I'm at 4-1 right now. So there is no need to push it with a banged up Niner team on the road, Yep, I'll probably regret it.
Off the Niners tonight.

Only took three years for the "betting expert" to put together one decent week of betting... plus he's officially turned Russell Wilson into Struggle Wilson and jinxed Seattle anyway :lol

Since week one....22-17 and if not for a couple bogus weather reports...24-17. I do play with real $$$$.

Have gone 22-17 since week one, and it does get easier.
Did I jinx Russell Wilson last season, how about those Mississippi schools? Did I jinx Nick Chubb who gained over 200 yards yesterday? Did I jinx FSU last night who I picked to win?
How about keeping it real ok shorty?
Did I jinx Terrance West who gained 100 yards in his first pro game?

A c*nt hair above .500 for the season is embarrassing for someone who claims to be a "betting expert" who can "hit 70%" :lol

Add my two bogus weather report games and it's 24-17 and it does get easier as you'll see. Anyone seriously into this is well aware of the fact the second half of any season is where those fighting for playoff spots lay it out as those out of it wish the season would end. I always do far better in the second half, as you'll see.
This is going to be fun.

Ok, I can't ignore this "spot"
There is no team in the league that has been as potent in October(last 10 years) as the Steelers, they are 63-28SU.
They are also one of the best teams in the league on MNF. As a HF...12-7....have won 15 MNF games in a row.
The Texans are one of the worst teams in the league in any of these nights games. They have gone 0-6 on MNF ATS.
So we have one of the best MNF home teams vs one of the worst Nationally televised teams.
I'll lay the 3.5.

If you can't see the difference in Mason's picks and mine, I can't help you. And when you play with real $$$$ the weather does come into play.
Dude, you work so hard at this, hahaha!!!!!! Why not read the reasons I made those plays, and it does get easier. Hell I'm proving that.
You are going to end who looking stupid-er guy, and it's going to be fun watching how you act.
Hell...
Week 8
The Bills at the Jets who have had how much time to prepare?
The Bears fighting among themselves vs the Pats, who had how much time to prepare?
The Browns at home comig off a loss vs the lowly Raiders?
Kansas City at home vs a weak Rams team?
Hmmmm?
Avante
10-19-2014, 11:12 PM
The Niners, hmmmm?
Let;s take any teams top three backers off the defense, now what? That's what we had tonight and injuries to the db's.
All season long the D without stud's Navarro Bowman and Aldon Smith, that is a real big deal.
The Niners are 4-3 and have a bye. When they return they beat the Rams at home, now 5-3
then...
at NO
at NYG
they will win one of those so...6-4
Now Smith is back (actually was a week ago).
The Skins and Seahawks at home should win both of those, so 8-4
at Oakland...9-4
at Seattle...9-5
Chargers
Card....will win one of those, so 10-6 and an 11-5 more realistic than a 9-7.
Yep, playoffs, with Bowman back.

23-20 (+ 300) if not for bogus weather reports......25-20, since week one.....25-17. And it does get easier as we see teams getting real serious about playoff positioning and those teams out of it.
Last night we saw a very strange situation, a team that hadn't lost in a partIcular "spot" in 23 years. 23 years, wow! And they were in with a team that totally sucks in these "only game going on" "spots". They had went 0-6ATS on MNF alone. Talk about an easy play, there it was. Even when it was 13 to 0 I had no doubts how it would end up.
Some of you play this...."what does something 10 (or more) years ago have to do with anything, different players:"...ok well how come the Lions/Browns have never played in a Superbowl? How come the Steelers/Cowboys/Niners have won 16 SB's and played in about 20? How come the Steelers have won 16 MNF games in a row and haven't lost one at home in 23 years despite all the different players? How come the Texans totally suck on Mon/Sun/Thurs night games regardless of who they have? How come the Pats are always in the SB mix, they haven't had a losing season in over a decade regardless of who plays for them.
Check out this "spot" for next Sunday.
The Bills at the Jets. The Bills with no C.J.Spliler vs a team coming off that Thurs night loss now at home, a place they have owned the Bills.
2013 Jets win 27-20
2012 Jets win 48-28
2011 Jets win 28-24
2010 Jets win 39-7
Now add the Bills are heading into a bye week, in that "spot"...1-4ATS.
Can anyone make a case for the Bills in this "spot"..?

So what teams were heavy loaded with home games the first seven weeks?
Cowboys...4
Broncos....4
Lions....4
Colts...4
Eagles...4
Chargers...4
Ravens....4
Bills...4
The Broncos have only had 2 road games.
The Eagles also only having 2 road games.
Add the Rams.....which tells us just how weak they are.
Which were heavy loaded with road games?
Falcons...4
Panthers...4
Bears...4 (a good thing for them)
Packers...4 (so what they have done....impressive)
Texans...4
Jags....4
Chiefs...4
Vikes...4
Pats..4(also impressive)
Saints...4
Giants....4
Steelers...4
Niners...4
Titans....4
Home/road is huge in the NFL.
The Broncos will be facing 8 games where they have only 2 home games...ouch! The Lions with 6 games with only 2 road games. Who comes up with this stuff? Why not home/road, home/road?

how is 4 out of 7 heavy loaded?
When you play half of your road games in the first seven weeks. Which tells you you have four left in the next ten weeks.

23-20 (+ 300) if not for bogus weather reports......25-20, since week one.....25-17. And it does get easier.
GENO SMITH.

GENO SMITH.
He looked pretty good vs Pats, yep, what a surprise. The thing is how can ya ignore a "spot" that has an overwelming amount of reasons to back a side?
This is it for the Jets and they know it, now add the Percy Harvin/no C.J.Spiller factor. The Jets in a "must win" situation at home vs a team they have dominated in this "spot'. The Bills haven't won at Jets since 2009 and it was 16-13.

Alright Avante (http://www.spurstalk.com/forums/member.php?u=33483) i'll pick the Jets. Anyone else?
Not right now you don't, you wait until we see the injury report and the weather. As of right now it's just a potential play. You just ignore bad weather games and now is the time to start looking for them.
The Chiefs at home vs a woeful road team the Rams. another potential play. The Rams as RD's the last two years...2-7ATS. The Chiefs play three of their next four games at home, they will see that situation as a great chance to gain on Den/SD. If they can beat the Chargers on the road, why wouldn't they be able to beat up the Rams at home? A rookie QB in the loudest stadium in the league.....not good.
You want to find "spots" like...
Indy since Luck showed up 12-2-1ATS vs the division vs Tennesse who are 2-8-1ATS vs the division since Luck showed up. Now add Indy 4-0ATS vs the Titans since Luck showed up, that's a strong...24-4-2 trend favoring the Colts in this "spot".

So he is out? I don't get into injuries until Friday.
From Tuesday to Friday it's finding the best dozen or so "spots" for the week, then Saturday while watching college ball I start elimanating games based on injuries/weather/gut feeling, until I get down to the best 4/6 "spots". I go with even numbers of games because I should always win more than I lose.

He may miss a month with a groin injury. Barring a miracle recovery, he should be out. It looks like Anthony Dixon(formerly a 49er) and Bryce Brown(formerly on the Eagles) will be the rb's. But the Bills should probably go to the air more against the Jets anyways.

Dixon is just a banger, but Brown has some zip but is no Jackson/Spiller obviously.
I don't like putting $$$ on Geno Smith, but he would have won $$$ for me vs Pats if I'd not pussied out over that storm that never showed up.....sheesh! I just can't ignore this "spot".

I also noticed Cincy - 3, hmmmm? I know the Bengals are a good HF but are struggling right now vs a Ravens team on a roll, hmmmmmmmm?
I can't ignore 4-1ATS and the Bengals in this "spot" however, yep....????

Broncos vs Chargers Thursday Night Football
The two teams are almost identical when it comes to points scored/given up....so forget that.
The Chargers at Denver in the Peyton Era...won 27-20/lost 23-30 both came in under the number. Actually 1 point from going 4-0ATS vs Broncos with Peyton.
On Thursday night football, Broncos 5-3ATS/Chargers 4-2. Nothing there.
Then there's this...Broncos 0-7 last 7 at home ATS vs Chargers.
The Chargers are one of the best RD's in the league having gone 9-3 in that "spot" the last two seasons. When coming off a loss as a fav...6-1ATS. A good team getting points.
The stats/trends point towards Chargers plus 7.5.

I wouldn't pick either team. The Chargers are likely to be missing two of their top 3 corners which is a very bad thing vs. Peyton. But we did not have those two last year and played peyton tough and the rest of our corners aren't any worse than what we had last year. The broncos passing game is better than last year i think, but the running game isn't. If the Chargers lines can hold up they will have a chance but they have played horribly the past two games.
The thursday road game also makes the CHargers a less attractive pick.

how i see it
most likely wins: @ MIA, vs OAK, vs STL
pretty likely: @ chiefs
toss up: vs DEN, @ Bal, @ 49ers (niners will have a bunch of key players back), vs patriots
unlikely: @ DEN
I'm predicting 11-5
Keep in mind the chargers should have mostly everyone back after our week 10 bye including Mathews, Brown, and our cornerbacks barring further injuries. Manti te'o and melvin ingram(two of best lb'ers) could possibly be ready after the bye.

I had 11-5 but thought they'd probably lose one they should have won, most do. Yep...11-5 very realistic.
When they get their running backs back they do need a role for Oliver to play, too good to sit on the bench.

Well we have already lost two games we should have won. I see 12-4 and even 13-3 as a possibilities too but behind 11-5 and 10-6.
I wouldn't be surprised if Oliver and Mathews share time and Brown just sits on the bench most of the time. Brown hasn't looked good for the most part. Although, i'm not sure how their pass-blocking skills compare and if brown would see time because of that at all.

I do doubt a 12-4, it wouldn't shock me but I doubt it.
Get Oliver out in space, yep....a little lesser Sproles (he does pack more of a punch, just lacks the speed). You use Matthews up, he's who they really need.
I gotta put Rivers right there with the very elite QB's this season, he's playing great.

yeah when avante first brought this up months ago i told him he was basically describing a corner blitz, but he refused to buy that
I'm not seeing the difference at this point other than that there's no misdirection involved with it at all. You're basically just announcing that you're either going to blitz or that you're dropping a running back into coverage. So either way the QB knows to look at/attack that side of the field first.
Nobody is talking about ......for the small guy...and I made that clear. Not talking about rushing a Trindon Holliday here...ok? Take a back up back, a guy with some heft or a big wide receiver and set them out wide. Good luck in a tackle being about to get out there and if he can have a backer right over him, so there's the hole.
The local JC in town used that idea. On third and long in came backs/receivers with more speed than backers/DE's. Worked like a charm and would work at any level.
I'd think you'd want as much speed as possible instead of a slightly bigger guy. Tyron Smith doesn't care about those extra 20-30 pounds. He's still laying the guy on his ass if he can touch him.
I refused to buy it or talked about simply replacing big linemen with speed players in obvious third and long? You do know at the HS level most guys play both ways....right? You do know that Pitt uses running back John Conner as a DE...right? You do know that a lot of HS backs become backers at the next level...right? UCLA uses Myles Jack as a backer and running back.
Make it to where you must leave backs in to block these speed rushers, it's real obvious they will be blowing by big linemen. That's the idea behind it. And if you spread a tackle out, there's that gap staring at a backer.
Rookies....sheesh!
Well if the goal of it is making sure the offense leaves in a RB, I guess it's successful? I mean most offenses don't go 5 wide even on 3rd and 15 anyways.
I'm still not getting how this is schematically different from a corner blitz. (with whoever you want picking up that open receiver, doesn't' really matter.)

We've all seen that speedy cat totally beat that big bulky lineman on extra point, field goal trys. That is what this is about. No some 300 pounder can't back peddle to deal with a 4.4 guy with a blitz start.
If you blitz a corner you have less defenders covering receivers. Why have a 4.8 guy rushing a QB when it's without a doubt a pass (like third and 14) when you can have a 4.4 guy?
While at Miami they had Devin Hester coming off the edge to block punts, yep, he blocked a couple, this is like that.

As of right now these are the games I;m...hmmmm?....about as far as potential ATS plays.
Houston coming off a bad loss vs an inferior opponent in Tennessee.
The Chiefs at home in that noisey stadium vs a rookie QB and a Rams team that suck on the road.
The Browns back at home coming off a loss vs a woeful Raiders team that can't win a game much less on the road.
Aaron Rodgers is cooking right now vs that pourous Saints defense.
The Dolphins are simply a far better team that the Jags.
The Ravens are red hot, the Bengals are cold.
The Jets in a "must win" situation with all that rest vs a team with third string backs.
Tom Brady vs a team fighting among themselves in the Bears.
The Cowboys at home on MNF vs a team with their third string QB.
That's without looking at stats/trends or injuries. Just games that got my attention. After the homework I'll narrow it down to the 4 or 6 best plays leaving no stone unturned.

...and teams don't have a runningback by the kicker to pick up the edge rushers on field goal attempts. I like my chances of stopping your 4.4 guy with my RB, especially since the RB knows exactly where you're coming from.
& I mean I guess you could still do this, but if you're playing a team with more than 1 deep threat you're pretty much giving up single coverage if you're playing with a single deep safety. I'd rather not do that on a 3rd and 15.

You're going to rush at least three guys on 3rd and 15, why not replace a big DE with a speedy athlete? It's just that simple. You want somebody coming off the edge with some quickness, I don't care how quick any DE is he can't match the kinds of quicks a back up DB/WR has.

I've read/heard both 5-7 and 5-8 for Brenden Oliver, I'm guessing 5-7. As we know he's out of Buffalo, we also know he needs to be out in space not in between the tackles.
So who were those little backs, guys similiar to Oliver?
The first was Claude 'Buddy" Young Illinois/Colts a legit 'world class" sprinter, once held the WR in the 60. He had six kick returns for td's. First great black speed/elusive black running back all 5-4 of him.
"Mini" Mack Herron Kansas State/Pats 5-5 170

Steve Broussard WSU/Falcons 5-7 201

As we know Oliver was out of Buffalo, not known as a football powerhouse. And why he wasn't drafted, that and his size.
The best 10 NFL backs out of those small schools. Other than HBCU schools.
10.Dick Bass UOP/Rams....their first 1000 yard rusher.
9. Eugene "Mercury" Morris West Texas State
8. Stump Mitchell The Citadel/Cards
7. Terry Metcalf Long Beach State/Cards
6. Wilbert Montgomery Abilene Christian/Eagles
5. Abner Haynes North Texas State/Chiefs....first AFL rushing leader
4. Calvin Hill Yale/Cowboys....their first 1000 yard rusher
3. Chris Warren Furman/Seahawks....was their all time leading rusher when he retired.
2. Christian "The Nigerian Nightmare" Okoye Azusa Pacific/Chiefs....retired as their all time leading rusher
1. Joe 'The Jet" Perry...Compton JC/Niners...first black to rush for a 1000 yards, first to have two consecutive 1000 yard seasons, first JC only back to have a 1000 yard season and still is. Retired as the NFL's all time leading rusher.
Then there was Carlton "Cookie" Gilchrist who went straight from HS to the CFL. Yep, no college. He was a 250 pound fullback when he signed with the Bills, he would become the old AFL's first 1000 yard rusher and was known as.....the Jim Brown of the AFL.

Lance Alworth was a sprinter/long jumper in track while at Arkansas and a running back, he became a wide receiver as a Charger. He was amazing and the smoothest/slickest receiver ever, as you will see.

When he first arrived in San Diego the Chargers had Tobin Rote at QB, an all pro, the great Paul Lowe at running back and the just as great Keith Lincoln*** at Fullback. There has still never been a better backfield ever (Alworth a flanker). All 4 were all stars.

This is what season number one looked like in 1960 with the teams first stud QB/RB/WR not saying they were there at the same time.
west
LA Chargers...Tobin Rote/Paul Lowe/Lance Alworth
Oakland Raiders...Daryl Lamonica/Clem Daneils/Art Powell
Dallas Texans (Chiefs)...Len Dawson/Abner Haynes/Otis Taylor (had the best TE in AFL history....Fred Arbansas)
Denver Broncos...Frank Tripuka/Billy Joe/Lionel Taylor
east
New York Titans/Jets...Joe Namath/Matt Snell/Don Maynard
Buffalo Bils...Jack Kemp/Cookie Gilchrist/Elbert "Golden Wheels" Dubenion
Houston Oilers...George Blanda/Charley Tolar/Charley Hennigan
Boston Patriots...Babe Parilli/Larry Garron/Gino Capelletti
The biggest differences between the AFL and the NFL was lack of defense in the AFL, which weird as it seems made for more exciting football, yep, more scoring. The second big difference was the huge % of black players per team, the AFL was loaded with them, the NFL made an effort to not let that happen. We also saw a lot more small college players in the AFL.

As of right now...
NYJ-3....Buff a bad road team vs the divsion and totally suck before their bye week.
Indy-3....shocked the line is this low
Philly + 2.5....the best team in the league SU coming off a bye...21-5
Miami-6....good team playing a bad team
Houston-2....5-1ATS last 6, now vs QB starting his first game.
Baltimore PK....the Ravens are hot, without A.J.Green the Bengals are struggling
Thinking about stepping out on the Packers and Cowboys.(will play 7's but try not too unless taking points)
Might add more or change my mind on some before Sunday.
In all my years of watching pro football I have never had to get up at what...6am...to see a game. Yep, weird! I see the Lions covering for the simple fact the Falcons totally suck on the road but wil lay off the game because ya just never know where these guys heads are at in this unique "spot'.
I mentioned the Chiefs as a possible play, don't like playing 7's. Now we are talking having to win by two scores. Don't like the "spot'.
As far as London having an NFL team, I do see that franchise having a hard time signing free agents. Not too many would want to move the family to another country, I know I wouldn't.

While we have seen...
Mac Speedie and Dante Levelli Browns way back when
Ray Berry, John Mackey and Lenny Moore...first great receiving back
Swann & Stallworth
Biletnikoff & Branch
Harrison & Wayne
Conrad & Randle
Charlie Joiner, John Jefferson, Kelllen Winslow....the guy who really changed the TE position, no not Tony Gonzalez.
and a few other receiving duos/gangs (Greatest Show on Turf)
....we have never seen what we are seing now with the Broncos. Four quality receivers all there at the same time, all having their own little thang. The matchup nigtmare TE, that quick slot man, the speed demon and the can do it all. If all these guys stay healthy (wel everyone actually) the Broncos won't be denied a SB ring.

Ronnie Hillman and the Denver Broncos running backs.
Their first stud back was a big 250 fullback out of Villanova named...Billy Joe...yep, Billy Joe. He was a load, a genuine thumper. He'd win the Rookie of the Year Award. The first "Great" back they had was Floyd Little out of Syracuse, cat was bow-legged, actually looked strange. He had good speed with power could do it all. He is in the HOF.....but don't really see that.
Otis Armstrong out of Purdue was a 1000 yard rusher and one of the best in the league, in a word...shifty.
Terrell Davis (LBSt/Georgia) was the best back the franchise ever had, he was the total package and if he'd played longer would be among the top rushers ever.
Can't ignore 1000 yard rushers...
Gaston Green UCLA
Olandis Gary Miami?

The Broncos have never had a real speedy back like Ronnie Hillman, a guy who can go the distance from anywhere on the field.
Ok who did I forget?

There are a ton of trends that favor NO in this spot, but I might as well end the first half of the season with a bang. I do have some $$$$$ to play with.
I'll take the Packers plus the 1.5. Worst I can do is break even at 25-25. With nine weeks/playoffs to go. I can't ignore Aaron Rodgers in a big night game vs that D.
But...the Saints are something like 11-0 at home in these prime time games. This is more of......knowing it gets easier in the second half thing. So plenty of time to hit that 60-65%.
So it's Aaron Rodgers vs a strong trend.

Here I sit, a former HS footballer, most my friends played HS football. Here we also sit waiting to see who the final 4 are in the college game while some are watching a son, some relative play HS football. We see none of this over there. The game isn't a huge part of the culture there, it's just something they see on tv. There is no history/tradition pertaining to the game, no football trophies on the mantle, no scrapbook.
Here we are talking football, some like myself can go back to the days of Beattie Feathers the games first 1000 yard rusher (averaged over 9 yards a carry) what Brit can do that? They simply don't really get the game and once the novelty wears off...........

I understand your point on the travel and family etc. but you'd be surprised how many die-hard NFL fans there are in this country and that number is rapidly growing. NFL gets more tv time here now than pretty much any sport other than soccer and rugby. Every single London game that's been played here has been sold out also, suggesting that a franchise would get a lot of support..

A few games a year is a whole other thing than 8** games. Now add what if the team sucks, which they will early on. Will the Brits support a loser? Right now there are no real emotional ties, nobody really caring too much about winning/losing. Once it becomes...their..team that will change. So what happens when the London Redcoats are going 2-14, 4-12, 4-12 after three years, will they still be supporting their.....loser?

This will be a first for me....
I'm seriously thinking about putting 1100 on the Steerlers Sunday night vs the Ravens. The line...pick um. By Sunday maybe Pitt-2.5.
I see the perfect "spot" here for a big Steelers win, they are one of those teams that do their best work in these nationally televised games and are great in November at 61-39 while the Ravens 51-51 (since 90).
Last season...
Pitt at home...19-16
Balt at home...22-20
Now this little scheduling gem......the Steelers in the third game of a three game home stand vs a Ravens teams on the road "again".
Help!
While here...
I don't follow baseball at all, but I heard (tv) about how the road team hasn't won a game seven in 30 years. So who here is going to ignore that trend?

Actually ya start with Larry Merchants classic....The National Football League Lottery....a fantastic book on gambling on NFL games. Then ya read Wayne Allyn Root, Marc Lawrence and what systems they use. The key is to be aware of "spots" that favor one side over another. Such things as...
heading into a bye
coming off a bye
Sept,Oct, Nov, Dec
Nationally televised night games
back to back road
back to back home
coming off a big win
comiing off a big loss
injuries
motivation
You need all the info you can get and understand how to use it. Then there's $$$$$ management, notice how I know the sure thing by doubling?
Don't be one of the kids guy, ok? Don't get stupid with....you're only around even with more than half the season left.....hahahaha!!!!!!! Dude, I went from - 330 to plus 500 in six weeks, now think.
The first half of a season is different than the second half, now teams start getting real serious about the playoffs as others want the season over. So we see things from a more realistic perspective, far easier from an ATS perspective also.

True but they do play important two game swings in the division.
The Steelers are a great "only game going on" team. Play great in night games, that can't be said about the Ravens. And the Steelers do play their very best this time of a season, the Ravens don't. There is nothing pointing towards a Ravens win here...nothing.
As we know the Saints suck on the road, that right there is enought to ignore a play, no way I take Newton over Brees, so....ya just enjoy the action.

I talked to Judy about this, something I do when planning to make a serious play. Since I usually only play one/two of these a season and haven't lost one in a long time she agrees.
Unless I hear about some important injury between now and Sunday, I'm going to lay 5500 to win 5000 (the limit with my man) on the Steelers.
Here's why....
The Steelers have already lost to the Ravens, the Ravens haven't won both games since...2011.
The Steelers are one of the best teams ever in these Nationally televised games, having never lost at home in 23 years on MNF, ok this is Sunday night....but we can see they rise to that nighty occasion.
The Steelers are a great November team having gone 61-39, only Dallas has won more. The Ravens a 51-51 team and nothing special in these night games.
Now add these goodies...
12-0 ATS with revenge in Nov
9-1 ATS after BB home wins....this is their third home game in a row, Ravens in another road game.
3-0 ATS in the last three vs Ravens
That's a 24-1 trend favoring the Steelers and all they have to do is win the game.
And.....the Ravens will be without their best DB.
Now to make it really exciting, if I lose this bet which will be my only play this week if I do the pull the trigger, I will retire from Spurtalk, yep.....gone! I will load up my bag of tricks and hop an old freight heading south....................

The Detroit Lions and Cleveland Browns have been around how long, why no SB appearances?
The Oakland Raiders have lost how many games in the eastern time zone?
When was the last time the Jags beat the Colts in Indy?

For 23 years no matter who they faced if it was Monday night at home the Steelers won. Think about that.

The Panthers are banged up on the 0 line.
The great Drew Brees vs the inconsistant Cam Newton.
The Saints have scored 30 points more and given up 20 points less.
These Thursday games seem to be about who has the best QB.
I'm going to have to just ignore the road woes the Saints deal with, this is a huge game for the division so do I want Rivera/Newton or Peyton/Brees, boy that's a tough one.
I'll lay the 3, the Saints are the play in this "spot". How about 330 to win 300?
If I win I'll strut around like a peacock with a hard on rambling on about...."spots"...if I lose I'll run and hide like a little bitch until Sunday morining.

I saw a trend that changed my mind about making a big play, the Steelers are 1-8 as HF on Sunday nights coming off an ATS win. Don't like to buck strong trends, but will play 110 to win a 100 but not going anywhere.

Notice how the best black QB's are lesser black?
You can just look at Geno Smith and tell he's stupid. The powers that be really didn't see that, I did.
Cam Newton is one of those who can't handle celebrity and it's obvious. If I'm his coachs..."cool the tv shit, ok? concentrate on the game, you're not Peyton Manning or Aaron Rodgers"
Braxton Miller might be back but he's never going to be a legit NFL QB.

I get my plays together early sunday morining but will talk about this one...
The Cowboys are not a good HF, the last 3 seasons...7-16, the Cards as a RD...13-6 in that same period of time. How can a 6-1 team get 4.5 points in any situation? Now add the fact Romo is not 100% and the Cards are one of the best blitz teams in the league, if not...the...best, and ....they are good against the run, so there's Romo in third and long. And....the Cowboys just lost their best defensive player.
No way I can pass on a 6-1 team getting 4.5, so I won't.
Oh yeah, the Cards the number one ATS team in the league so far in 2014.

All the stats/trends pointed to an easy Steeler win but one.....1-8 as a Sunday night HF. That's why I backed off the 5500 play. But I did play 550 and yep....easy money. But since I couldn't get to a computer, oh well.

Flowers was a wide receiver and would be among the fastest white cats to play in the NFL. The fastest wide player ever to play in an NFL game was John Roderick a 9.3 guy out of SMU. He was a Dolphin but did little.

Then there's this scenario....what if Jerry Rice had played at ND and Brown at MVS? While Rice was at MVS he and QB Willie Totten were the best QB/receiver duo in the country, obviously being at a small HBCU school they got no press.
Tim Brown was a fantastic player while in HS in Texas, that's when I first heard of him. He didn't have the straight line speed of Rice but was a better runner after the catch. And yes if he'd been a Niner with those QB's his numbers would even more impressive.

tough question. truth be told i have trouble evaluating elway and marino, let alone Ben.
I personally like Marino over Elway, and some people disagree because of their superbowl history...
Elway made 3 superbowls in the 80's but he was pretty terrible in all 3 of them, and in his 2 superbowl wins, Terrell Davis was their best player and by a considerable margin. i don't think Marino ever was able to sit back and rely on the run. his role was a lot like Peyton Manning on the Colts, but with inferior weapons to what Manning had.
Ben is tough, because at his best he's as good as anybody. But you can't count on him to be at that level consistently, so i'd put him behind Marino/Elway. his "lows" are considerably worse than their lows

Now that we have a pretty good read on everyone.
It's all about playing those teams in the playoff mix vs those who aren't.
I'll be playing..
Arizona over St.Louis
Philly over Carolina
Green Bay over Chicago
Baltimore over Tennesse
Pitt over NYJ
Denver over Oakland
Dallas over Jax
The teams on the left are a plus 258 (points for and against) the teams on the left a minus 436.
Don't care what the number is. It's simply good teams playing bad teams. Don't need any trends or "spots". Didn't even
look for any. Good teams thinking playoffs, bad teams can't match the intensity.

Well if we take all that into consideration it does get a bit funky. We can't ignore ...weapons. Some have Bradshaw in the top 10 simply because of SB wins, the guy played on a great great team (nine future HOFers, not unlike Bart Starr)

Bockwinkel was a second generation rassler, his dad Warren was a mid card talent in the LA area way back when.
Nick was one of the most articulate/intelligent rasslers ever, kinda of surprising he was even in the biz, it's real obvious he could have been a success at other things. Other than Verne Gagne he was the most successful of the AWA guys. A multi time AWA world champion.

I was born in 1949, started running track/playing football in grade school. Loved...speed...and I had it, for a white guy. I also had that wiggle and quicks. I was always into football and track.
I also grew up listening to Hank Williams and Muddy Waters, my dad was into that. My older sisters were into books. So I read their sci fi authors like H.G.Wells.
Saw Steve Reeves in "Hercules" at around 10/11 (go ahead find out when the movie was made) I wanted to look like that.
That's where I came from, why that is so hard to believe...???????????????
I need to know all I can/origins of things that interest me, so I find out all I can about them, why is that so hard to buy? Love the history of things.

Sure, absolutely. But you being a California guy and watching in the 80's know how good Elway was regardless if there was a run game.
Keep in mund I grew up watching Johnny Unitas, Fran Tarkenton, Joe Namath, Sonny Jurgenson, and no Elway wasn't on a higher level than they were.

It's funny to me that you and my Dad are the same age. Mostly because he's a dignified, intelligent, successful, and mature 65 year old male and you are the complete opposite.
Lol

What's really funny is my son Mason gave this internet silliness a shot (messing with Blake) then out grew it at 21. It's now...."you still doing that dad?" I bet your dad (who I would totally take to school on most everything) is proud of his retarded son who gets a nut being an internet prick.

I didn't even reply back to him and I'm still in his head.:lol
He knows deep down that despite all his internet chest puffing I'm in better shape than he's ever been in. All those claims of greatness and he can't even complete a simple bench press challenge.

To be fair, Elway had a great game in his 2nd Super Bowl victory. He was the MVP of that game.

Having the experience I do (around 55 years) I've picked up on a few things, one is don't get too carried away with a game or even a couple seasons. Things take some time.
Don't be surprised if Mark Sanchez plays like he did his first couple Jets season that he keeps the Eagles QB job. Yep, Foles had a great year in 2013 but he isn't looking the same in 2014.

Great point.
I do think Sanchez sees a golden opportunity here to get a starting NFL QB gig back. He would have to play great to supplant Foles. Like you mentioned can he get help?
