tbh this team needs to make sure they have a future 2nd baseman ready to roll by next season. Kinsler is too injury prone to ever be counted on. Get a youngster in there and trade his ass this offseason.

Rangers could of had Cano and had the current and future 2B that plays everyday. However in the Arod deal with the Yanks, Rangers had a choice between prospects named Cano and Arias, and we all no had that has turned out

The reckless baserunning has got to stop. Why the FUCK is Borbon stealing 2nd with runners on the corners and two outs with Andrus at the plate? Andrus is hitting over .400 with runners in scoring position and two outs. Let him drive the runner in! That shit is driving me crazy. :bang

Team needs God like pitching perofmance to hopefully scratch out a win once again against the shitty O's. Rangers making all the o's young pitchers look like Cy Young. Hopefully we can beat the shit out of Millwood coming up

they keep trotting him out there only to see him fail everytime. i dont know how the hell the Halos didnt lite him up in that start

BUMP
08-23-2010, 12:39 AM
You could argue that Harden is our best 5th starter at this point. As much as I love Holland, he seemed erratic at times in the TB game. I would rather go with him, but I think JD is reluctant to give up on this decision. If he can get going his experience may provide him to be a long relief guy in the playoffs.

We already know how bad Feldman's been this season, and I can't think of anybody else other than that guy Beltre who briefly showed up for 2 starts but clearly wasn't ready for the big leagues

sribb43
08-23-2010, 07:51 PM
harden will get rocked tonight. All of his pitches are up in the zone, it's only a matter time before he gets lite

Washington took out Harden because he WANTS the team to get a no-no. I still give Harden about a 1% chance of getting it had he stayed in. I do think he should have been allowed to finish the inning however. But not more than that.

BUMP
08-23-2010, 09:10 PM
I understand Wash's decision but I would've done differently. Harden will likely only see spot up innings in the playoffs anyway

Texas Chili Dog
08-23-2010, 09:11 PM
Just recently the same thing happened. A pitcher had a no-no through 7 innings, but was taken out of the game. The relief pitcher came in and gave up a hit to the first batter he faced.

I was at tonight's game and it was nice. The 9th inning was intense especially after that 1st out. I honestly thought that Joe Mauer was going to hit into a double play to end the game. I was that confident and sure that the Rangers were going to pull it off. And then, fuckin' Joe Mauer gets a hit and the no hitter is gone. It sucks that the no hitter didn't happen but a win is a win and it was against a good team like the Twins. It's a shame that the crowd wasn't that big tonight. It was a little over 22,000 I think. The Rangers and Twins are fighting each other to get home field advantage in the first round.

I'm glad the no-no ended against one of the best hitters in the Majors, and definitely the best hitter of the last four years in the AL (three batting titles). I can live with that. It would have sucked if it ended against some bad hitter who just got lucky. Props to Mauer, the dude's a beast.

I'm starting to buy into the cowherd "source" who said Lee hates it in Texas. He's been wildly inconsistent lately, and his horrible streak started as soon as Arias fucked up his start at Tampa and Lee was pissed. He just doesn't look like a guy who likes pitching in Arlington at all.

Yeah I think I remember hearing or seeing that Sept 3rd was the set date, but I could be wrong.

Around baseball, the A's scored 3 runs in the first inning against the Yankees. But NY has responded with 3 of their own in the bottom half, and they are still batting with one out.

I won't believe Francour will do shut until he actually does it. As good as the Rangers have been at picking up free agents in the offseason they've been horrible in trades. Guzman is a giant pussy who should have turned down the trade since he obviously doesn't want to be here, and Cantu (who had an RBI in 10 straight games to start the season) can't hit for shit.

Cliff Lee is the big issue. The problem with him is thy he has zero margin for error. When he misses on a pitch he leaves it fat on the plate and it gets hammered. I don't know if he's fatigued from throwing so many innings and playoff innings over the last couple years, but it's apparent to me he really doesn't want to be a Ranger and that IMO is affecting his game too. I'd call up Holland or another pitcher to get the start in his spot next time and give him 10 days rest to regroup, we have the lead to do it.

EricB

Kinsler's time off benefits ankle
Francoeur gets start against right-hander
Club still lacking pinch-runner
MINNEAPOLIS -- The Rangers are going to be without outfielder Josh Hamilton and shortstop Elvis Andrus for at least a couple of games and possibly more.
Hamilton was back in center field Saturday, one day after being pulled from a game with some tightness in his lower back. But Hamilton couldn't get through Saturday's game either.

Neither could Andrus, who left the game with a tight right hamstring.

Hamilton had to leave this game with bruised ribs on his left side. Hamilton injured himself hitting the wall in the third inning while making a catch on Delmon Young's long fly ball. He left the game after four innings on defense.

X-rays were negative. But Hamilton described this as the same thing as what happened in April 2009, when he injured his ribcage running into a wall in Toronto. He ended up on the disabled list and missed 13 games.

"X-rays were negative ... nothing is broke," Hamilton said. "It's so very similar to what I had in Toronto. I pinned my elbow against the ribs. Right now, it's day-to-day. Right now, it's a bruised ribcage."

Hamilton didn't crash into the wall, but hit it awkwardly.

"I went back the wall, felt the track and thought I was closer to the wall than I was," Hamilton said. "I rolled my ankle and fell into the wall rather than running into it."

Hamilton will not play Sunday. Manager Ron Washington is also planning on not playing him at least the first game in Toronto. Hamilton is also dealing with a sore right knee and the biggest concern is keeping him healthy for the rest of the season, plus the playoffs.

"I'm going to hurt," Hamilton said. "That's the way it is. If you're playing all the time, you're going to hurt. There is a difference between hurting and playing, and being injured and playing. Over the last three years I've figured out how to deal with it."

Andrus has been dealing with a tight hamstring for the last couple of days and the Rangers pulled him from Saturday's game after three innings on defense. Washington said Andrus will not play on Sunday and, like Hamilton, probably won't play on Monday in Toronto.

"I'm probably going to give both those guys a couple of days," Washington said.

Kinsler's time off benefits ankle
MINNEAPOLIS -- Ian Kinsler was sidelined for over a month with a strained left groin muscle. Now that he is off the disabled list and playing again, he found that the time off proved to be a big help to his right ankle.

Kinsler sprained the ankle in Spring Training and missed the first month of the season. But the ankle was still affecting him even when he returned at the end of April. Now, after returning to the Rangers' lineup Friday night, Kinsler said he can tell a big difference after missing a month to deal with the groin injury.

"[Friday] was probably the best I've felt since Spring Training ... since I rolled the ankle in Spring Training," said Kinsler, who was 1-for-4 with a single Friday night. "The ankle is a lot stronger before I went on the disabled list.

"That did a lot for it. I didn't think it would do anything because it wasn't getting any better. But that time off really helped. [Friday] night, I made a couple of plants on the ankle that used to bother me, but now they don't. I feel great right now. It's a lot better than what it was."

Francoeur gets start against right-hander
MINNEAPOLIS -- Jeff Francoeur was in the Rangers' lineup on Saturday even though the right-hander Carl Pavano was starting for the Twins. Francoeur was supposed to start on Sunday against left-hander Brian Duensing and the original plan was to start him exclusively against left-handers.

But Duensing had to be used in relief Thursday in a 13-inning game and has been pushed back in Minnesota's rotation. Right-hander Nick Blackburn is starting Sunday instead.

Manager Ron Washington did not want Francoeur, who was acquired from the Mets earlier this week, sitting around for three days and not playing, especially since the Rangers expect to see some left-handed pitching in Toronto next week. Ricky Romero is pitching Monday and Marc Rzepczynski is scheduled for Thursday.

"I decided to get Francoeur some at-bats before we go to Toronto," Washington said. "Otherwise he would have been sitting for a week. This is a chance for him to see some pitches."

The Rangers went with an outfield of Nelson Cruz in left, Josh Hamilton in center and Francoeur in right. It may be the single best throwing outfield ever for the Rangers. Francoeur is a Gold Glove winner who has been either first or second in outfield assists over in the National League for each of the past six seasons.

"I've never seen a guy stop a running game like Frenchy," veteran infielder Alex Cora said. "You talk about run prevention, with those arms, we have it."

Club still lacking pinch-runner
MINNEAPOLIS -- The Rangers have reinforced their bench and bullpen with some September callups, but are still lacking a late-inning pinch-runner. That's one role that contenders usually address with September callups, but the Rangers have not done that.

"We're going to have to discuss that," manager Ron Washington admitted.

There are two possibilities at Triple-A in infielder Esteban German and outfielder Willy Taveras. But neither are on Texas' 40-man roster.

The Rangers used Alex Cora in the ninth inning Friday, but he was thrown out trying to go from first to third on Julio Borbon's single. Washington said he used Cora in that situation because he likes his experience.

"I felt like his experience would come into play," Washington said. "I like his aggressiveness, but you just have to make sure when you do something like that in that situation, you have to be 100 percent sure you can make it."

This makes it sound like he'll miss probably 3 to 4 weeks, which if he can be back relatively healthy by 3 he can get a few games in before the playoffs. Hopefully he'll make it through and still be able to continue his dominant season.

If it's the same thing as last year and he only missed 13 games than that is more like 2 weeks. Of course if the Rangers can cruise into the playoffs, then it might be safer to keep him out longer.

Oh well, it's the Rangers. We shouldn't have expected anything different. At least they're making the playoffs.

Let's just keep things typical and get our asses swept by the Yankees.

True, tbh.

Unless you're the Yankees, it takes baby steps. There's no reason to expect such a young inexperienced team like this to breeze to actually win the World Series.

Keep him out until the Playoffs if you have to, fuck it.

If the Rangers make the playoffs, I hope they win at least a game against the Yankees preferably at home. The Rangers only have 1 playoff win in their history and it was at Yankee Stadium so they've never won a home playoff game.
