Lydia still demands Walt's product. She went behind Walt's back to get it.
That and taking Lydia out ensures that his family is safe from harm for good.

The one thing i didn't like was walt getting hit by a stray bullet. Reason one, aka "the CubanSucks reason" is obviously no bullet ever got low enough to hit someone lying on the floor. Outside there were no bullet holes that strayed from the path.
Also, i realize the bullet itself is showing that, like all of Walt's plans, regardless of the brilliance in them, they would kill him, but i think Walt still should have been shot by somebody else.

I'm 100% satisfied. And that song! Too fucking perfect. The lyrics of course but also just the mood. Exit music can turn a 8/10 ending into a perfect 10 for me. The ones that always come to mind for me are Fight Club and Goodfellas. This did the same damn thing
This is bullshit hearing them scoff the Sopranos ending on Talking Bad. It was obvious that Tony got his brains splattered all over that bowl of onion rings.
Loved how he dealt w/ the richers.
Loved the scene where he just appears behind the column at Skylar's. Excellent cinematography.
Loved the sentry gun.
Amazing end. Just spectacular.
(But let's not spoil it w/ knocking possibly one of the greatest abrupt endings to a series ever, Talking Bad.)
Vince Gilligan defended it saying it was perfect for The Sopranos but that that kind of ending wouldn't have worked on this show.
I guess we just have different definitions of destroyed. To me, they lived, but their lives are destroyed forever.
Destroyed? How? Shittier than they were a couple years ago but destroyed's a strong word.
Lame. Anti-climactic. And more implausible than disbelief allows even to this point.
Machine gun turret mowing down the bad guys, co main character gets closure with nemesis and drives off happy, main character drops dead in his sanctuary from somewhat self inflicted wounds. So what the fuck are you talking about? In the end the only thing that could kill him was his own creation

This finale was a million times better than the shitty Dexter turd finale. I loved the showdown Walt had with Meth Damon, Jack, and the other white supremacists. That device he rigged up in the trunk of his car with the car battery and gun was epic. I basically called on it on the end of the Meth Damon. Well, I was a little off. I had been telling my brother that I thought Jesse would choke the light out of Meth Damon with that wire that he was connected to when he cooked meth. I know Lydia was a bitch but I didn't want her to go bite the dust like the way she was going to. I mean that hoe looked pretty good in heels and a dress skirt outfit but I guess it was her fault being a dumb bitch and not keeping an eye on her coffee. Anyways, great finale.

I like to think Jesse drove straight to Alaska. The actor who played Ehrmantraut said he thought Jesse was going to pick Brock up last night on Talking Bad, but that sounds pretty far-fetched since Brock is likely with his grandmother and no way she lets Jesse anywhere near him after losing Tomas and Andrea.

Seems like online there was alot of mild disappointment in the finale. I kinda feel the same way too. I loved the finale, i was satisfied with the ending, it was genius, but ultimately i felt like it needed just a little something more. I think the big thing is just the adrenaline rush of "HOLY FUCK WHAT JUST HAPPENED??!?! I CAN'T FUCKING WAIT TILL NEXT WEEK!" was missing because there is no next week anymore. I think the finale did play it a little too safe, and the ending was conventional (Walt wins, Jesse lives, the family gets the money). But i also can't imagine it any other way.
I think it's just the "HOLY SHIT" adrenaline rush that we got from other seasons that was missing, and i think ultimately the lack of that type of moment is because we've known for a while now that (a) Walt unloads an M60 on somebody, and (b) Walt poisons someone with the ricin. I think the flash forwards, while incredibly entertaining and leading to lots of fun discussion and speculation, did the finale a disservice. I think if we never saw the gun, and only knew that there was something dangerous in the trunk that Walt was trying to open, then the Nazi's getting wasted would have been a much bigger "HOLY SHIT" moment. I think if we only knew Walt went to the house for "something" not knowing it was the ricin until after he revealed it to Lydia, it would have been another "HOLY SHIT" moment.
But even then, the flash forwards were so awesome that i wouldn't change a thing, even if the end wasn't quite as bombastic because of it. It's about the journey, not the finish line.
Phillip
10-01-2013, 10:44 AM
I think there would have been more surprise factor if they simply didn't include the scene of him in the desert putting the gun together, or maybe just a more vague scene of him using some tools to put something together, but not revealing that it was the M60. It would have been awesome seeing him go into the compound, not knowing what exactly was going on, or why he was so focused on getting his keys. For almost 2 years, people have been wondering what the M60 was for. It wouldn't have hurt to made everyone wait another 10 minutes. I think it would have made it far better.
Also, it would have made him tackling Jesse seem a bit more confusing in the moment, as opposed to being blatantly obvious to the audience that he was saving Jesse's life before he even started the sentry gun.

This. Couldn't believe it when I saw a shitty Simpsons episode got 9 million viewers this season.
Yes, but you have to take this into perspective. The fact that a CABLE channel called AMERICAN MOVIE CLASSICS was able to pull in 10+ million for ANYTHING short of a live televised, exclusive play by play of the second coming is truly historic. Cable channels (non premium) rarely jump into this territory. AMC struck GOLD with BB and TWD. This is BIG in TV land.

I don't think anything should have been different. I loved that it was an actual ending (although that left me depressed), and that it was as happy of an ending that you could get.
Nowadays, everyone is trying so hard to be unique and different, the fact that Gilligan decided to "old school" end the show without really any loose ends I thought was surprisingly refreshing.

Yeah, I could understand hating it if you missed the flash forward at Denny's and at the house, but otherwise, it was a quality ending. I was rooting for more a Scarface ending where everything collapses, but I thought the one we got was very well executed and it was cool to see something finally go right for Jesse. Jesse's expression when he can finally escape the Nazi slavery and the slavery to Walt too is one of the real high points of the series.

I loved it. My one complaint is how Walter got shot. I have to watch that scene again, because It didn't make sense how he was shot in the gut while lying on the ground. Overall though it played out pretty much like I thought/hoped it would. Walter killed the Nazis and Jesse got away. The only thing that took me by surprise was how the Grey Matter duo was used. I'm glad they found a way to use Badger and Skinny Pete.

I loved it. My one complaint is how Walter got shot. I have to watch that scene again, because It didn't make sense how he was shot in the gut while lying on the ground.
When I watched a second time I did notice several shots of bullets ricocheting, and there's a point where you hear Walt get hit by something that I assume was the bullet.

I do agree the finale was a bit weird. The car keys falling down, all the ice falling off the window with a single hit, walt floating around everywhere able to do anything he wanted.
But I think most of that can be explained by the writers wanting to leave the fans with a badass satisfying ending. I get the theory though.

Skyler might have killed herself: Last fall, in his "pitch-out" call to executives at Sony and AMC in which he outlined the episodes ahead, Gilligan proposed a version of events in which Skyler commits suicide. In this proposed outcome, Skyler chooses to disappear along with Walt. The couple holes up in a cheap motel, where Skyler slits her wrists in the bathtub. "The other writers were like, that's a bridge too far," Gilligan recalled. "And they were right." Walt Jr. also helped prevent this idea from coming to fruition: The writers simply couldn't figure out how he'd cooperate in the disappearing act.
I came just reading that one.

That's what I do currently with HBO shows and TV because of course we have no choice but to wait.
But when you have a whole streaming service that you're paying for exclusively, you expect to have access to all it has to offer. Netflix and Amazon showed the way and it's hard to go back to week to week. Well at least for me.

Now that Mike is fully working for Gus and Jimmy has taken on the Saul Goodman persona, I see no reason why this needs to be dragged out more than another season. We do need some sort of resolution to the post-BCS scenes though.

Watched a few episodes of Season Three one night. I didn't want to stop, so I decided to rewatch the series. Part I'm most looking forward to the most is Hank getting offed. That was intense shit. Not letting myself watch it ahead of time...

One episode they said there was ten cases just as big when they cut funding. And Walt was retired; it was over and Hank was head of DEA without any real pressure regarding that at that point.
It was all about his silly pride and nothing more.

It was okay. It really didn't tell too much other than Jesse's future. I enjoyed just the breaking bad story and visuals so it was an easy watch but nothing great.
7/10
It was a great little movie. It's the finality the main show was missing. Its just completes it now.
I hope they dont make any more movies. Vince said there could be more but not made by him.

It was decent. Fat Todd and Bald Cap Walt (with Bryan Cranston clearly in “i’m just here to cash dat check” mode) kinda killed the immersion tho.

Eh... it felt really unnecessary. I was on-board with a Jesse Pinkman movie, but this was extremely heavy on flashbacks just to have a reason to invite a lot of these BB actors back for the party. And by the end, nothing happens. Jesse gets away. Him driving off at the end of the series was enough to give you that message.

I always wondered what the hell Pinkman was going to do to get away, so it's nice seeing the story told. Still, it feels like a loose end for Pinkman since how is no one going to recognize him in Alaska when his face is likely all over the national news?

Guy is fatter than usual. I wonder if this is for another movie or something like he was in Fargo when he was filming for Black Mass.

He did gain a lot of weight for Fargo season 2. Either he didn't ever lose the weight, they filmed his scenes weeks after Fargo wrapped or he gained weight again for another movie. Either way, it's distractingly but I'm glad his character was in it, he's one of the more interesting characters in the show.

tbh... it dragged quite a bit, felt more like a series of flashbacks then an actual story, and imo was just unnecessary. it still basically ends where breaking bad ended.

solid movie. Fun for BB homers like me. Was cool seeing old characters like Pete and Badger. When Pete said you're my hero prob best moment in the movie.
Old vacuum guy being a stickler for 1800 more dollars was dumb.
Aaron Paul did great, he's perfect for that role.
Overall the movie reminds me of a fan fiction epilogue for an ending that left some dissatisfied or with questions unanswered. Like Vince Gilligan did a fan fiction of his own work lol

It seemed kind of consistent with his character but overall it was pretty obtuse McGuffin manufacturing. RIP Robert Forster though. I'll always respect Tarantino for casting him as a lead in Jackie Brown.
I'm cool with this as a coda for BB; you can tell Gilligan and Paul love the character but there's nothing left to say about him. I do want to know if anything else is going to happen with Gene. His scenes are almost more compelling than Jimmy's.

I have to believe that those scenes are leading somewhere. On that note... they are taking fucking forever with this latest season of BCS.

it was especially odd given that that he refused to collect the original 125 on its own, but was making the guy pay 250k instead of 248,200.

I found myself in show paralysis last night and spent about 15 minutes scrolling through Hulu, Prime, Netflix and couldn't decide on anything.
Decided to re-watch BB. So good. I'm looking forward to being able to binge it instead of waiting a year in between seasons.
Then cap it off with El Camino.

I was in the same boat and watched a couple season 3 episodes while deciding. But it was too good and I had to re-watch the whole thing again.
I think they could've made it a good running series once Walt got into "the empire business"; but clearly certain people wanted to wrap it up. Possibly Giligan as an artist wanted it to not be drawn out; and possibly Cranston wanted to move on. Aaron Paul was still young and would've stayed on that gravy train, tbh.

Spoiler Alert.
In El Camino, I thought the part where Jesse wouldn't take out Todd when he had the gun was just some shit for a story line. I really didn't think that was true to the character whatsoever.

So I finally watched this (quarantine making me catch up with all must see screen fiction). The show it's obviously great but pretty much everyone agrees on this, so, what's the fun of bringing that up?
Instead, what I want to point out, is that I'm not sure all that on screen crying by baby Holly White doesn't fall under the category of child abuse, tbh. There's one scene in particular where she looked straight up scarred for life terrified, tbh.
