet the Federal Agency Helping to Criminalize Pregnant Migrants
Pregnant asylum seekers in Texas are held in federal custody and must sometimes endure life-threatening circumstances, according to one advocate, because of the way the United States has chosen to criminalize those seeking asylum.
one federal law enforcement agency has largely operated under the radar. And, advocates say, it’s committing “atrocities” against pregnant migrants.
USMS is the agency helping to criminalize one of the most at-risk populations in federal custody.

Trump Administration Separates Some Migrant Mothers From Their Newborns Before Returning Them to Detention
“I don’t know if they lose their babies for good,” one doctor said. “But I do know the process is torturous for them.”
migrants prosecuted under the “zero-tolerance” policy are remanded to U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) custody, and this is when lapses in medical care happen.
pregnant migrants detained in USMS custody are not receiving adequate services, and they are shackled when accessing prenatal and postpartum care. Some women are even shackled during birth,
some asylum seekers in the Western District of Texas who have given birth in USMS custody were forced to hand over their newborns to the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS). Reuniting with their newborn hinges on their release from federal custody, and whether they can access legal help to navigate the child welfare system.

A Fox News anchor lied about immigrants during the town hall with Julian Castro
Martha MacCallum echoed the false claim made by Trump 'border czar' pick and Fox contributor Tom Homan
MacCallum falsely claimed that 90% of immigrants who are detained and then released “do not ever show up for their court date.”
Multiple studies (https://www.humanrightsfirst.org/resource/fact-check-asylum-seekers-regularly-attend-immigration-court-hearings) have also shown that
over 90% of asylum-seekers in several categories actually do appear for their court hearings.
Obama-era Family Case Management Program, which he said saw a “more than a 98% return rate” for immigrants going to court.

The Trump administration argued in front of a Ninth Circuit panel Tuesday that the government is not required to give soap or toothbrushes to children apprehended at the U.S.-Mexico border and can have them sleep on concrete floors in frigid, overcrowded cells, despite a settlement agreement that requires detainees be kept in “safe and sanitary” facilities.

Did the Obama Administration Separate Families?
“Bush and Obama did not have policies that resulted in the mass separation of parents and children
like we’re seeing under the current administration,” Sarah Pierce (https://www.migrationpolicy.org/about/staff/sarah-pierce), a policy analyst with the Migration Policy Institute
Jeh Johnson, DHS secretary under the Obama administration, told NPR (https://www.npr.org/2018/06/09/618496706/jeh-johnson-on-immigration-and-trump) earlier this month that he couldn’t say that family separations “never happened” during his tenure.
“There may have been some exigent situation, some emergency. There may have been some doubt about whether the adult accompanying the child was in fact the parent of the child.
I can’t say it never happened but not as a matter of policy or practice. It’s not something that I could ask our Border Patrol or our immigration enforcement personnel to do,”
a multi-agency team was considering “every possible idea” at the time, including separating families.
“I do remember looking at each other like, ‘We’re not going to do this, are we?’ We spent five minutes thinking it through and concluded that it was a bad idea,” the Times quoted Muñoz saying.
“The morality of it was clear — that’s not who we are.”
Brown told us that while the Obama administration “did separate some families,” it also tried to detain families together.
In 2016, a court ruling (https://cdn.ca9.uscourts.gov/datastore/opinions/2016/07/06/15-56434.pdf) limited how long children with their parents could be in family detention centers.
That ruling confirmed that a 1997 settlement applied to both unaccompanied and accompanied minors, as we’ve explained before (https://www.factcheck.org/2018/06/nielsens-rhetoric-on-family-separations/).
“At that point,” Brown said, “family detention dwindled and most families were released into the US,
https://www.factcheck.org/2018/06/did-the-obama-administration-separate-families/
Trash separated 1000s of kids from "criminal" parents whose "crime" was seeking asylum (violating US and international law), kids that now are lost to the DHS.
Kids are being sexually abused in detention, so no doubt the lost kids "released" are being sexually abused.
In short, Trash's goons and Spursbabblers are using lying FALSE FUCKING EQUIVALENCE that
"Trash separates (1000s of kids now missing), but it's OK because Obama separated (some kids)"
America tortures kids and sicko, sadistic, Trash and Miller are the torturers in chief.

Feds plan mass migrant deportation operation in Houston this weekend: What you need to know
Immigrations and Customs Enforcement is targeting over 2,000 undocumented immigrants with the goal of deporting them.
The operation will hit several major U.S. cities, including Houston, where thousands of migrants have been issued deportation orders this year.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement says it plans to target 2,000 undocumented people (https://www.texastribune.org/2019/06/21/ice-plans-sunday-raids-targeting-migrant-families-houston-other-cities/) who already have deportation orders or have missed court dates.
The operation will begin Sunday in Houston and several other cities.
Here's what you need to know:
ICE is targeting violent people, but other undocumented migrants could be affected.
in general there are reasons for removal, including criminal acts, violating terms of visas or entering the United States unlawfully.
ICE will target violent criminals for removal, but “priorities do not mean other categories are exempt.”
Immigration laws prevent the federal government from deporting refugees or immigrants seeking asylum.
Tens of thousands of deportation orders have been issued in Texas.
So far in fiscal year 2019, Texas has issued more than 25,000 deportation orders,
with the largest number coming from courts in Houston (8,319),
Dallas (4,794) and
San Antonio (3,698),

Trump yet again lies about his family separation policy but gets fact-checked to his face
an interview (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ONN6fRkV8iY) with Telemundo’s José Díaz-Balart, where
he lied about the usual, like taking credit for President Obama’s Veterans Choice health care program, :lol
and the laughable, like falsely claiming (https://www.univision.com/univision-news/politics/exclusive-new-poll-shows-trump-has-a-big-hispanic-problem-in-florida)he’s gaining huge support from
“the Hispanics” because they “want toughness at the border.” :lol
But the most shameless lying was regarding his humanitarian disaster at the border.
“The ‘zero tolerance’ policy, was that a mistake?” Díaz-Balart asked.
“When I became president, President Obama had a separation policy,” Trump replied, lying. :lol
“I didn’t have it, he had it. I brought the families together. I’m the one that put them together.” :lol
Díaz-Balart knew this was a pile of lies and would say so just a few moments later,
but first laid out the scale of Trump’s disastrous policy to his face.
”2,800 children were reunited with their parents in the last year,” he told Trump. “We don’t even know—
the government doesn’t even know how many children are still not with their parents.
They don’t know, which I find incredible.”
Trump tries to go back to blaming an “Obama plan,” :lol
but Díaz-Balart, sensing the imminent bullshit rant, begins to tell Trump that, no, we’re talking about what he did.
“Sir, we’re talking about your plan.”
“I’m the one that put people together, they separated, I put them together,” Trump tried to counter. :lol
”You did not,” Díaz-Balart informs him.
“2,800 children were reunited with their parents in this last year after the ‘zero tolerance’ policy separated thousands of them.” Trump replied, “Excuse me, because I put them together,” of course not all seeking to be excused. “That’s because I put them together.”
Díaz-Balart, without missing a beat, replies, “Under court order, I might add, right?”
Yup, because it was only
under a federal judge’s order that the administration began to reunite these families,
and it’s been only under court order that the administration is now tracking down other children (https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2019/05/20/1859028/-Trump-admin-identifies-1,712-additional-migrant-kids-it-may-have-stolen%E2%80%94and-that-number-may-grow) who were separated before his policy was officially in place.
Officials have so far identified 1,712 additional kids, and because they’re only partly through that court-mandated recount, there could be thousands more.
A year after Trump signing an executive order supposedly ending the policy his administration created,
kids are still getting separated from families.

Years Ago, the Border Patrol’s Discipline System Was Denounced as “Broken.” It’s Still Not Fixed.
An expert panel’s pleas for swifter, more consistent, more transparent punishment of rogue agents languish.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection seemed in crisis, and the panel subsequently determined that the agency was plagued by a system that allowed bad actors to stay on the payroll for years after they’d engaged in egregious, even criminal, misconduct.
the panel — headed by William Bratton, who had run police departments in Boston, New York City and Los Angeles — was deeply concerned about the persistent strain of lawlessness among CBP employees.
In a preliminary 2015 report, the panel had noted that
“arrests for corruption of CBP personnel far exceed, on a per capita basis, such arrests at other federal law enforcement agencies.”
CBP, the panel’s members concluded, was “vulnerable to corruption that threatens its effectiveness and national security.”
The administration of President Donald Trump has pledged to take the “handcuffs off” law enforcement agents as part of an aggressive push to stem the flow of migrants across the country’s southern border.
:lol Illegally brutalize the immigrants, that will stop them from coming. Beating up people for political objectives is torture, but dubya vowed "America doesn't torture" (but AmeriKKKa does)
The performance of Border Patrol agents was one element of the widespread outrage provoked by the administration’s decision to separate children from their parents at the border.
The panel recommended that CBP hire 350 internal affairs investigators over a three-year period and task them with looking into misconduct and corruption. So far, the agency has brought on only about 50 investigators.
Every year, approximately 250 CBP employees are arrested,
many on suspicion of serious felonies; dozens have been jailed in recent years on corruption charges, including weapons trafficking and collaborating with Mexican drug cartels.

Inside a Texas Building Where the Government Is Holding Immigrant Children
Hundreds of immigrant children who have been separated from their parents or family members are
being held in dirty, neglectful, and dangerous conditions
at Border Patrol facilities in Texas.
This week, a team of lawyers interviewed more than fifty children at one of those facilities, in Clint, Texas, in order to monitor government compliance with the Flores settlement,
which mandates that children must be held in safe and sanitary conditions and moved out of Border Patrol custody without unnecessary delays.
The conditions the lawyers found (https://apnews.com/46da2dbe04f54adbb875cfbc06bbc615) were shocking:
flu and lice outbreaks were going untreated, and
children were filthy,
sleeping on cold floors, and
taking care of each other
because of the lack of attention from guards.
Some of them had been in the facility for weeks.
some of the lawyers were so disturbed by what they saw that they decided to talk to the media.
We discussed the daily lives of the children in custody,
the role that the guards are playing at the facility, and
what should be done to unite many of these kids with their parents.
when we start to interview the child, they start to tell us things like
they’re sleeping on the floor, they’re sick, nobody’s taking care of them, they’re hungry,
then we do a more in-depth interview. And those interviews can take two hours or even longer. So it depends on what the children tell us.
What is the attitude of the guards to your team?
They are on our side.
Multiple guards told us while we were there that they are on our side and they want us to be successful,
because the children don’t belong there,
and the children need to be picked up and put in appropriate places for children. They want us to be successful.
the fact is that some of the guards are bad people, and there’s no question about it.
I just got back from this facility where laws were being broken right and left.
There is a judgment in this case that says that children are supposed to be treated a certain way when they are in government custody.
All of these children are in government custody, and those very basic standards are being violated.
there is nothing sanitary about the conditions they are in.
And they are not safe, because they are getting sick, and
they are not being adequately supervised by the Border Patrol officers.
This is a violation of the case law.
in no event are they supposed to be there for more than seventy-two hours.
And many of them were there for three and a half weeks.

Author kidnapped by Somali pirates absolutely destroys the integrity of Trump and DHS Sec Kirstjen Nielsen
In January of 2012, Moore was kidnapped in Galkayo, Somali and held until being liberated by Navy SEALs in September of 2014.
Moore posted a video of a Trump Department of Justice official attempting to justify not giving toothpaste or soap to children detained by the Department of Homeland Security under Sec. Kirstjen Nielsen.
“Somali pirates gave me toothpaste and soap,” Moore noted.

Donald Trump, again, falsely says Obama had family separation policy
Trump’s persistent claims don’t align with the facts. :lol
Separations under past administrations rare,
systematic under Trump
Generally, a child and an adult who arrive together at the border can be separated
when border officials cannot establish the custodial relationship;
when they believe the custodian may be a threat to the child; or
when the custodian is being detained for prosecution.
Immigration experts have told us that family separations were relatively rare under Obama and other past administrations.
They did not happen at nearly the scale that they did under the Trump administration.
George W. Bush’s Operation Streamline referred for prosecution immigrants who crossed into the country illegally, but made exceptions for adults traveling with children.
The Obama administration initially kept families together in detention, but after losing a legal challenge (https://www.politifact.com/punditfact/statements/2018/jun/19/matt-schlapp/no-donald-trumps-separation-immigrant-families-was/), released families out of detention after holding them for a limited time.

As immigrant children go without soap and toothbrushes, Trump and Pence say Congress is to blame
Pence ... blamed Congressional Democrats for the lack of sufficient bed space, arguing that they had stymied efforts to increase funding for US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) during the government shutdown last winter.
Trump also said that Democrats were to blame for the poor conditions at the border.
“It looks like these kids are being used as, as some sort of — is it hostages?” Todd asked.
“If the Democrats would change the asylum laws and the loopholes, which they refuse to do because they think it’s good politics, everything would be solved immediately. But they refuse to do it,”
The Trump administration has defended these conditions in court
Justice Department attorney (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z2GkDz9yEJA) arguing before the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals that
withholding basic amenities, like soap and toothbrushes, from detained migrants does not violate the government’s responsibility
to provide “safe and sanitary” conditions to detained children,
The Trump administration says only Congress can provide toiletries
During their interviews, Pence and Trump were pressed about why they couldn’t just find the money for basic amenities.
“This is the wealthiest nation in the world,” Tapper said to Pence. “We have the money to give toothpaste and soap and blankets to these kids in [the Clint facility]. Right now, we do.”
Pence said that the funding had to come through an appropriations bill.

Cuellar Pushes for $60 Million in Reimbursement for San Antonio and Other Cities Aiding Central American Migrants After Texas Failed to Distribute Funds
U.S. Rep. Henry Cuellar is pushing for $60 million in federal funds to reimburse organizations in San Antonio and other Texas cities that have aided Central American migrants.
The money would be made available directly from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, since the State of Texas failed to help distribute $100 million in federal funds included in a similar 2014 bill, said Cuellar, D-Laredo. The state only paid out $400,000 from that earlier pot of money, he added.

including a “completely unresponsive” girl who was so sick that her “eyes were rolled back in her head”—
following a recent inspection of a detention facility in McAllen, Texas.
“The children, all under age 3 with teenage mothers or guardians, were feverish, coughing, vomiting and had diarrhea, immigration attorneys told HuffPost on Friday.
Some of the toddlers and infants were refusing to eat or drink.”
The children were hospitalized only because the attorneys,
who had been inspecting a number of border facilities as part of the Flores Agreement,
forced detention officials to do it;

They were released from the facility only because attorneys and advocates raised hell.

dad Vasile continued on with Constantin to the family’s destination of the U.S. border, where he believed he had a better chance of reuniting. Instead, the worst happened when he encountered Border Patrol.
“I started crying because I didn’t know what to do,” he said when they took the baby. “I couldn’t speak English. I told them, ‘I don’t understand. Why?’”
Mutu “still in detention, sank deeper into depression,” The New York Times continued.
“He couldn’t sleep and refused most of the food that he was offered … he cried so much that his cell mates started beating him to make him be quiet. He thought about committing suicide.”
he was told by immigration officials that if he dropped his asylum claim he would be deported with his child.
Plenty of other parents have also said (https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2018/7/6/1778527/-Migrant-families-describe-abuse-from-immigration-agents-Don-t-you-know-that-we-hate-you-people) that they were coerced into giving up their asylum claims as well.
Desperate, he reluctantly agreed, but
the officials had lied to him. When the plane carrying Mutu took off, Constantin was nowhere to be seen.
The boy had been sent to live with a foster family in Michigan through Bethany Christian Services, “which has long faced accusations of discriminating against LGBTQ couples and coercing parents into giving up babies for adoption,”
“Bethany has a massive reach, with an annual revenue of more than $98 million, millions of which comes from government-funded programs, tax filings (https://www.guidestar.org/profile/38-2822017) show.”
The judge quickly ruled against her, questioning the idea
‘that the respondent should be responsible for making his own way back to Romania as an 8-month-old.’”
The next month, he was set to return to Romania.
“He was 9 months old and had spent the majority of his life in the custody of the United States government.”
He babbles and squeals, but as far as words go, she said, ‘He says absolutely nothing.’”
so much damage has already been done.
Cruel, intentional damage, at the hands of the United States government, that didn’t even spare a four-month-old child.

Former ICE Director Tears Trump To Shreds For Claiming Obama Separated Migrant Families
The man who previously ran the department Donald Trump is now using to separate thousands of migrant families tore the president to shreds on Tuesday for repeatedly lying about Barack Obama’s record on immigration.
former acting ICE Director John Sandweg said Trump’s claim that he ended family separation “categorically false.”
“There was no family separation under the Obama administration,” Sandweg said. “In fact, the policy was the exact opposite.”
Ari, that’s categorically false.

Wayfair employee walkout called over alleged furniture sales to U.S. migrant camp
Wayfair Inc came under pressure on Tuesday after hundreds of employees were reported to be planning a walkout over the retailer’s alleged sale of more than $200,000 in bedroom furniture for a Texas detention facility for migrant children.
wayfairwalkout, created this month with a following of more than 13,000 including high-profile Democratic U.S. Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, called for the work stop on Wednesday.
It demanded that Wayfair stop selling to migrant detention camps and that it give profits, which they claim amount to $86,000, to a Texas-based non-profit agency offering legal services to immigrants.
The walkout, scheduled to take place on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. ET in Boston’s Copley Square, is the latest example of employees protesting workplace social issues.

House passes $4.5B border funding bill
The House passed a $4.5 billion border funding bill in a 230-195

The Emergency Supplemental Appropriations for Humanitarian Assistance and Security at the Southern Border Act, which aims to provide humanitarian aid and address the flow of migrants,
faces a veto threat from the White House :lol

An amendment to the just-passed bill, unveiled by the House Appropriations Committee on Tuesday morning, added provisions that would require (https://thehill.com/homenews/house/450185-house-democrats-unveil-changes-to-border-bill-to-win-over-progressives) Customs and Border Protection
to enact health standards for individuals in custody, including implementing standards for both adults and children

place a time limit on the amount of time unaccompanied minors can spend at an influx shelter.

Congress fluidly alerting to immigration staffing/funding issues sounds like a recipe for the institutionalization of more immigrant camps, just saying.
If Trump can scrounge up the money to hire the US Army to install concertina wire, he can scrounge up the change to treat his own detainees like human beings.

which definition works for you?
Anne Frank and her sister died of typhus. They were denied food and medical care, and that was what killed them.
The right might not not want the parallels to the Trump camps, but squalid inhumane conditions are squalid inhumane conditions.
The term is sort of irrelevant. The conditions though...
How much evidence do you have that some of the worst things we are seeing are intentional, due to either a desire for deterrence or cruelty? Or is this more about the system being overwhelmed?
I have been hearing stories about the hielera, or ice box. This is what people call cold cells with concrete floors, or the mobile-mini [detention sites] that are littered around the hinterlands of south and central Texas. I have been hearing clients talking to me about these since I started doing this work, in 2003. And I spoke with young African men in their twenties, ten years ago. I have spoken with young Central-American children this year. And across geography, across age, across language, I have heard consistent stories about mistreatment and abuse inside of Customs and Border Protection custody. You hear about the refrigerated boxes people get shoved in. You hear about the separations of people from their children. You hear about manhandlings and rough treatment, unnecessary body-checking, shoving, pushing, hitting. You hear about cruel and abusive language: “Welcome to hell”; “If you think this is bad, wait until what you have in store for you next”; “You have no rights”; “If you ask for asylum, we will keep you here forever.”
And you cannot hear about this again and again and again, over years, and think it is an aberration from training. No, this is the training that the officers are receiving. And it has not changed in nature. We have seen this evil for many years, but it has increased dramatically in scale because of the explosion of funding over the past ten, fifteen years. It has increased in efficiency because of the collusion between the government and Big Tech, who are the backbone of ice and Border Patrol, making their sinister acts more efficient. And it has increased in severity because we have a Commander-in-Chief who is telegraphing to all of these officers from the top down that he wants to see the cruelty, that he wants them to make people’s head hit the top of the car door.

How were you unaware of the squalid inhumane conditions during the Obama administration?
During the Obama administration, family separations were rare and predicated upon two conditions: whether border officials felt the parents or guardians posed a threat to the children, or whether the adults, under U.S. immigration law, had to be detained based on prior criminal convictions.
https://www.vox.com/2019/6/21/18700575/trump-family-separation-policy-obama-time-telemundo
Kind of hard to have squalid and inhumane conditions for children when they aren't seperated en masse from their parents, pizzaboichik.
Prove the underlying assertion, if you wish an answer. Snuck premises are the height of sophistry.
U.S. District Judge Dolly Gee in Los Angeles granted the class’ motion and ordered the appointment of an independent monitor to ensure government compliance with Flores.
Gee said the administration had breached Flores by failing to provide detainees with adequate food and clean drinking water, or with hygiene items like soap, toothbrushes and towels. She also concluded that the children were being deprived of sleep and access to bathrooms, and were subjected to near-freezing temperatures.

Senate Passes Bipartisan Border Funding Bill
The Senate (https://www.theepochtimes.com/t-senate) approved a $4.5 billion border (https://www.theepochtimes.com/t-border) funding bill on June 26, setting up a confrontation with House Democrats who passed their own version of the bill the day before.
The Senators voted 84-8 in a rare display of bipartisanship to fund President Donald Trump’s humanitarian aid request for the southern border.
In contrast, Democrats in the House voted along party lines the day before to pass a competing bill, despite a veto threat from Trump.
The Senate voted down the House bill.
Lawmakers raced to get a bill for Trump to sign before heading to a weeklong Independence Day recess, but with Nancy Pelosi’s insistence for a compromise solution, no bill will likely be agreed on until after the break.
The House bill included
funding shortfalls for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE),
restrictions on how the money can be used, and
a rollback of Trump’s order to cut aid to Guatemala, El Salvador, and Honduras.

I couldn’t believe they have nowhere to wash their hands. The shower range was every other day all the way up to never in 24 days, that was just insane. That’s the only time they get to brush their teeth, when they shower, then their toothbrush gets thrown away. Between that, there was no handwashing, no anything, no hand sanitizer. Every person with a formula bottle said they had nowhere to wash that. If they wanted to even rinse their hands or rinse formula bottles, they would bring drinking water to the sink and try and rinse there. but described catching glimpses through fencing of detained kids in conditions she compared to a prison.
“There’s packed earth—nothing green,” she described in a video following her visit, saying that
she witnessed children, in single-file lines, being moved from structure to structure.
“No laughing. No playing. So I waved to the children. Some kept their heads down.
Some looked our way and then quickly looked back down.
Others waved but then put their hands down.”
Conditions at this privately run prison camp are atrocious,
with kids forbidden from even writing in a journal and
others faced with threats of prolonged imprisonment for rule-breaking.
“I couldn’t tell what the guards were saying to them,” Warren continued.
“But that’s not what kids are supposed to look like,
that’s not how kids are supposed to act.
These are children who are prisoners.”

No toothbrushes or showers, kids coughing all night: Migrants describe conditions inside border facilities
The Tribune interviewed more than a dozen migrants after their release from U.S. Customs and Border Protection facilities. The conditions they described ranged from livable to horrible.
They don’t shower or brush their teeth for days on end. They watch their sick kids cough and cry through the night. And some of them brave toilets so foul, one migrant said, that kids can’t help but throw up inside of them.
“They don’t have the humanitarian conditions for people to be there,” said Gary, a 33-year-old migrant from Siguatepeque, Honduras, who would only give his first name.

“There were more than 200 of us in a single cage — seated on the floor, standing, however we could fit.” He said the stench inside overflowing toilets was so bad it made him gag and caused children to vomit.

Border Patrol took kid's blankets, forced them to sleep on concrete floor, because they lost a comb (https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2019/6/23/1866706/-Border-Patrol-took-kid-s-blankets-forced-them-to-sleep-on-concrete-floor-because-they-lost-a-comb)
we received reports from children of a lice outbreak in one of the cells where
there were about twenty-five children, and
what they told us is that six of the children were found to have lice.
And so they were given a lice shampoo, and the other children were given two combs and told to share those two combs,
two lice combs, and
brush their hair with the same combs,
which is something you never do with a lice outbreak.
And then what happened was one of the combs was lost, and
Border Patrol agents got so mad that they took away the children’s blankets and mats.
They weren’t allowed to sleep on the beds, and they had to sleep on the floor on Wednesday night as punishment for losing the comb.
So you had a whole cell full of kids who had beds and mats at one point, not for everybody but for most of them,
who were forced to sleep on the cement.

Up until not long ago, a request for asylum was not met with jail. Immigration was, again, not that long ago, a civil, not a criminal matter. So, I don't think they really volunteered to be in jail, it just so happens that this administration chose to do it this way.
I also disagree that "incarcerated" is a bit strong, it's actually what's happening.

It's dumbfounding just how backwardly Americans understand migration and asylum. 90% of conservatives seem to think the camps are holding people who tried to sneak into the country and live in America as illegals.
These camps are holding people who came in through legal ports of entry to legally apply for asylum. The conditions are actively encouraging more illegal immigration. What happens when people desperate to get out of their country are faced with the possibility of being held in shitty conditions and separated from their children? Do you choose staying in your country, and possible death? Or do you choose to find a different route where you won't be picked up, and skip the whole asylum process?

Disgusting concentration camps - but not shocking at all.
When the White Supremacist criminal traitor labeled humans as "animals" "murderers" & "rapists" and labeled the asylum seekers as "an infestation" - he was intentionally beginning the work of de-sensitizing his blind racist cult followers to look the other way when atrocities took place.
He was conditioning his racist cult to see those victims as "other" and "not like us" -
This is exactly how people in the USA attended lynching viewing parties and watched and celebrated as blacks were hung from trees. They had already been told that blacks were "not human" and "sub-human." When they saw their bodies hanging from a tree and writhing and struggling and heard bones popping and noises emanate from tortured bodies - they cheered. They squealed. They laughed and it was "quite the event."
Do not lie to yourself -
when these racist cult idiots like the ones posting here - see these images of these concentration camps and hear of these human rights abuses -
they secretly celebrate their white supremacist hero. They cheer him on and cannot believe he is following through on his attack on non-whites so brazenly, so openly and unapologetically -they cannot believe he can get away with it-
they are like teen girls watching a pop idol - just creaming their panties in delight.
This is why they continue to support him because their racist white amerikkka is being fought for mightily by their white supremacist useful idiot.
The criminals in prisons who actually murdered, raped, molested, assaulted - all have civil rights and if these abuses were perpetrated on those convicted murderers and rapists - there would be outrage - real outrage.
Yet these asylum seekers who had a choice:
Stay in your country where climate change has made growing crops and keeping a sustainable food supply is becoming impossible - and where cartels either take your daughters as sex slaves and your sons as gang members - or kill them if you resist -
or
attempt to find a better life somewhere where they believe they can raise a family and work and survive.
Which would you do?
Of course - racist cult idiot followers - who blindly follow the biggest liar criminal in the world can never understand such things - instead - it is easier to just follow along just like the Germans did and watch as these "animals" are rounded up and "neutralized" and disposed of like insects.
The administration - who has made this problem worse - throws up their hands and says "we don't have the resources" "this is crashing the system"
is allowed to use these bullshit excuses for their lack of competency.
Any administration has unseen circumstances and unexpected emergencies -
Only this one is given a pass when they create most of them and then fail on all of them and then blame anyone else.
Obama would have been lynched after Puerto Rico. After helsinki. After 20 sex assaults. After 11,000 lies. After going to N. Korea and accomplishing zero. After Rapes. After treason. After children in cages. After tax fraud. After ....

5 Revelations From Children in Border Patrol Facilities
1. Guards intentionally intimidate children
2. Agents still separate families
3. Poor sanitation is affecting children’s health
4. Hunger is rampant
5. Children are subject to humiliating invasions of privacy
children are forced into close quarters with little hope of privacy.
Testimonies provide many examples (https://youthlaw.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/Exhibits-1-13-Redacted.pdf#page=2) of children being held in crowded rooms where
they must regularly share blankets and sleeping mats with others.
According to one 11-year-old girl from Ecuador, as many as 10 children (https://youthlaw.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/Exhibits-1-13-Redacted.pdf#page=16) share a single mat.
These rooms, in which overhead lights shine 24 hours a day (http://www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddow-show/conditions-migrant-detention-facilities-spark-outcry), offer
no place to hide, use the bathroom, change clothes, or wash.
The same 11-year-old continues:
“The toilet is inside of the room where we sleep. There is no separate room, just two stalls with no doors.”
Conditions are no better for young parents;
one 16-year-old mother from Honduras reported (https://youthlaw.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/Exhibits-15-29-Redacted.pdf#page=8) spending four days in an outdoor cage with her baby, desperately looking for clothing, diapers, and baby wipes—and publicly changing her infant on the ground.
These conditions violate these young migrants’ human dignity and have even been compared to “torture (https://youthlaw.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/Exhibits-1-13-Redacted.pdf).”

Trump Wants To Withdraw Deportation Protections For Families Of Active Troops
scale back a program that protects undocumented family members of active-duty troops from being deported,
The protections will only be available under rare circumstances,
"It's going to create chaos in the military,"
"The troops can't concentrate on their military jobs when they're worried about their family members being deported."
The program the Trump administration wants to curtail does not protect all immigrants facing removal proceedings from being deported.
It specifically
allows military family members who have come to the country illegally — and can't adjust their immigration status — to stay in the U.S. temporarily.
A spouse who overstayed a visa, for example, would not be protected under the program.
The original objective of the policy was to minimize disruption to the life of a soldier, sailor, airman or Marine whose family member might have been subject to deportation.

You are a fucking idiot if you really believe this. The decline of coffee production in the Northern Triangle is a real thing. Climate change changes agriculture and ways of life.
I wouldn't single it out as a sole cause -- I'd also include endemic corruption and political instability that came with a big assist from the USA over the last 120 years or so -- but on its face, the hypothesis that a changing climate can cause migration isn't outlandish.
