How much is rudy’s Cap hold?

$13,113,360

Fusternino

Spotrac gives Gay's cap hold as $13,113,360.

Glad to see Spurs interesting in bringing back Dedmon. He's a great stretch 5. And would complete our front court. Still have a by-committee situation at the 3, though.

They're not renouncing Rudy, or making any trades. They're going to sign a 30+ year old, slow combo forward or guard and call it an off-season.

Spurs have 3 shooters on favorable 1 year deals (Forbes, Beli, and Bertans) plus draft picks to attach in a S&T....

And they're still gonna keep the powder dry, smh. I really hate this FO once the draft is done.

Sure, just means moving more money. Like if you trade DeRozan, you can keep the cap hold for Rudy and still have sizable cap room. To get to 12M in cap space While keeping Rudy’s cap hold (so you could exceed cap And re-sign him and bring in a 12M player), SA would need to:

Renounce all cap holds except Rudy
Sign Luka and Keldon to their Rookie Scale deals
Defer Milu
Renounce MLE & Bi-Annual Exceptions

If they did that, SA would be at -7.9M in cap space.

That means to get to 12M in cap space, SA would need to trade 20M in salaries with taking nothing back:

So something like Mills and Bertans moved would get you close while being able to keep Rudy.

Yeah, I understand it. I just got excited when I saw the cap line went up 7%, and started looking for angles. The cap holds are there specifically to keep teams from doing what I was talking about doing. That's what I meant about having it both ways - you don't get to clear the cap space and still keep the player.

I knew better, just went blind.

Lol. Like it matters. Dude is going to be 32-33 coming off an Achilles tear when he does return in 2021 and will probably miss a good chunk of time in his return year. Kyrie is overrated and injury prone anyway with all those knee surgeries. Jordan is irrelevant. If KD hadn't torn the Achilles this would be a big deal

It’s just good since he’s going East, hurts GS and GS is still capped out with Klay/Curry and their role player advantage is fading. As long as Kawhi doesn’t chose lakers there is no superteam per say

Oh for sure, his injury/departure is a good thing but the Nets aren't even going to be reaping the benefits for another year and they're banking on him returning close to what he was. I get they "have to" go all in and roll the dice I just don't think it's going to end well for BKN

Those days 20M was already extremely pricey for all-stars. I saw a tweet earlier that talked about how around 2005-2006 the entire salary cap was just over 50 million, and now we have individual players on the verge of making that much in a season. This adds a whole new level of laughter to the fact that Houston will be paying CP3 44 million per season soon enough, almost the entire salary cap in 2006. :rofl At least we don’t have that contract. Kaminsky is the perfect non-producer for the Suicide Line-up.

If a front office can talk themselves into thinking Mills at 12:01 4/50 is a great deal, they can talk themselves into Frank the Tank at the MLE

Damn.

Oh, and I forgot to mention Lillard’s contract.. 50M on the final year? Damn. Honestly, fatty’s contract would’ve been fair had he been providing what he did in 14. But no, so fuck him.

There were already tweets earlier that the spurs among another teams were interested. Just think it's funny watching dudes on ST cry about spurs not getting players they had no money for and then pointing to 1 guy who signed for the MLE as if it was a certain lock he was coming to SA if they offered the same as Orlando. People act like spurs are just sitting on their hands when in reality SA is a boring place and given the same money players would likely sign elsewhere.

Apparently Favors is being cut loose to facilitate this, so either they'll sign some minimal placeholder PF or go with Bogdanovic/Ingles playing it nominally (which shouldn't be a constant, but might have to be).

Spurs on that two year treadmill timeline. Even the front office knows you can't win shit with Derozan and Aldridge as your two best players so they're just gonna ride out the last two years of their contracts. Pretty embarrassing when every other team is looking to get better while Pop is content at capping the Spurs ceiling as a first round fodder 7th/8th seed type team. DPG was right, Spurs needed to pick a direction - go all in or rebuild. They chose neither.

If infact Green decides tonight and as expected Scumbag doesn't, then the former is probably re-signing with the Raptors because if the latter goes to the Lakers (I'd have to see it to believe it, but we'll see), they won't be able to sign him anyway nor will anyone else have a chance to win the championship.
