just noticed the rodeo road trip is only 6 games :wow... is that the least they've ever been scheduled for?

I think last year's was pretty short too. Longer ASB means fewer games for which the ATTC is unavailable.

The Lakers organization slowly killing Brook Lopez.

958899454261780480

http://www.espn.com/espn/now?nowId=21-0750554777783375132-4

A very frustrating season for Brook Lopez continued when he played a season-low nine minutes and did not play after the starters were temporarily benched at the 10:27 mark in the third. In the middle of the fourth, Lopez looked incredibly frustrated and put a towel over his head on the bench before later rubbing his eyes with it. He would leave the bench during a timeout for a brief moment before returning and cheering on his teammates. Luke Walton explained that he did not put Lopez back in with the game out of hand and wanted to give Thomas Bryant some minutes in the blowout. Lopez, who did not talk to reporters afterward, returns to Brooklyn for the first time since being traded to Los Angeles. In his first game against the Nets, an emotional Lopez had his best game of the season with 34 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks.

Yeah just saw it. He attacked the basket -needlessly with the team holding a big lead with 3 seconds left - Matthews defending him, came down, and his ankle just gave out.

Pretty sad considering that he's a fringe player. Hopefully he can somehow bounce back and stick in the league after this.

Monroe would be dumb to go anywhere other than the Celtics or Pels imo. Celtics can offer him the most $$ + they're a contender. But he'd have to come off the bench.

If it's about ego, the Pels can offer good $$ and he'd start right away + it's his hometown.

I agree with everything you said so it makes the Spurs a darkhorse when it comes to Monroe but the Spurs do have a need for him seeing as Lauvergne is worthless and becoming a figment of our imagination with each passing game. Plus it would take the load off for Gasol to take a game off here and there.

Why, TBH?

Not hurt, years of being experience a role-player, no player option if things go south, better outside shooter. Gay has higher upside and could end up being a Spur for a few more years if things work out. But for what the team has on their roster right now, I think Johnson would give them a better chance of winning. Though to be fair, I haven't seen Joe play this season, and his stats aren't good.

He won't be traded right now.
We shall see what happens in the summer and also how Pop juggles his rotation after the ASB when he has Rudy and Kawhi healthy and he has to cut the munchkin sized lineups.

There is a possibility in my mind that Forbes sees minutes cut although he has been shooting/scoring well. Patty and Tony may compete for minutes and Tony may lose out... specially after seeing him not close games this entire season.

Nah, Davis "doesn't want to play center", so they'll do what Spurs do with Aldridge: Start him at power forward and have him play it for the first 6 minutes of the 1st and 3rd quarters, then have him play center for most or all of the remainder of his minutes.

I’d hate to see Kawhi traded. It’s hard to even fathom it but I agree AD is the target that makes the most sense if Kawhi’s people finds a trade. The Greek Freak is on the short list too. To have to trade a 26 year old star like Kawhi would be a horrible failure on the part of the Spurs FO.

Yep. This could be worse than OKC trading Harden. Good thing I have my Spurstalk family to go through this Kawhi drama. Reminds me of a song:

It's a rare condition, this day and age
To read any good news on the newspaper page
Love and tradition of the grand design
Some people say it's even harder to find

Well then there must be some magic clue inside these gentle walls
Cause all I see is a tower of dreams
Real love burstin' out of every seam

As days go by
We're gonna fill our house with happiness
The moon may cry
We're gonna smother the blues with tenderness

When days go by
There's room for you
Room for me
For gentle hearts an opportunity

As days go by
It's the bigger love of the family

I don't think it has much to do with the lack of all-stars, it's his age showing..the decline was inevitable..

LeBron has an insane mileage.

MASTER PLAN

LeBron needs to opt-in his player option.

Trade him for Anderson + Tucker + Nene after the season.

Let Ariza walk.

Re-sign Paul, Capela, Luc and Gerald Green.

Sign Wade and Jeff Green.

Sign shooters and a backup big.

2018/2019 Houston Rockets

Chris Paul / Dwyane Wade
James Harden / Eric Gordon
Luc Mbah a Moute / Gerald Green
LeBron James / Jeff Green
Clint Capela / Backup big

I don't disagree. With that said, I don't believe the Aldridge way is the winning way as the paradigm has shifted to one with motion and ball movement as opposed to post ups and ISOs. Most teams are content with giving up the less efficient mid rsnge J's and post ups because they won't beat very many teams in today's game.

Well that report sure isn't helping their trade value. Why give up assets if you can just wait a week and pick them off the buyout market?

In all honesty, teams are just finally getting smarter. It makes no sense to give up assets for a 3 month rental of Belinelli or Illyasova. Neither are big enough difference makers -- they are complimentary outliers that provide depth for the teams that would be interested in trading for them ( contenders). The bad teams would only be interested in their contracts since they're expiring, but why would Hawks take on bad deals unless picks (plural) are attached? Contenders are the only market for these type of niche role players who have expiring deals on bad teams.

Not sure why this is so hard to figure out.

LeBron James Reportedly Cursed at Cavaliers Executives in 'Heated Meeting

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2758056-lebron-james-reportedly-cursed-at-cavaliers-executives-in-heated-meeting (http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2758056-lebron-james-reportedly-cursed-at-cavaliers-executives-in-heated-meeting)

Serious discord has reportedly surfaced between LeBron James and members of the Cleveland Cavaliers' front office in recent weeks.

According to The Athletic's Jason Lloyd, "James cursed toward at least two team executives" during the late January team meeting in which some players questioned the legitimacy of Kevin Love's illness.

Lloyd noted the Cavaliers "have been noticeably pivoting away from James' recommendations" since the offseason. According to Lloyd, James wanted them to bring Kyrie Irving to training camp, but they instead placated the point guard's trade request by shipping him to the Boston Celtics.

Citing a source, Lloyd reported the Cavaliers completed the deal "without consulting James."

On top of that, Lloyd wrote James has "no relationship" with owner Dan Gilbert or general manager Koby Altman. Gilbert did not renew the contract of former GM David Griffin following the 2016-17 season.

Since then, turmoil has engulfed the organization from top to bottom, with Gilbert reportedly seizing control of basketball operations.

Bleacher Report's Ken Berger previously reported Gilbert is "firmly in charge of basketball decisions once again," while Altman has been stuck in purgatory without a defined role.

"Whereas Griffin would consult with James and keep him informed of major roster decisions, that is no longer happening," Lloyd wrote. "James doesn't trust this front office, and there is no communication now between management and star player."

"The word is out that Dan is running things," a rival executive told Berger. "Frankly, that's where he's happiest and the role he's most comfortable in."

James won't waive his no-trade clause before Thursday's deadline and reportedly intends to "see [the] year through in Cleveland," according to Yahoo Sports' Shams Charania.

For now, all indications suggest a second divorce may be in play this summer.

Shocking. They never liked each other but they used each other to get a title. Now that the ride is over, they have no reason to hide their distain.

If LeBron wanted to be with Cavs long term, he and his buddy, who is the agent for half the roster, wouldn’t have leveraged LeBron to give the scrub roster above market value so they’d be untradeable. Buyer beware on LeBron. He aims to take over any franchise he plays for.

Starting to think they would have been better off with the package the Spurs offered them. The nets pick is valuable but they didn’t get players that help them win now (with Lebron) which they would have gotten trading with the Spurs. They better not fumble their pick.

Knicks should absolutely tank the rest of the season. They could easily still get a Top 5 pick.
yeah, mentioned it in the wrong thread.

knicks should go on a 30 game losing streak so they can get a high draft pick to put alongside KP.

It's gonna go to Ben Simmons.

OKC is being real physical with the Warriors and the Warriors are not responding well to it. Every foul they give is a hard foul. Warriors are are soft and this game is showing it.

Is there a chance the Spurs can bring physical on Saturday?

They're too crippled, tbh. LMA will also shoot fadeaways when Steph guards him, tbh.

No team will, he wouldn't be eligible with anyone but the Cavs. He'll prolly keep doing what he's been doing, taking one year max contracts.

Spurs brought it to them last year up until Kawhi got hurt. This game is an example of why I believed the Spurs would have kept the lead had Kawhi not gotten hurt. Warriors wilt when they know the other team is not going to be intimidated by them which was happening with the Spurs until Zaza broke Kawhi. It's one the reasons why I don't respect the Warriors. They are talented but they are a very soft team. In the future look for other teams to be physical with them. They don't really have an enforcer. Draymond is a fake tough guy while David West will be gone in a year.

Also notice how Curry and the rest of them didn't show off tonight or dance at any point of the game. It's clear OKC's physicality got to them.

Basketball is a matchups matter.

I truly believe Kawhi can match KD and LMA outplay Dray. Also Danny could have one of his great defensive performances on Curry. I still believe it.

If OKC makes a good move at the trade deadline I think they could actually give the Dubs a scare in a series, or even win if they get some injury luck. They really can match up with them; they play the style the Spurs want to try to play but they actually have capable penetrators and bigs that aren't softer than baby shit.

yes, only we just need to replace the dwarfs with 6'7 '' 6'8 '' two-way wings (which have been found in the gleague by some teams), and the slow bigmens for physical players that can create decent screens for our players and defend the pick and roll against good teams

Would much rather see what Murray can do on Curry and have Verde concentrate on Klay. If Gay is healthy he can stay on Iggy.

It’s a good thing you noticed the weak screens.

The thing that peeves me from Lamarcus the most, truly is how bad of a screen setter he is. He never wants to make contact. Always slips the screen not really freeing his guard and I do believe better screen setting is the reason Manu and Dijon have better PnR rapport with Gasol.

True, he's no Tim Duncan, but it's worth noting that his Screen Assists have vastly improved this season, so he's definitely giving more effort there.
