That's pretty much how I feel watching him. He looks really good when everything seems to be in his favor - he even makes things look easy. But if even one thing is not going in his favor (timing, pass protection, etc.), he goes from looking really good to looking pretty horrible. It's frustrating watching him. Then when he has that stupid Eli Manning/Dak Prescott deer in the headlights look.. Freakin annoying

Stream of blather:

Started with getting beat badly early on both lines of scrimmage.
Etienne ran untouched for like 5 yards in the 1st quarter and partially into the 2nd.
Ewers is very sketchy under pressure applied by real athletes, his basic mechanics go out the window. He has trouble feeling the pocket as well so bad combination there.
The more I think about QBs in college, the more I see how valuable escapability is. Our upcoming QB recruits can move (besides Owens)

Bad start against this level of athletes and coaching played out as it should have. They kicked our butts early on both sides. The D line got better, but the O line had to perform at a very high level later because of the score and they just could not do it when Georgia's DEs had nothing to worry about except rushing the passer.

The PI call. Never seen it overturned like that, but, they got it right. The Georgia kid was basically blocking way downfield, never turned around until way late.
I have no idea what the rules are on overturning a call, but it came way too late compared to others I have seen.

I think both Beck and Ewers took a big step back in draftability. Especially if you look at the number of interceptions that were catchable.

And agree with TFloss. This game was much more important for Georgia than UT with the expanded playoffs. But Now we sit it the boat with other high level teams with loses.
Good thing Vanderbilt is showing its capable for next week. I think we should probably drop a good number of spots after this loss. But can move back up some with a good showing this week.

I hope our injury report is favorable. Losing Mukuba would be a really big blow imo. That would be our two best safeties gone.

Wisner is tough as nails. He took some big shots. He has filled in admirably. Had some bad drops though. One with a wide open field ahead of him in this game.

yep the defense was actually pretty impressive considering the horrific situations the offense and punter consistently put them into. they are definitely elite

I can't imagine the offense ever again being that dysfunctional like they were in the first half. sark has to fix the blitz recognition and pickups. also Quinn has to step up in the pocket better, second half he got himself into trouble numerous times being a statue or scrambling outside needlessly. missed a lot of open receivers down the middle too bc he was so focused on his check downs and outside receivers.

the issues on offense were not a lack of ability or talent, but rather things that are fixable. I can't wait to see them again, it's possible these guys end up playing 3 times this year

I wanted to watch Vandy this weekend, but didn't get the chance to. They were tied 14-14 with 2-4 Ball State into the 4Q on Saturday, so that speaks to not knowing what you'll get.

I do agree this feels like a great time for a bounce back, but Texas' offense hasn't clicked in about a month; turnovers, wasted opportunities, out of sync, etc.

Ewers doesn't look healthy to me, but I think a big part of it is he's in his own head and has the yips whether it's fear of getting re-injured, slow processing/quick to check down, doesn't want to step up in the pocket, not confident throwing the deep ball and so forth.

My opinion is Georgia's D counted on getting that version of Ewers and were able to feast on it big time.

He had a strong finish to the '23 season after going down against Houston, so hopefully he figures it out.

I'd like to see Sark find a way to get him going earlier, and I thought it was weird that he kept the pace slow when it looked like Texas was about to make a comeback on Saturday.

Also, dare I think this, Ant Hill can be better. Instead of completely missing contact from a blocker to get a star hit, take a little shove from a blocker and make a tackle. Run through some blockers not well positioned to get a high % tackling angle instead of avoiding all contact to get a low % “blow the ball carrier up” tackle. (Goal line an obvious exception to the idea of “just get the guy on the ground”.) Secondary also had some whiffs.

Quinn must step up. Help your OTs out. Also, get rid of the ball. Not even Banks cannot block a really high level defensive end for 4 seconds.

I hope Sarkisian is willing to pull Ewers if needed again.
We have the talent to win out, but Arkansas has improved and ATM defense is clearly well coordinated taking advantage of that really good D line. Both are away and the Oline becomes very vulnerable to the dreaded “traveling” signal. They don’t use that signal in the NBA anymore so apparently college football has taken on fixing the lack of that signal that we love so dearly.

I read that Ewers audibles while DMoore was in motion on one TD, a great call and shows superior command of situations. That same Ewers has to be reminded to throw the ball away when a play breaks down. This consecutive passes completed is a cool stat but scattered amongst those are sacks on 2nd down and short leading to third down and long. Those plays are not mentioned. A throw away messes up a completion streak, please throw the ball away and ruin the streak of completed passes in order to avoid a sack that chops the playbook in half. 3rd and 3 versus 3rd and twelve makes a big difference.

I personally was really disappointed with the Oline, mostly the 2nd half. Our 2nd half running attack broke down. Cedric Baxter I miss you and your ability to push FORWARD after contact. Wisner misses you as well. D Moore and Trey Moore both had really good games imo. Safety McDonald is a lightning bolt, just needs seasoning time. Hopefully Mukuba gets back for Florida.

i really dont understand sarks usage of the rpo when you have a QB that isnt really a great run threat, nor that interested in keeping the ball after the numerous injuries hes battled
