A naturalized Hispanic man says he was detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents who were looking for another person on a deportation order, and now the man is questioning his vote for President Donald Trump.
Jensy Machado said he is a U.S. citizen and provided News4 documentation of his legal status.
Machado said he was driving to work Wednesday with two other men when he was stopped by ICE agents on Lomond Drive in Manassas, a short distance from his home. He said he was confused by what was happening, why agents surrounded the pickup truck.
“And they just got out of the car with the guns in their hands and say, turn off the car, give me the keys, open the window, you know,” Machado told Telemundo 44’s Rosbelis Quinoñez, who first reported his story. “Everything was really fast.”[/COLOR]
He said the agents said the name of a man they were seeking for a deportation order, someone who had given Machado’s home address. Machado told them that wasn’t his name — he didn’t know anyone by that name — and offered to show them his real ID compliant Virginia driver’s license.
“They didn’t ask me for any ID,” Machado said. “I was telling the officer, if I can give him ID, but he said just keep my hands up, not moving. After that, he told me to get out of the car and put the handcuffs on me. And then he went to me and said how did I get into this country and if I was waiting for a court date or if I have any case. And I told him I was an American citizen, and he looked at his other partner like, you know, smiling, like saying, can you believe this guy? Because he asked the other guy, ‘Do you believe him?’”
Machado said he was uncuffed and immediately released after showing his driver’s license.
The two men with him were taken into custody. He does not know why.
Machado said the experience shook his faith in the immigration enforcement efforts of Trump, for whom he voted.

Trump administration ICE interior arrests of illegal aliens inside the US has already surpassed all of Biden's ICE interior arrests in all of Fiscal Year 2024.
In Trump's first 50 days in office from January 20th through March 10th, the Trump administration ICE has made 32,809 arrests of illegal aliens in the interior of the US. This almost matches all of Biden ICE interior arrests in FY 2024, which were about 33,300. Officials say in the last two days since March 10th, the Trump ICE arrests are now above this number.
Of the roughly 33,000 ICE arrests under Trump so far:
14,111 are convicted criminals
9,980 have pending charges
8,000 + have immigration violations (being in US illegally)
ICE currently has 47,600 illegal aliens in detention, and they are "maxed out" on beds.
ICE and DHS officials then said a review of their records showed that the Biden administration "cooked the books" and "falsely inflated" ICE arrest data, and were "purposely misleading the American public" by categorizing illegal aliens who were processed by ICE and released into the interior of the US as ICE arrests.
ICE says their review found "tens of thousands" of cases in which these so called "pass through arrests", where no immigration enforcement action was taken and the aliens were released into the country, were counted as interior ICE arrests in the data.
ICE says this was a directive from the previous leadership at DHS, and it included thousands of violent criminals and gang members.
ICE says they are currently attempting to locate and arrest these previous "pass through arrests" from the Biden admin.

A New Hampshire man with a green card was detained by immigration officers at Logan Airport and is being held by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement at the Donald W. Wyatt detention facility in Central Falls, Rhode Island.
Fabian Schmidt’s family said they are unsure of why he is being held. They said he has a recently renewed green card, and no active issues in court.

On Tuesday, Schmidt was transported to the regional headquarters for ICE in Burlington, Massachusetts, and then transferred to the Wyatt facility. The family, including his partner, who is a cardiologist in Nashua, have acquired attorneys and been working with the German consulate in hopes to have him released on bail.
Schmidt and his mother moved to the U.S. in 2007, and received green cards in 2008. He moved from California to New Hampshire in 2022.
Senior described her son as a hardworking electrical engineer with a partner and 8-year-old daughter who are both U.S. citizens.
