They thought about the magnitude of having a 6.5 game lead and choked.
That was about the shittiest performance of the season for an inning. Molina is starting to show a pattern of not working well with the pitchers.
13 blown saves about to be 14! :clap

I'm also reading that the Rangers have stepped it up to get Lee. Apparently the Mariners want to get a trade done TODAY.

Now I've gotta find out what we gave up. Too bad Lee will probably end up in pinstripes anyway. It will just be after the season as a free agent. :(

Josh Luc (sp) from Frisco is one of the prospects, Mariners giving 2 1/2 million cash. Reportedly

Also hearing Matt Lawson, possible Borbon since he isn't in the lineup tonight just like Smoak, but I hope not.
Whisky Dog

I like giving up these prospects, I'm hoping that last one isn't Borbon and if we're really lucky it's not Scheppers or Perez either.

I can't see Daniels making this move unless Lee is agreeable to re-signing here. Hopefully the ownership clusterfuck is finished by then.
Talked to the pops, and they're getting Lee.
He's getting it online as we speak

Smoak beaven and an infielder.
Will only like this deal if lee is extended.

ARLINGTON -- The Rangers have acquired pitcher Cliff Lee from the Mariners on Friday for first baseman Justin Smoak, pitcher Blake Beavan, Double-A Frisco reliever Josh Lueke and second baseman/outfielder Matt Lawson.
• Deadline MLBlog
• Full coverage
The Rangers have scheduled a 5 p.m. CT news conference at the Ballpark in Arlington.
Lee could start for the Rangers as early as Saturday against the Orioles. He was scheduled to pitch on Friday against the Yankees at Safeco Field.
The Yankees and the Mariners were close to a deal this morning that would have sent Lee to New York for Minor League catcher Jesus Montero, infielder David Adams and a third prospect, but the trade fell through. That allowed the Rangers to move aggressively with Lee.
Lee is 8-3 with a 2.34 ERA in 13 starts for the Mariners. Chris Davis is expected to be called up from Triple-A Oklahoma City to replace Smoak.
Smoak was the Rangers' No. 1 Draft pick in 2008. He is currently hitting .209 with eight home runs and 34 RBIs in 70 games for Texas.
Beavan is 10-5 with a 2.78 ERA in 110 innings for the Frisco RoughRiders this season. He's given up 37 runs (34 of which were earned) on 100 hits with 12 walks and 68 strikeouts.
He was the Rangers' 2007 first-round Draft pick with the 17th overall selection

Smoak beaven and an infielder.
Will only like this deal if lee is extended.
If he comes here and performs as expected I'm sure extending him will be Rangers new owner with money priority 1.
This gives the Rangers just about as good of a 1-4 punch as anyone with Lee, CJ, Hunter, and Cobra. I wonder who the number 5 will be? Will they stick with the underperforming Feldman or go Dutch Oven or Harden when they're back?
Texas Chili Dog
07-09-2010, 05:21 PM
So wait, Holland is still with the Rangers?
Texas Chili Dog
07-09-2010, 05:27 PM
Ok, I have GOT to go to tomorrow's game. Not only because that will probably be Lee's first start. But it's also Michael Young's ceremony for being the hits leader. Talk about a hot ticket.

I hope its the Dutch Oven, he really needs to get his head out of his ass.
Feldman just doesn't have the stuff to be a quality starter imo. Last year was a fluke and i think he would be better served as a long relief kind of guy.
Harden can go die

Start collecting your nickels and dimes, Wash just said that since Lee's scheduled start was today he'll be throwing tomorrow as the starter with that "T" on his hat.

I'm thinking Dutch Oven too and if he can get it together this could be a very successful 2nd half. What's the status on Harrison? He looked good in spurts but I don't know how close he is to returning

That is a bullshit error on Young. No doubt that the error should go to Arias all the way. At some point the first baseman has to be the one responsible with balls in the dirt. That was a routine scoop that should have been made. Any regular first baseman would have made that play.

Once again we get a 4-0 lead, let the O's scrape their way back, and fail to score insurance runs. This is looking a lot like last night. We better not blow this.
Also, good to see Davis get a nice applause. He may have gotten out, but it was a productive out.

Yeah that was sad. And what is still amazing is how low Lee's pitch count was. Complete game and he gave up 6 runs. You'd think his pitch count would be through the roof. Can't believe some fans started to boo him. For fuck's sake he just went cross country to get here today.
This loss broke my 8 game win streak. But I shouldn't count it because it was the first game that wasn't a part of my original season plan.

I have confidence in Lee. He looked real sharp, threw strikes, worked quickly, looked unphased. I'd give him a C+/B- on his performance but he's been pitching at a high level for awhile so i know he'll be fine.
I think our problem right now is that we are overconfident. With the Angels struggling, us acquiring Lee, and the fact that Baltimore's record is so bad=prone to letdowns. I think they are looking far down the road to the playoffs instead of focusing on winning the division first. C'mon fellas, we better wake up quick cause we go to Boston and Detroit after the ASB

One positive was Chris Davis. He looks like he is world's better than before and he might actually be an upgrade over Smoak at this point.
Being up 4.5 games in the division is great, and at this point i dont think anyone in our division is good enough to overtake us this season. Our division is probly the worst in baseball. I think we're golden

Giving up that package for a half season rental would be Jon Daniels' worst move ever. Keeping Lee has to be a must, which means ownership has to get shit straightened out.

We are holding Feldman out of the Boston series, thank God. So if you look at the pitching matchups for this series, we have the advantage for every game except the last. And that is CJ Wilson vs Jon Lester. CJ has been no slouch for us. I like our chances to do something in this series. And by "do something" I mean take three of four.

Yeah, it wasn't for very long but he was on there for sure. Unbelievable. Just crazy.
One of my favorite quotes was from David Ortiz:"Nothing is predictable in the game. Things just happen. I'd put my head in a tree trimmer betting that he won't hit a triple. That's crazy, man."
is it just me or does it seem like we've run into some great defense at 3rd base these last 2 series?

Feldman wastes no time giving runs right back. We have four solid starters in our rotation, and then Feldman. God I hope maybe Holland can take his spot when he's healthy. Just as long as Harden doesn't get anywhere near it. Move Feldman and Harden (if he actually gets re-called) to the bullpen and put Holland at #5.

LMAO...what a joke. And just like that it is 5-5 on back-to-back HRs. Fuck you Feldman.
And the quest for a 5th starter continues.
Feldman is just not the same pitcher as last year. Tigers are making him look silly. He throws either a hanging breaking ball right over the middle or something way out of the strike zone. It feels like we're down 4 or something but its still tied 5-5
