Forget the above mentioned Roger Staubach, his first three years were a joke.
Still looking for a QB who had a better first three years.
why is he doing in the HOF?
Okay, you mock the HOF, but discredit Warner becuase he is not in it, despite the FACT that he is not eligible until August.
Chalk that up to Avante being asinine.
I keep waiting for someone to show me any QB who had a better first three seasons than Russell Wlson.
Games started
Completion %
TD/INT ratio
Rushing
Wins
Passer rating
So who had a better first three seasons, well?
Joe Montana? Dan Marino? Peyton Manning? Aaron Rodgers? Johnny Unitas? Andrew Luck? Tom Brady? Brett Favre? Otto Graham? John Elway? Warren Moon in Canada?
Who?
Orignial question specifies who had a better first three years than Wilson. No other requirements.
Chalk that up to Avante being asinine.
Why did you totally ignore what I just said? Is Warner playing today.,...nope! Did he have the stats...nope! Is he in the HOF....nope! Are all those others one of those...YEP!
Dude, are you really as dumb as you appear?
Correct Warner is not playing today (1/1). He did have the stats in the first 3 years, which is what you are trying to compare (1/2). Warner is not in the HOF true, but that is becuase he is not eligible (1/3)
Batting .3333333. Not good.
Chalk that up to Avante being asinine.

Gave you one to compare, yet you won't do it as you keep changing criteria. Pretty lazy if you ask me.

Just rekindle those thoughts when you allegedly ran 10.2 back in the day that no one asked about, but you failed the need to mention. That is all you got old man.

Here you are again just that easy. And you will follow me around from here on out, hahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ha, ha
That is why I put a lame line out there a few days ago and you fell for it hook, line, and sinker.
I called your exact response to one of my posts. You are like one of Pavlov's Dogs to me. I do one thing and I know your next move.
Like taking candy from a baby, and in this case like an extremely old, bitter old man with no life.
I attempted to engage you in a conversation on RW & KW and you FAILED.

I;m looking for a QB who stepped off the NCAA playing fields to starting 16 games as a rookie in the NFL. A guy who went straight to the playoffs his first three seasons. Someone who did things never seen before by any other pro QB.
That's Russell Wilson, now who compares with him?
Avante

I'm not talking about what a guy did in his first 4 seasons....obviously. Hell, for all we know RW could win this SB and another one next season, giving him three SB wins in 4 seasons.
When it comes to the first... three... seasons no other QB compares to RW. The fact he stepped right in as a rookie has a lot to do with this.

i get you. i'm explaining where they're coming from and why there seems to be a misunderstanding
The thing about Wilson is how he didn't need to sit behind a vet and learn the system. He didn't need a season to get into things. For him to step right in tie the td record and come within 3 points of going to the Conference title game......pretty impressive. How anyone can misunderstand....first three seasons.....????????????
RW is not on a par with Brett Favre, Aaron Rodgers or Tom Brady, he's without question on a lesser level..BUT...his start to his career FAR superior to theirs and everyone else.
The winninest QB we have ever seen after three seasons. 10-0 vs SB winning QB's. Two SB's. Nobody compares to that.
Russell Wilson went straight from college ball to starting 16 games as a rookie, that was not Kurt Warner.
Warner went from packing groceries to playing NFL QB. One may argue that is even more impressive.
Warner played in 28 games his first three seasons, RW played in almost twice as many.
So did Cam Newtown, Andy Dalton, Tim Couch, etc... What the fuck is your point????
Just because you sit the first year doesn't mean your 2nd and 3rd years were not enough to vault you into a particular conversation.
The winninest QB we have ever seen after three seasons. 10-0 vs SB winning QB's. Two SB's. Nobody compares to that.
If the Seahawks don't get to the SB next year RW will have as many SB appearances as KW to start a career, and KW will still have a SB MVP trophy where as RW will likely not.
Avante
01-27-2015, 01:45 PM
Yep, I should have mentioned Kurt Warner, how I forgot about him.....DUH!!!!!!!!!! Forget the fact all those I did mention are either current players or Hall of Fame players and Warner would be neither. I should have made him the exception, he was bagging groceries, that right there should have made the difference.
Avante
01-27-2015, 01:58 PM
What makes Russell Wilson special is how he started from day one. He didn't sit and wait like...Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady, Joe Montana, Brett Favre. He stepped in and has started every game the Seahawks have played since they drafted him. How many other QB did that?
Then.....you add the success he's had, the things he's done nobody else ever has.
So ya take his success, all those firsts, and the fact he stepped right in and took over and how anyone who understands the game doesn't see just how special he is....???????????????????
If he does win Sunday that will add one more first to his resume. As of right now his first ...three....seasons are the greatest first...three...seasons we have ever seen by any pro football QB.
You are aware KW is not HOF eligible right?
You probably weren't. Well now you know and knowing is half the battle.

Marhawn Lynch is from Oakland. So what other stud running backs came from Cali high schools?
*** Hall of Fame
O.J.Simpson*** Heisman (saw him run track when he was at San Francisco City College. While at USC he ran a leg on a world record 4x1 team)
Sam "Bam" Cunningham.....Pats all time leading rusher
Marcus Allen*** Heisman
Ricky Williams....Heisman
Arian Foster
Terrell Davis
Reggie Bush....Heisman
Hugh "The King" McElhenny*** state hurdles champ
Dick Bass (my cousin Eva Dean married the other running back on that Vallejo team Bass starred on, I started out in Vallejo)
Lorenzo Neal (saw him wrestle while at Lemoore HS. Worked with his uncle Willie who ran track with Tommie Smith)
Ryan Matthews (played the wildcat while at West Bakersfield)
Rashan Salaam....Heisman
Maurice Jones Drew
Wendell Tyler
John Henry Johnson ***
Paul Lowe (first 1000 yd rusher for the Chargers)
Ollie Matson*** (Olympic 4x4 silver medalist)
DeAnthony Thomas
Charles White...Heisman....state hurdles champ
Mike Garrett....Heisman
Napolean Kaufman....state 100m champ
Justin Fargas...state 100m champ (yes, I know)
Frank Gifford ***
"Jaguar" Jon Arnet
Johnny Johnson
Darrin Nelson
Keith Lincoln.........this guy was the fullback when Paul Lowe was the tailback with the Chargers. He was...unique. He'd score....
running
receiving
passing
PAT
field goal
punt return
kickoff return
If not for Paul Lowe (vice versa) he's in the HOF. As good a backfield duo we'd seen.

So what junior college had two HOF running backs come from there?
Avante
01-27-2015, 10:27 PM
I listed all those backs who played at Cali HS's, but the one left off gained more HS yards than any of them......Dominique Dorsey, out of Tulare Union. He was on a whole other level of quicks, amazing elusiveness. You were constantly..."did I really see that?" He'd get lost in the line, then.......there he goes.
Dorsey was a litte guy, around 180 pounds or so. That's why he ended up at UNLV. He would get an NFL look as a kick return guy with the Redskins, nope! So he ended up in the CFL, in his very first game...

How much do we put into ....supporting cast....when it comes to judging QB's?
It is a factor.
If you put a great QB on a team with a bad O-Line, few play makers and a below average defense chances are the QB will not do as well as being on a team with an above avergae defense and above average skill players.
Similarily if you put a below average QB on a team with an above avergae defense and above average skill players chances are he should show some improved statistics.
While supporting casts are important they alone are not the sole factor for judging a QB.

The public is taking the Pats minus the 1
The sharpes/wise guys/pros are taking the point and Seattle.
In their last five SB's the Pats haven't scored a point in the first half. Add that to the Seahawks being a running team and the under looks strong.

Ok, I'm heading up to the hills now, a weekend of Poker (like football betting an expert) Gin & Tonic and the Superbowl. I'll be surrounded by some serious gamblers, mostly Niner/Raider fans. A great time will be had by all.
I don't like the line, nobody does. You are being asked to pick the winner not play a "spot". I can't buck Belichick/Brady in a big game. I want RW to win another one so I can...see see what did I tell you. So I'm stuck.
That gang in the hills are liking the under, and there are trends that back that play. I might go that way but I don't know yet.
So I'll wrap it up "here" at 66-49 plus $2100 (and some change)
Those who watched me come from 330 down watched a master at work, hitting on all but one big play. Going 66-46 after that shitty week one. Hopefully you learned how to look for "spots" where all the stars are in alignment for one side.
Anyone talking about..."that historically stuff doesn't work"....shouldn't be doing this, all I play are strong stats/trends/spots" based on just that. As we saw they most certainly work.
I won't be winning a couple grand for you guys next season, I don't like doing this for free. But it was funny watching....."damn, he's just what he said he was...shit!!!!'.....hahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
See ya Wednesday.
Some traveling music.

I like to look at things from an historical perspective.
Nobody in the history of pro football has combined....wins/playoff success/durabilty/comp %/passer rating/rushing....combined better than Russel Wilson at the same stage of a career. What an amazing QB this guy is and he's only 26 years old.
To even be in two SB's before 27, very very impressive. If he can get a couple receivers, the sky is the limit.
Anyone still think RGIII/Andrew Luck are better?

Rams....Nick Foles? Unsetttled

Eagles....Sanchez is not the answer
Redskins...RGIII is shell shocked
Raiders....up and comer
Chiefs...middle of the pack
Chargers...elite

Pats...Canton bound
Dolphins....jury still out
Bills...a black QB in the cold, nay!
Jets...Total???
Steelers...HOFer

A few years ago I mention....keep an eye on Russell Wilson, he's going to be special.....this was before he was even drafted. I had no way of knowing where he'd end up. I also said RGIII would suck. And while Andrew Luck was good, he was no Russell Wilson. Keep in mind I had no way of knowing where they were headed for sure.
So here we are three years later.
RGIII is a fucking joke
Andrew Luck is playing in pro bowls
Russell Wilson is coming with in a foot of being a two time SB champ

...on the internet.
Everything is just like I said it would be. I am a betting expert(as I proved) and RW is a great QB, as he's proved.

The thing about Wilson is how he didn't need to sit behind a vet and learn the system. He didn't need a season to get into things.
Mainly because the "system" is handing it off to Lynch 90% of the time with the occasional scramble or rollout play to change things up, and he got to play on a stacked team immediately. Doesn't exactly take a genius QB to get that down pat.

Did you see the SB replay on the NFL Network tonight? When I saw the game Sunday I was at a party, you know how that goes. After "really" watching it tonight, what in the fuck are you looking at?
How did you miss.......
Russell Wilson is something special
They can't lay a hand on him
He throws a great deep ball
Russell Wilson is really putting on a show
What are you blind and.......... deaf?
And.....Kearse drops a pass right in his hands. There is a tripping pass interference where the pass was right on the money, as was everything he threw except for his first pass.
Dude, what game were you watching anyway?
CN, I've always known you're not too bright but damn guy you're actually a fucking moron. You're soooooo wrapped up in.....that damn Avante, yes he's an expert gambler as we saw, yep, he nailed Russell Wison, oh wait a minute...WILSON THREW A PICK, YIPEEEEEEEEEEEE......where's Avante, I 'll show him......hahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!
Little man, been at this stuff since around 1959, ok? Yep, ya pick up a few things.....honest! You're just a dumb kid who has problems, and it's comical to watch how ya act. Now think stupid, what if RW wins another SB next season, just how dumb-er can you look?

The thing with white receivers is they just don't have that size with speed combo. We have never seen a Randy Moss, Otis Taylor, Terrell Owens, Calvin Johnson, Brandon Marshall type white receiver.
Alworth had speed but wasn't big, so it's guys like Largent with great routes/hands or guys like Welker, quick out of cuts. We never see that 6-4 speed burner.

From the SB thread....
To expect a third year QB to beat Belichick/Brady in ...THE BIG GAME...is simply not realistic. Look at the difference there in big game experience, it's overwelming in favor of NE. Now add a banged up Sherman/Thomas and all those stupid penalties.
I will be playing $$$$$$ the Pats in this "spot".

Kid wins Texas state in 10.32, which is a great time for a high school kid. All those Big12 teams want him, so he ends up at TCU (the best sprint school in Texas) there he has a great career, winning the NCAA twice, he leaves TCU will a 10.06 PR. Next stop the HSI and pro track.
While a 10.06 is a solid time, the pros are running 9.75. These guys are 27-30 not 22, and at 22 they were also around 10.06.
Let me guess, ya don't get it.
RW has done things never seen before for somebody with his lack of experience. His first three seasns have been the best we have ever seen..but...we can't compare him or any other third year QB to seasoned vets like Brady, Peyton, Rodgers, Brees. But what we can do is look at where RW is at the same stage of careers, if we do that RW is ahead of everyone.
When we see the dummies running the guy down that just shows how much they don't understand about the game. Yep, ignorant!

First off it took Eli four years not three and lets not get silly, it took a couple.."are you kidding me?" ..throws.
Go ahead take a few minutes and Google Eli vs RW career stats, check out those first three seasons. First off RW hasn't missed a game since he'd been there. He never sat behind some vet, he simply took off and won more games than anyone in history.

Everyone has forgotten about the Arizona Cardinals. If Palmer and their back don't go down they would have been the NFC team to beat, not the Seahawks. And I don't act stupid over .."a"...play. I look at how things really are. The Seahawks run Lynch RW is histories only two time winning QB in his first three seasons. And at his age, he will be back.

I'll crawl like a snail........
Russell Wilson is a..................THIRD..................year QB. Let that sink in, ok? You don't seem to get that at all, not that it's a surprise. Right now at this stage of the game he's not ready to beat Belichick/Brady in a big game. But he played a hell of a lot better than Andrew Luck did, he got crushed!
Going even slower.....
I did talk up RW before the draft. we argued about who would be the better rookie, RW/RGIII/Luck, you really don't remember? And.....being high on someone doesn't mean you expect them to win two SB's in just three seasons. Hell no I didn't see that coming, I thought it would take a lot longer to do what he'd doing. Yep, surprised.
Why you can't see just how special this guy is amazes me, even you can't be that bad at judging talent.

Never seen so many who know so little about the game as we have here.
I said that no third year QB was beating (how many times have they beaten Luck) the Pats, I did think I was going to be wrong, nay~~~~~~

My Niners totally blew it by letting Alex Smith go. He's right there in the middle of the pack but all we needed being a running team/play monster D. Kaepernick seems to be too caught up in being a celebrity as he regresses. But, the word is he's working with Kurt Warner on how to play NFL QB. Being just a great athlete won't work.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If the Rams could ever get a legit QB, they'd be dangerous.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Too bad the Seahawks came into that game with injuries to the Legion of Boom, and then to lose Lane, sucked!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Cards could be the team to push Seattle/Green Bay/Dalla , in the NFC. The Niners are back to the drawing board.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If I'm Tyreek Hill the Big12 sprint champ out of OSU who has been suspended I'm quitting school and entering the draft/free agent. He would come into the league as the fastest player on day one.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Peyton Manning needs to hang um up. If he doesn't he is going to end up embarrashing himself.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Imagine if Jordy Nelson and Julian Edelman played on the same team? We'd have to go way back to the day of Tom Fears and "Crazy Legs" Hirsh with the Rams when it comes to two "great" white receivers on the same team.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I mentioned that Kurt Warner wasn't going to make the HOF, his career was simply too inconsistant. But....he will eventually, the bagging groceries to Superbowl winner too good to pass.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tom Brady vs Joe Montana, well Montana never lost a SB. But.....to lose the way the Pats did, just ain't right.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Will we ever see another Barry Sanders.....nope!!!!!!
Marshawn Lynch weighs 215 pounds, LeGarrette Blount around 240. While neither has Hercshel Walker type speed they are fast. Then there's Bo Jackson, Marcus Dupree both ran a 9.5 in high school, both over 220 pounds. That is the huge difference between black and white athletes.....size with speed. Big and fast!
Look at Randy Moss he was around 6-4 and was an indoor sprint champ while at Marshall. Calvin Johnson is 6-5 or so and can fly, Terrel Owens was fast. These guys tall and fast. Look at Usian Bolt, he is the fastest human who ever walked the earth he's 6-5.
We just don't see those kinds of athletes without roots to western Africa. A big white back is a Mike Alstott type, a thumper. A stud white receiver is a quick shifty guy.
Then there's the agility/elusiveness. My theory on that is....rhythm.....most white cats simply don't have it while blacks have it in abundance.
When RW was given the starter job I'm pretty sure Carroll knew that he didn't have a strong receiving gang but did have a great back/solid D and a mobile QB. So why not do what the Niners were doing? Run the ball, play defense? A we have seen that formula has won the NFC the last three seasons. Yes, you don't have to...gotta pass, ya gotta pass!....no ya don't!
RW can pass the ball, he's just not in an offense that needs to play that. And as we have seen it's been more succesful than anyone elses system since RW came in the league having won the most games.
RW plays the QB position a little different than what we are used to seeing, but if success means anything..................
Answering a question is taking the bait?
That would be Eric Dickerson. He had the yards, the average and the scores unlike anyone else if we combine the total package. If he'd stayed with the Rams he'd been the all time leading rusher.
A 9.4 100 yards guy while in high school in Sealy Texas. There is no doubt at all if not for football he's a national class sprinter while at SMU. Olympic champ Jesse Owens was a 9.4 guy, obviously meaning more in the 30's.
I have to mention Jim Brown, who played in 12 game seasons. His numbers if we gave him 16 games season...hmmmm?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This Russell Wilson deal is kinda funny actually. I started off just fucking around with it, yep....trolling. I saw the reaction/impact it made. Then the guy does start...
tying rookie td record
winning a playoff game
highest passer rating ever by a two year player
winning more games than anyone after three seasons
winning a Superbowl
coming within a foot of winning another
yep, that Avante curse, hahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!
I had no idea this guy was going to be doing what he has done, I thought he'd be a solid QB, but nothing like what he has become.
I'm not bullshitting when I say if we look at his stats/wins/starts/playoff success there has never been anyone more impressive after just three seasons, nobody!!!! Sure he plays on a team with a stud back/defense but he also plays on a team with no stud receivers or TE, and the NFL is suppose to be a QB's league, so that makes what he's done even more impressive. Imagine if he had Jason Witten and Dez Bryant or the Thomas's, Welker and Emanuel Sanders. Antonio Brown?

The greatest season ever had was way back in 1934 when the Bears Beattie Feathers became the leagues first 1000 yard rusher. What makes this the greatest season ever is his 9.9 average per carry. There is some debate over that but there is no doubt it was over 8 yards a carry. Great backs might have a 6.4ish season but nobody comes close to averaging 8/9 and gains over 1000 yards.
Which reminds me of...
Houston McTear was just a junior at Baker HS in Florida when he tied the world record in the 100 yard dash at 9.0. Which is still the record today (he did it in the mid 70's) since we run meters now. He was also a running back, he averaged over 13 yards a carry his senior season. Everyone wanted him especially Florida but he was really really dumb. So he ended up at a couple JC's out here in California just running track.
Saw him at the West Coast Relays in Fresno coming from way back on a 4x2 anchor leg (Santa Monica JC) to that...woooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!! !!!!...from the crowd, most not knowing who he was. With 10 yards to go he's looking all around with that..."nothing to it"...look on his face. 1980 Olympian, but we didn't go...boycott.

Imagine a college team with two future Heisman winners in the same backfield. That's what Army had with Glenn "Mr. Outside" Davis ## and Doc "Mr.Inside" Blanchard. One winning the Heisman one year the other the next.
## 9.6 sprinter on the Army track team.
As far as two backs on the same college team that had great NFL success...Thurman Thomas and Barry Sanders at Okie State. Both in the top 15 All Time NFL rushers.
A few others...
Charles White and Marcus Allen USC
Franco Harris and Lydell Mitchell at Penn State
Mercury Morris and Duane Thomas at West Texas State

So tell me Avante, who were the best white backs with some speed and wiggle? If anyone would know it's you.
They were rare small fry, but there were a few,
Way back when there was Red "The Galloping Ghost" Grange (real name was Harold) he was a dazzling runner vs white defenders. Fast and elusive but he didn't play vs fast and elusive.
Huge "The King" McElhenny was the best runner Ive ever seen for a white guy. A former hurdles champion he had great speed and amazing agility. A fantastic broken field runner.
"Jaguar" Jon Arnett was quick and shifty, and also had speed.
Dickie Post was a darter, a stop and go, make um miss cat. Super quick!
As we know white backs are usually thumpers or hard runners with little elusiveness. Those were the exceptions.
I picked up on this guy while he was in HS, I expected big things out of him. He left Texas for Michigan, nope! Then he ended up at Rice, nope! Then...poof!

It's fucking funny watching...."you're no betting expert"..then.."one good week!"...then.."so ya got lucky again"...then..."ok ok but it can't last"...then....criclets, as it sets in...."damn hes for real"...hahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not a fan of the combine at all. It's a very bad way to do things.
Football is all about desire/need to excell. It's not about the standing long jump and silly shit like that. You go with game footage, football scenarios.
Jerry Rice was no sprinter, his 40 time was weak. So??? Now look at Olympian sprinter Jeff Demps who can't find a team to play for. Not that he shouldn't be given a shot as a slot receiver instead of a running back.
Look at Dri Archer, the fastest player in his draft, why isn't he starring with Pitt?
Who saw Alfred Morris doing what he has? Doug Martin?

It is not that common.

Let's keep score....
First NFC QB to throw 26 tds in a rookie season
First under six foot QB to win a SB
First QB to pass for 300/run for a 100 in a game
Fist second year QB to have two 100 passing ratings

Again, the team accomplished those playoff runs in spite of their quarterback shitting the bed repeatedly. The rest of the roster could be stacked enough to hide Struggle's shortcomings as much as possible because he was still on his cheap third-round rookie contract. When he gets his new 100% guaranteed big-money contract, though, his supporting cast will have to get broken up and he will get exposed when he finally has to shoulder the responsibilities of a franchise QB.

Russell Wilson vs Dan Marino first three seasons
Wilson's playoff success on a whole other level as is his wins.
Comp %
Marino 58.4, 64.2, 59.3
RW 64.1, 63.1. anorher 63.1
RW advantage
TD's
Marino 98
RW 72
Marino advantage
INT's
Marino 54
RW 26
RW advantage
Passer rating
Marino 96.0, 108.9, 84.1
RW 100.0, 101.2, 95.0
RW advantage
Looks like RW to me, anyone wanna try someone else?
So far RW has downed Cam Newton, Tom Brady, Joe Montana, Joe Flacco, Kurt Warner, Aaron Rodgers, and Dan Marino.
Who else?
There is nobody with more wins, playoff success.
I do get a chuckle out of this totally stupid...."he has a RB and a defense"...hahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!! Fuck the fact he has no receivers and a ton of HOF QB's also had a RB/defense. Fuck the fact he left the college game as the all time passing leader. Fuck the fact he never rode the bench for one second. Fuck the fact he;s had more 4th quarter game winnig drives than anyone since he's came in the league. Never seen so many who know so little about the game as I see here. It's amazing, the...DUH!...is deafening.
Anyone wanna see how badly he kicks Andrew "INT" Luck's ass? Does that fucker look goofy or what? I can't believe someone hasn't told him...."dude ya simply don't have the head for a beard, ok?"
So far RW has downed Cam Newton, Tom Brady, Joe Montana, Joe Flacco, Kurt Warner, Aaron Rodgers, and Dan Marino.

Wins a playoff game as a rookie
Only QB in history with two 100 passer ratings in first two seasons.
Wins a SB in second season
Only QB to ever pass for 300/run for 100 in a game.
Only QB in history to play in two SB in first three seasons.
The highest passer rating ever after three seasons.
Most playoff wins ever after three seasons.
Most games played in ever after three seasons.
Most wins in history after three seasons.

Coach/QB combo the most important factor on any team. You always start there. Obviously a large % of the other pieces change from season to season as we are now seeing.
Look at all the division winners, usually they have that best coach/QB combo.
Who are the champs...
Belichick/Brady
Who did they beat...
Carroll/Wilson
Who won multiple SB's...
Lombardi/Starr
Noll/Bradshaw
Walsh/Montana
Who has never played in one? Lions/Browns.....now look at their coachs/QB combo's.
So all this current player movement means little if that coach/combo duo isn't in place.

The NFC West was by far the worst division in the 1970s. The Rams pretty much won the division the entire decade. And the Saints and Falcons were in the NFC West from 1967-2002. Its only been 3-4 seasons where the NFC West has been strong. Wasn't that great from 2002 until 2011.

Melvin Gordon is the total package, and will make an immediate impact. I don't see that with Gurley, he relies too much on out running defenders, those days are over.
Gurley ran over alot of defenders as well. That's why he kept getting nagging injuries in college. Physical runner. Watch what he did to Bama's defense in the 2012 SEC Title game. He was a monster that game.

I saw him play a half dozen times or so, never got the feel he was a power guy.

I watched every game he played. He was more of a power back in his freshman season, but changed his style a bit as his injuries piled up. He just happened to be blessed with breakaway speed.

Yes they are. Gurley belongs to that Marcus Dupree, Bo Jackson, Curtis Dickey, Herschel Walker school. That being big and fast!

Speaking of Georgia running backs...

No sprinter ever looked like Herschel Walker. He ran a 10.23, when the great USSR sprinter Valery Borzov won the 72 Olympic 100m, he ran a 10.14.
