First rookie to score 40 pts since Blake in 2011. He was spectacular. As for the season he's avg. 15 pts before this 40 pt game so it's about to go up. He's been balling. Like a shooting guard version of Lillard imo, but he plays D.

Reminds me of a young d wade with less playmaking ability.

Quin Snyder's Offense Centered On 'Advantage Basketball' Concept
NOV 28, 2017 10:50 AM

Quin Snyder's offense centered on screens, cuts and drives is what he calls "advantage basketball."
The system is intended on giving players a head start whenever they catch the ball.
Snyder's first rule of advantage basketball is to never surrender your advantage. If they get a five-foot head start, they should expand it 10 feet before shooting or exchanging the baton.
"You have to keep the advantage," said Rudy Gobert. "Punish them."
Utah also runs a lot of catch-and-rolls to create additional space.
The Jazz aren't necessarily unique in these concepts but they run it with more granular detail than other teams. Utah manages to maximize the talent of their offense by generating higher quality shots.

Quinn is smart as hell. However, he's got some real demons. He has that American psycho / serial killer vibe to him.

What are you guys referring to? What demons? Has he had a hard life or problems with drugs?

:lol Typical. White coach's team is overachieving = credit to him. Black coach's team is overachieving = credit to players.

Virtually all the hipster, nerdy Lowe wannabes criticized the McMillan hiring because he was old school. It's supposed to mean slow, ISO heavy and 3 phobic, but it's really code for played in the league and/or black. Without Turner, their projected best player, for 7 games, they sit a game over .500, 9th in pace, 10th in assist rate and 20th in 3s attempted. Funny, I've seen nary a feature on the job he's done . . . guess they're too busy pretending their favorite cadre of white coaches are geniuses who've reinvented the game.

Probably true. But the replay also lacks context. Were the Suns down by 30 with 20 seconds left? It makes a little difference. But of greater interest is what will the Suns end up doing with Chandler this season? If he is a buyout, perhaps the Spurs could resurrect him as they did Boris.

Any team ostensibly can afford a buyout. Even if Chandler were only a one year rental, a 3-man rotation of LMA/Pau/Chandler would be sweet.

Chandler is going through the motions while collecting his last payday, however the young guys - Booker, Chriss, Ulis are a disgrace. Only Warren is trying to do something. It's a warning for everyone who wants tanking and rebuilding - drafting in the lottery is not a guarantee for anything.

Not to excuse his play, but with the way Hill's situation played out, it was obvious he'd be devastated and miserable.

Possible trades: Nuggets (Faried and Arthur), Magic, with Koufos (Biyombo, Augustin, Hezonja), Trail Blazers (Turner, Napier).

So true. It’s a complete cliché. Spurs got lucky that teams whiffed on Leonard and weren’t even bad enough to draft him without trading away Hill. And drafting late like the Spurs do usually means they’re taking (1) guys who will be solid rotation pieces but never great (the CoJo’s of the world) or (2) guys with flaws that caused them to drop that must be overcome. Slomo and White lacked NBA athleticism / speed, Murray was super raw and couldn't shoot, etc. And then there’s the stashes that have basically all been a disaster.

Drafting in the lottery doesn’t guarantee anything. But gives you much better odds.

"After two years without an agent, LA Clippers All-Star center DeAndre Jordan has hired new representation with trade discussions and free agency on his immediate horizon, league sources told ESPN.

Jordan, 29, has signed with Jeff Schwartz of Excel Sports Management, sources said, who will help navigate the processes expected to determine Jordan's future with the Clippers.

The franchise's devastating batch of injuries and an 8-14 start to the season has inspired rival teams to start reaching out to the Clippers front office on the availability of Jordan, league sources told ESPN."

I think he also went to a college party after a loss one night and there were pictures of him making out with several girls and drinking like an alcoholic freshman.

He was kind of like Mike price. I saw him doing that shit in Tuscaloosa a few weeks before alabama fired him. He was a straight up creep.

Joff is a spark for the other team. he's been injured half the year... It's hard to build roots on rocky ground. He hasn't been as bad as people here seem to think. That OKC game he was huge. Other than that he hasn't been getting consistent minutes. He's being used situationaly like Bertans. Pop has been really intent on playing LMA and Pau at all times it seems. Of course Spurs offensively will improve a lot with Kawhi. Defensively too. Maybe we don't see some micro-lineups for example.

I'd rather not comment much on Tony/Danny or rest of the starters. It's a small sample size since Tony came back and I have no criticism for Tony or Danny at this point. Danny has always been streaky and Tony needs the ball to be impactful. When Kawhi comes back we shall see what happens with Tony himself and how he adjusts.

76ers finally dumped Okafor (and Stauskas) to the Nets for Trevor Booker.
That's good get for Nets. He and Russell were 2 and 3 same draft weren't they? And nets have them both now

They are a lottery team if they lose any major player IMO. They depend to strongly on their starting 5. Thibs over playing of his players is a disaster waiting to happen. It's sad.

They're only a lottery team if they lose Butler or KAT, don't kid yourself. They have some decent pieces sitting on their bench that don't play enough, but can easily fill in should Dieng/Wiggins/Teague get hurt (again in Teague's case).

I read that article and there is more than just the bench players being unhappy. Reportedly KAT is also unhappy. He played last game 38 minutes and only took 6 shots. Article goes on to highlight how you need as a coach to keep your bigs engaged offensively and Thibs has neglected it. It's interesting. There is trouble.

That would all depend on LMA. Is he the disgruntled, incredibly shrinking, prima donna that we saw last season or the All-Star we have seen this season? We clearly cannot afford a frontline trio of LMA/Pau/Marc, nor do we have enough minutes/touches to keep them all happy.

If THIS is the real LMA, then replacing him with Marc would be a downgrade, anyhow.

The way he schooled Horford last night while largely holding him in check defensively (though plenty of switching) ... shoutout to Pau for continuing to be a rock on defense.

He should be in the conversation to start the All Star game, not just be in it. Durant is a shoe-in, and the Pels don’t deserve two starters. But probably will be Jokic. For those teams who could have dealt for him over the summer, LMA would be in the conversation with Embiid, Porzingis and Drummond for the third frontcourt All Star starter spot under the old rules from the East along with Lebron and Giannis.

If Oladipo isn't starting the All-Star game, something is wrong with the NBA.

dude is clutch man. He may be better than Paul George. Maybe not from a talent perspective but definitely from a team perspective.

He's been better this year, that's for sure. But hard to say he's better cause PG is in a weird situation right now. PG's better than what he's showing this year obviously and I think he'll return to his old self next year in Los Angeles.

Who would of thought that it was actually OKC got fleeced in the Paul George deal. OKC gonna lose everything going all in while Indy got an All Star and solid rotation piece who I think will eventually be an above average starter. Wow this season has been very interesting

Yeah the pace they play will be good for him. He'll get a lot of high quality shots and all the the opportunities to chuck his heart desires. How do him and Ingram fit though?

Boogie has proved this season he's not the uncoachable guy that most people thought. I just want to watch him playing on a top team, at this point of his career, he deserves it.

Paul George is a nice player but the Pacers seemed to do just as well without him as with him. Olapido's success doesn't surprise me much. In college you saw the potential.

I wanted Vic early that year before he got into lottery status but the kid has always had heart. You love going to war with guys like that. He's also been clutch this year so he's showing he can be a closer. But he's been a great fit, where he went to college, and the style they want to play. Nate showing diversity with his style of play.

He's a dominant player. He's the perfect antidote to small ball. I think he's shooting too many 3 point jumpers from the few games I've watched this season, but when he decides to go inside, especially if you put a small guy on him, he's likely to punish that smaller defender.

I really did want him on the Spurs, but unfortunately he's playing too well to be traded and as usual, I don't think the Spurs would want him due to his perceived character issues (for the record, I think he'd be fine on a team like the Spurs).

Do you guys think New Orleans would trade him if their record continues to flounder?

He's from Indiana too, isn't he? I recall that being mentioned around the time of the trade. Looks like the home fans would be even happier that he's a local guy that's also playing well and looking like a new perennial All-Star.

Also, the LeBron to Houston thing, how would Houston get/create the cap space to pay him? I am starting to think with the Rockets having the number one record so far this season that, that would be his number one destination since they also have one of his best buddies in Chris Paul.

for as much as that debate has been going on between Chinook and Manu4tres about Patty, the 50mills, the chemistry and what not... chemistry and fit is so important for Pop that there is no other reason to explain that many years of Bonner, who is now a broadcaster and is seen in the training facility all the time practicing with the guys and helping to keep them in shape. And there have been some questionable contracts given out lately due to the chemistry aspect bc there is no doubt that for similar $ different players could have been obtained, but it's not just about their games, but their personality and "fit".

Not everyone can be a Spur either. Look at JSimms. I know you don't want to accept it, but he wanted to be gone. He felt restricted in Pop's system and he wasn't going to achieve his personal/individual goals in the Spurs, who are oriented towards teams and his ego was going to be subordinated to the collective.

Spurs emphasize the selflessness to a fault to the point that the team comes before you (get over yourself). It's not easy. Everyone respects the Spurs, but not everyone can be a Spur or even wants to be a Spur. The first time Boogie gets benched for slacking off on defense and Pop placed Lauvergne out there he's going to fume. He's not going to be as polite as Lamarcus about "touches" either.

Oladipo is from Maryland but he was recruited by Crean to Indiana University. He was a plus defender, high energy guy, not a good shooter at all. So yeah, he's a local guy essentially.

he definitely has the biggest engine, and it's clear he worked a lot in offseason, is another player.

ps: the big difference is the unreal increase in% 3pt: 36% x 44% (never greater than 36% in any previous season), no positive or negative influence of Westbrook about this, incidentally, his 3pt% in his only season with Westbrook was greater than in all his years playing with a larger role in Orlando, his improvement was ONLY his work in the low season, good for him, which is reaping the rewards now.

Been calling Lebron to Houston for months now. Makes too much sense tbh.

Same. Lakers were always a red herring.

I realize he'd never sign with Spurs, but these Lowe wannabes are so biased against Spurs in the past year and a half (because they're not trying to be Warriors and praising them is now considered played out) that one even had the gall to claim "Houston would give him the best chance of beating Golden State. It might be his only chance."

Watching the Pelicans, I don't know why posters are up in Cousins' jock. He's not just a tremendously shitty and lazy defender, he often just loafs down the court after turnovers, leading to blown defensive assignments, dunks and wide open three pointers. The guy is lazy as fuck. How can anyone want him on their team?
