Dude, calling someone dumb is basic currency here, and I enjoy tweaking those yawling twits who exhibit none of the class or intelligence of the organization they purport to follow. If someone is going to start calling Otto Porter a savior, I'm going to call them dumb. It's the Internet, they can take it.
Using epithets like faggot or retard, that's another level. Learn the difference. Seriously.
RD would never have the balls to say 99% of his shit in person. Dude would lose his job in a second. That's how you know this fat fuck is a pussy and can't back anything up.

I wasn't attacking you btw, you're free to be happy/angry at whatever; having said that, being happy that Orlando chose a "direction" is really "right now" thinking, tbh. They also "chose a direction" the last time they went for a rebuild, and it's gotten them nowhere still, and there's no signs that this current rebuild will take them anywhere either. There's a lot more to rebuilds than just getting picks, and having a good scouting department, good development programs, and all that stuff, can make or break a rebuild - and I don't particularly trust Orlando on those fronts. We'll see what happens, but I wouldn't be surprised to come back to this post in 5 years and have ORL still in the toilet, tbh
They’ve pretty much been rebuilding sine Dwight left town. Some Spurs fans would be happy with that, though.

timvp should have shitcanned people using words like faggot a long time ago. I told him this a long time ago, but he's pretty much a joke of a moderator and there's a reason this site is regarded as a cesspool. It's better than it used to be, slightly, but that shit should be an insta-ban.
Yeah, agree, it really brings down the discussion quality when you've got people shit-flinging and trolling left and right in the middle of threads (like my boy Dejounte right now, ironically enough lol). I kind of respect timvp holding onto that "principle" of unmoderation above all, but it definitely makes the place worse, and I've lost a lot of my original enthusiasm for exchanging perspectives with everyone over it. More than a handful of posters simply aren't worth replying to or addressing.
the “but muh internet freedom” crowd won’t like it, but yeah.
This is a basketball forum. I’ve lurked this shit since I was a child and I understand you all have these characters and personalities you want to play. It’s very cute and very endearing. But that shit doesn’t belong here.
Yeah, I tend to laugh at the fake tough guys like RD, but it does get old fast. I question your mental sanity if you've been here since childhood tbh :lol I'm very glad to have only found out about ST on adulthood. What a cesspool to be growing up through...

I disagree that it's necessarily 'right now' thinking.... it's right now if your buying...it's thinking of the future if you are selling.... now they will probably screw it up... I don't have any expectation for the results of the path they chose.... I just want us to choose a path...... and maybe we have and we'll see that in a little while..buy or sell....do something that shows we have a plan...but right now there's no evidence that we have....and we know the status quo isn't very good.
We are on a path: draft and develop.

I just think we're in desperate need for a new direction as a franchise that has won 5 NBA Championships with 1 happening just 7 years ago. The fact of the matter is that one player single-handedly (well, with his uncle's influence) detonated this franchise and they've been slowly trying to pick up the pieces since then. With DeRozan, it's not a well-constructed team but we had to make due with him under the circumstances caused by that person in question. He's done the best to his abilities but this franchise needs to be lead by a player that is a better fit. I don't believe in the 1 and done playoff appearances as your franchise aspiration for the youth you have on the team. I just don't think that strategy will do the team much good considering the player ceilings might not be enough to be a serious threat for the next several years. When you combine that likely reality with the fact that San Antonio isn't a playing destination for prospective free agents who are increasingly all about the glitter and big markets, we have to rely primarily on drafts and making deals with the future in mind. That we're not doing that right now is very frustrating.
I don't disagree that the Spurs need a hard reset. I disagree with looking hearty-eyed at teams like the Bulls and Magic blowing it up, yet again, after years and years of unsuccessful drafting/development and treading waters, as if that's a path the Spurs would be so much better in. And yeah, the Spurs would (and will) rebuild better than Orlando and Chicago - and a part of that is intrinsically related to why they aren't blowing it up right now. That's all I was saying, it's a very interesting argument for sure. I certainly would like to see the FO pull the trigger on some trade today, but it's not looking likely right now...

If the Spurs turned down two seconds for Gay, they’re not buying him out.
The other two have no market, so they probably are gone. Aldridge because contract is hard to slot in, Lyles because he should be out of the league.

If they keep him, it will lend credence to the rumor. If we don't, it will invalidate it.
A third possibility is something like the offer was two seconds and a multi-year deal and Spurs actually walked away from a salary obligation.

Letting all the vets (plus Lyles) walk would be pretty close to a hard reset imo. Derrick White (27) would be the oldest player on the team next season unless the Spurs use the huge cap space to sign an older player.

Good. We learned alot about our team this year. Flashes of playoff caliber but a first round exit is the ceiling. Obviously couldnt get anything for LMA, Gay or Mills that made sense longer term. I bet we work a sign and trade for DDR in the off season where both parties are satisfied. There are few teams who can actually pay DDR outright but many more attractive destinations may be interested. His value is higher if the receiving team eliminates the flight risk via offseason S&T. Another top ten pick coupled with cap space, young talent and a valuable S&T asset like DDR is promising.

Yeah, and it's the reason it's so weird to me that people say PATFO have "no direction", when they pretty clearly lined up all the vets' deals so they ended in the same year. They gave a shot to the DDR-LMA era Spurs, and we've seen how that works out. Now, whether they trade, buy out, or just let the vets walk, there's bound to be a turning of the page this off-season. We'll see where that goes, but it'll have been as good a transition towards a youth movement as we could've hoped for - the question will be whether that young core can develop into anything meaningful.

You can’t sign every single one of those picks and the likelihood of getting even nearly equivalent value in a trade for all of those picks is slim unless a huge unforeseen deal for a top 5 type player appears. Even then its a Hail Mary to get it done.

Also Khem Birch is there for the taking and we need a good backup C.
That’s odd about Danny green, he seemed like a good fit there lol
He’s the only tradeable guy they have left. But the salary doesn’t work for a deal for Lowry. Maybe it’s Aldridge after all (works with Green + Scott). Makes even more sense after adding a guard and moving out Bradley.
Also see Green to Warriors rumors, which makes some sense but also is questionable in terms of who they’d be sending out.

Some they can draft and develop. Then combine with future picks to trade.
Similar to celtics when they got all brooklyn picks. They got irving by picks + isiah. (Even though he left) Got a few promising young player and they're a consistent playoff team. So th y don't really have to sign them all. They can package a combination of the picks and players

They’re not drafting 17+17 guys in the next five years. They’re going to be packaging a lot of those picks together to move up, or to trade for a top flight guy.
The picks are from a lot of teams that figure to be drafting in the 20s, and because they have so many, may be more open to trading. For example, could move the Clippers and Phoenix picks in 2022, to move up a few spots this year if they want. Or package three firsts plus the Horford contract this or next offseason to bring in a top flight guy.
SGA is certainly a keeper, and they have other decent pieces on the roster to help build around.

It’s 2+ complete rosters, plus whoever you want to keep from your current roster.
We’ve drafted 6 guys in 5 years, and there’s a lot of work involved in developing just 6. Now, raise that to 17. I think a good problem to have would be maybe 8-10 first rounders.

You mean, 1 hour until the trolls come out of the woodworks full-force... I can already picture them, self-quoting stuff that was never argued against just to tell eeeverybody how right they were, and the usual shit flinging. Will be fun, tbh, more than the deadline at least

It’s 2+ complete rosters, plus whoever you want to keep from your current roster.
We’ve drafted 6 guys in 5 years, and there’s a lot of work involved in developing just 6. Now, raise that to 17. I think a good problem to have would be maybe 8-10 first rounders.
The likelihood of landing on a superstar is already hard enough as is. The more picks gives you more chances to find the next franchise player. Spurs are using the development approach because the guys they draft don't have star ceilings and they don't have the luxury of picking in the top ten because Pop refuses to outright tank.

At some point, they’ll actually be under pressure to not use those picks in a draft. If they called me this summer, wanting to move up, I’d take a stand at 3 firsts. If they called me next summer, the stand would be at 4 firsts.

Lowry probably has more value than Demar due to his ability to shoot the threeball.
It's funny that Demar is unhappy with the potential contract offers he's received(hence opting in last summer). But he could have made himself much more valuable if he spent less time imitating the dead rapist and more time working on his three point shot. His excellent free throw percentage indicates there's no reason he can't be a reliable three point shooter. He's putting a ceiling on his potential earnings and hurting every team he plays for by insisting on playing like a mid-90s guard.

They both are. Both are washed but at least Rondo can still pass and play-make a bit. Lou is almost a solely a fadeaway jump shooter at this point in his career who plays zero D. A lot of complaining around here for a team that could make the playoffs, plus will have $50mm of cap space (or can retain any of Mills/Gay/Demar, or get back an asset in a S&T for Demar).
Aldridge’s contract was always going to be difficult to trade without taking back money after this year. The Spurs want to keep the books clear.
Sweet! Can’t wait to use all of that awesome cap space on guys like Oubre, oladipo and Conley!

As expected, buyout incoming.

I guess I’m in the minority of people who prefer that we didn’t take on some other teams bad contract simply to move LA for a second round pick.
Would have been nice to see Gay moved. That was the most movable player beside Mills who was the least likely to be traded.
It would have taken a lot from another team to move DDR. Any team wanting him can work out a more agreeable sign and trade this off-season without having to worry about him walking on them.

Marqueese Chriss will join Lyles and other players this forum has hated since they entered the league, but now suddenly will have all the potential in the world the moment he hits double figures in a game.

Ain't Chriss Dejounte's homeboy? I guess he's better than Eubanks, but he may not be
"Chriss goes with cash to Spurs, which saves Warriors on luxury tax for an injured player."

So, looks like we're shipping out the rights to this random player I'd never heard of, in exchange for an out-for-the-season, then FA Chriss. What a move by the best FO in the business, pure savant shit fellas :eyebrows
