Then actually do it.

It's not the person -- it's the process that's important.

You throw it away for one person, you throw it away for everyone including yourself.

Of all the rights to want to throw away, you choose this one. :rollin

That nazi is good with throwing away the first amendment, it's game over without that one.

Yeah I'm not gonna take ShipwreckedCrew as a trustworthy source after the retarded shit you have posted on this forum for years, Pizza Boy. Even if he was an MS-13 gang member I still don't think he should be kidnapped and shipped without due process to a concentration camp, which you want to pretend is just normal legal deportation. Kind of funny that he's some violent gang member whose worst crimes are traffic violations. Not my problem if you don’t find a 20+ year fed prosecutor who worked regularly FBI/DEA/ATF/ICE as being trustworthy, you just look foolish regurgitating the MSM :cry Maryland Man :cry narrative.

He had his due process back in 2019 you stupid fuck. How many times must you be told? He had an order of removal to be deported to any other country besides the country on the withholding of removal. He sat in a detention center for the max amount of time allowed (6 months) and no other country wanted to willingly take in an immigration court designated MS-13 member. The order of removal was never vacated he could/should have been deported years ago but the Biden admin wasn’t keen on deporting so he stayed in US illegally.

Of all the people to rally behind you chose this guy :lol

It doesn't matter, I already steelmanned your position by saying even if he is an MS 13 gang member I'm still not good with sending him to a concentration camp with no due process. You want to pretend it's the same thing as legal deportation and you want to talk about ridiculous things to rally around. Also love how you avoid like the plague that 75-90% of people Fuhrer sent to the death camp have no convictions. Fucking nazi piece of shit.

are US citizens who are forcibly rendered to other countries without any due process by the US government eligible for reentry?

hopefully so

I hope they reenter the country, sue DHS/ICE and win

ICE detained the first family on Tuesday, April 22, and the second family on Thursday, April 24. In both cases, ICE held the families incommunicado, refusing or failing to respond to multiple attempts by attorneys and family members to contact them. In one instance, a mother was granted less than one minute on the phone before the call was abruptly terminated when her spouse tried to provide legal counsel’s phone number.

As a result, the families were completely isolated during critical moments when decisions were being made about the welfare of their minor children. This included decisions with serious implications for the health, safety, and legal rights of the children involved–without any opportunity to coordinate with caretakers or consult with legal representatives.

These actions stand in direct violation of ICE’s own written and informal directives, which mandate coordination for the care of minor children with willing caretakers–regardless of immigration status–when deportations are being carried out.

Both families have possible immigration relief, but because ICE denied them access to their attorneys, legal counsel was unable to assist and advise them in time. With one family, government attorneys had assured legal counsel that a legal call would be arranged within 24-48 hours, as well as a call with a family member. Instead, just after close of business and after courts closed for the day, ICE suddenly reversed course and informed counsel that the family would be deported at 6am the next morning–before the court reopened.

JOHN ROBERTS, FOX NEWS: If I can finish up with this idea. Very significant development that you’re arresting judges now. Could be that the judges have engaged in terribly bad behavior and deserve to be arrested. But you know what critics will say. They’ll say this is a government that is expanding the powers of Article I of the Constitution, now they’re arresting judges. How do you respond to that?

PAM BONDI: No one is above the law, John. No one is above the law in this country. And if you are destroying evidence, if you are obstructing justice when you have victims sitting in a courtroom of domestic violence and you’re escorting a criminal defendant out a back door, it will not be tolerated and it is a crime in the United States of America. Doesn’t matter who you are, you’re gonna be prosecuted.

I like Bondi but she's dead wrong on this, President Trump is above the law. That's the law.

second US citizen with cancer deported

One of the children is a U.S. citizen child suffering from a rare form of metastatic cancer and was deported out of the country without medication or consultation with their treating physicians — despite ICE being notified in advance of the child’s medical needs. The civil rights organization says that one of the mothers is pregnant, and was deported without ensuring any continuity of prenatal care or proper medical care.https://www.rollingstone.com/politics/politics-news/trump-deport-child-cancer-us-citizen-1235325778/

Judge Doughty deep cut

Is he a traitor now?

A federal judge in Louisiana ruled for the plaintiffs. U.S. District Judge Terry Doughty agreed that federal officials had violated the First Amendment by coercing or significantly encouraging social media platforms content moderation decisions. Doughty issued an order that limited the extent to which the White House and several other government agencies could communicate with social media platforms.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit largely upheld that ruling, prompting the Biden administration to ask the Supreme Court to intervene. The justices put Doughtys order on hold while they reviewed the dispute.

More than 100 people who are allegedly in the U.S. unlawfully were arrested in an overnight raid at an underground nightclub in east-central Colorado, the Drug Enforcement Administration said.

At least 114 people were detained and placed on "buses for processing and likely eventual deportation" in Colorado Springs on April 27, according to the DEA's Rocky Mountain Division. The arrests were part of an enforcement operation and drug investigation involving over 300 officers and agents from federal and local agencies, said DEA Rocky Mountain Division Special Agent in Charge Jonathan Pullen.

Irish woman living legally in US for decades detained after visiting her father in Ireland

An Irish woman who has been living legally in the United States for decades has been taken into detention by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) after a trip to Ireland to visit her sick father.

Cliona Ward (54), who went to the US in her early teens and is the sole carer for a son with special needs, is in an ICE facility in Tacoma, Washington state, according to the enforcement agency’s website.

Her sister, Orla Holladay, who also lives in the US, said Ward travelled back to Ireland recently with their stepmother to visit their father, who has dementia.

Trumplandia has undermined the presumption of regularity for the DOJ before judges

Misleading, lying and defying court orders has consequences

Sykes rejected the government’s arguments, reasoning that it would likely violate the petitioner’s constitutional rights. She wrote that Gutierrez-Contreras’s petition “raises the serious question whether his removal under the AEA without notice and an opportunity to challenge the removal is a violation of his rights under the Due Process Clause.”

She also indicated that, given the administration’s recent history, she was not inclined to give the government the benefit of the doubt in the instant case without additional details.

“While Respondents challenge the requirement of fourteen days’ notice as unnecessary given that Petitioner, and others similarly situated, are solely entitled to ‘reasonable notice’ under J.G.G., Respondents fail to articulate specifically what they believe is sufficient to comply with the requirement for ‘reasonable notice’ in their briefing and at the hearing on this Petition,” the order states. “This Court cannot, and will not, rely on vague and undefined statements about notice procedures when an individual’s due process rights are implicated. Therefore, the Court holds that Petitioner’s TRO raises a serious question related to the possible violation of his due process rights if he is removed under the AEA without fourteen days’ notice and an opportunity to challenge the removal.”

where's the justice?

An Irish woman who has been living legally in the United States (https://www.irishtimes.com/tags/united-states/) for decades has been taken into detention by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) after a trip to Ireland to visit her sick father.

On her return to the US, Ward, who has been living in Santa Cruz, California (https://www.irishtimes.com/tags/california/), for more than 30 years, was questioned about drug possession convictions from more than a decade ago that have reportedly been “expunged” under state but not under federal law.

A holder of a valid green card, Ward was held when she landed at San Francisco International Airport as queries were raised about the past convictions.

She was then released but returned to the airport last Monday to show documentation to officials from US Customs and Border Protection recording how the convictions had been expunged.

However, she was taken into custody, moved to a detention facility outside Seattle, Washington, and, according to reports, is now due before the courts until May 7th next.

Mo Tkacik is my favorite investigative reporter right now

But as frightening as it felt watching teenagers parade guns around her block, the kids didn’t seem like a disciplined force to Shannon Peterson, a longtime ESL teacher and neighbor of Romero’s who had become attracted during Invasion Summer to the cause of deporting Venezuelan gang members. “It was more like racing down the alley with a blunt and a beer in your hand, music blaring and no plates, no fears, no fucks given,” she told the Prospect with a rueful laugh. “Not something that was super … organized. I think it was more like a franchise model.”

What was, by contrast, extremely well organized and centrally coordinated was the public relations rollout by which Tren de Aragua metamorphosed from an arcane obsession of organized crime buffs into an existential threat to the American way of life. That’s because it was masterminded by a politically connected, $475-an-hour crisis communications firm at the apparent behest of Romero’s landlord.

But not all PR is misinformation and not all lies are devoid of truth. A handful of abandoned and neglected apartment buildings in Aurora had been de facto “occupied” by a legitimately violent and vindictive group of actors, and the peculiar insistence of Aurora’s Democratic councilmembers (https://x.com/CoombsForAurora/status/1834291234698858788), its interim police chief (https://www.npr.org/2024/09/06/nx-s1-5100765/aurora-police-chief-says-theres-no-evidence-that-venezuelan-gang-took-over-apartment), and most emphatically its regional housing advocacy organizations that Venezuelan gangs were simply “not a thing” was politically and substantively unwise. In the short term, the “gaslighting” seems to have offended the gangs’ previously woke neighbors far in excess of the crime itself; in the long term, the underlying crises at the heart of the hysteria were the products of foolish political decisions that had gotten virtually no media attention, much less sober analysis. And those foolish decisions, culminating in the buildup of Venezuelans with no criminal record languishing in CECOT while documented violent criminals and gang leaders enjoy at least a modicum of due process in domestic detention centers, could easily lead to much more foolish ones in the lunacy of the current political moment.
https://prospect.org/justice/2025-04-24-runaway-tren-de-aragua-colorado-housing-gangs/

Winehole23
04-28-2025, 06:43 PM
The “invasion” of Aurora was the result of a series of conscious political market interventions: the Trump administration’s decision to vaporize what was left of the Venezuelan economy, the Biden administration’s decision in 2022 to loosen work authorization restrictions under pressure from corporations reeling from “labor shortages,” Denver’s decision to brand itself a “sanctuary city,” Texas’s decision to punish sanctuary cities with hundreds of buses of migrants who can’t legally work, Denver’s decision to quietly outsource the problem of housing new residents to a handful of community activists with no systems of governance or oversight. There is likely more blame to be distributed at this point than there is food and housing, and it makes sense that more Americans than ever feel that it is time to examine the evidence, correct the excesses, close the loopholes, and throw out some of the bums.

But that is not quite what is happening.

Winehole23
04-28-2025, 06:45 PM
Law enforcement officials appear to have had other plans. Of nearly 100 suspected TDA members whose names were either publicized when they were charged with crimes, or released in a document dump to America First Legal, an advocacy group founded during the Biden administration by Stephen Miller, not one was on the list of men sent to Bukele’s famous dungeon. The only name the Prospect recognized on the list of 238 was that of Nixon Azuaje Perez, a 20-year-old former resident of an apartment complex owned by Romero’s landlord who was accused of hiding evidence in a gruesome shoot-out last summer, though his mother says he was scapegoated and police never added his name to its public list of “confirmed members” of the gang. During the congressional hearing Romero appeared at, House Judiciary Committee chair Jim Jordan (R-OH) boasted (https://judiciary.house.gov/committee-activity/hearings/judicial-overreach-and-constitutional-limits-federal-courts-0) that three—three!—of the 238 men “on that plane” to El Salvador were known to have traveled through the Denver area, which seemed an alarmingly low number for a state whose capital Romero’s law enforcement sources have assured her is the official “headquarters of TDA in America.”

Winehole23
04-28-2025, 06:46 PM
Perhaps law enforcement officials are keener to continue investigating and prosecuting cases than disappear their information sources, which is understandable. But the fact that 80 percent or more of the men disappeared to El Salvador have no apparent criminal record in any country suggests that Trump’s own law enforcement apparatus saved hardened murderers and human traffickers from the horrors of the gulag and condemned hundreds of innocent beauticians and day laborers to hell on earth in their place. All for a sadistic PR stunt?

Winehole23

One of the few people on the manifest indicted for any crimes was César Humberto López-Larios, an accused high-level boss (https://www.courtlistener.com/docket/68841386/1/united-states-v-lopez-larios/) in MS-13 arrested last summer at the Houston airport who was allegedly involved in secret negotiations (https://www.dropsitenews.com/p/secret-bukele-trump-deal-grenas) between the gang and Bukele to clamp down on murders and whip votes in exchange for certain financial and territorial concessions. López-Larios’ trial was widely expected (https://insightcrime.org/news/us-terrorism-trial-ms13-leader-expose-el-salvador-gang-talks/) to shed light on the details of that secret truce, first revealed in 2020 by the website El Faro, which pieced together the negotiations through hundreds of prison intelligence reports. But last month, the DOJ abruptly dismissed the case, citing (https://www.courtlistener.com/docket/29108654/92/united-states-v-henriquez/) “sensitive foreign policy considerations.” (Bukele denies the existence of the truce, and his administration ordered the relevant prisons to delete hard drives (file:///%5C%5CUsers%5Cdaviddayen%5CDownloads%5Cordered%20t he%20relevant%20prisons%20to%20delete%20hard%20dri ves) corroborating the reports immediately following the publication of El Faro’s report.)

this is ominous, Trump's mass deportation policy has already assumed police state qualities

The Trump administration is looking to build an immigration detention facility at Travis Air Force Base in Fairfield, California, and pushing to speed up a review process, according to internal government communications obtained by KQED.

The proposed installation is part of an aggressive effort to expand immigration detention (https://www.kqed.org/news/12016823/ice-plans-new-detention-center-near-san-francisco-can-california-stop-it)nationally, and specifically to use property owned by the U.S. Department of Defense in service of President Trump’s stated goal of deporting 1 million people in his first year in office.

In the early April emails, federal officials discussed efforts to evaluate several military installations, including Travis Air Force Base, for Homeland Security’s immigration detention and removal operations — and tee them up for approval by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.

The emails show significant coordination among Department of Defense and Homeland Security officials to expedite the plans. The emails do not describe the scope or design of the proposed detention compound at Travis Air Force Base, nor how many people it would be expected to hold.

‘We’re citizens!’: Oklahoma City family traumatized after ICE raids home, but they weren’t suspects

...
The woman, who News 4 will refer to as “Marisa”, and her three daughters came to Oklahoma looking for a slower, more affordable pace of life.

They rented a house in a seemingly safe northwest Oklahoma City neighborhood.

Her husband stayed back in Maryland a couple of extra weeks, planning to join them this weekend.

“I was like, ‘okay, Oklahoma’s my home now,’” Marisa said.

But any comfort they had disappeared Thursday morning when about 20 men, armed with guns, busted through the door.

The ST king of disinformation strikes again :lol

Hard to see a crime when all you do is rely on and swallow whole screenshots from Bluesky and don't take the time to read the actual criminal complaint against Judge Dugan. Caught with your pants down again...will you ever learn?

Bolded is from her OWN courtroom deputy. She's fucked.

D. Judge DUGAN escorts Flores-Ruiz through a “jury door” to avoid his arrest.

29. Multiple witnesses have described their observations after Judge DUGAN returned
to her courtroom after directing members of the arrest team to the Chief Judge’s office. For
example, the courtroom deputy recalled that upon the courtroom deputy’s return to the courtroom,
defense counsel for Flores-Ruiz was talking to the clerk, and Flores-Ruiz was seated in the jury
box, rather than in the gallery. The courtroom deputy believed that counsel and the clerk were
having an off-the-record conversation to pick the next court date. Defense counsel and Flores-Ruiz
then walked toward each other and toward the public courtroom exit. The courtroom deputy then
saw Judge DUGAN get up and heard Judge DUGAN say something like “Wait, come with me.”

10
Despite having been advised of the administrative warrant for the arrest of Flores-Ruiz, Judge
DUGAN then escorted Flores-Ruiz and his counsel out of the courtroom through the “jury door,”
which leads to a nonpublic area of the courthouse. These events were also unusual for two reasons.
First, the courtroom deputy had previously heard Judge DUGAN direct people not to sit in the jury
box because it was exclusively for the jury’s use. Second, according to the courtroom deputy, only
deputies, juries, court staff, and in-custody defendants being escorted by deputies used the back
jury door. Defense attorneys and defendants who were not in custody never used the jury door.

30. Attorney B similarly explained that after returning to the courtroom, Judge
DUGAN forcefully motioned for Flores-Ruiz’s attorney and a male she did not know (Attorney B
had never met Flores-Ruiz) to approach. Flores-Ruiz’s attorney appeared to be confused by the
judge’s gesture but complied with her directive. Judge DUGAN commanded Flores-Ruiz’s
attorney and the male to leave through a backdoor of the courtroom. Attorney B then saw Judge
DUGAN escort Flores-Ruiz’s attorney and the male through a non-public door near the
courtroom’s jury box. Shortly thereafter, Judge DUGAN came back to the courtroom and
conducted hearings on that morning’s docket. Later that morning, Attorney B realized that Flores-
Ruiz’s case had never been called and asked the court about it. Attorney B learned that Flores-
Ruiz’s case had been adjourned. This happened without Attorney B’s knowledge or participation,
even though Attorney B was present in court to handle Flores-Ruiz’s case on behalf of the state,
and even though victims were present in the courtroom.

31. A Victim Witness Specialist (VWS) employed by the Milwaukee County District
Attorney’s Office was present in Courtroom 615 on April 18, 2025. The VWS made contact with
the victims in Flores-Ruiz’s criminal case, who were also in court. The VWS was able to identify
Flores-Ruiz based upon the victims’ reactions to his presence in court. The VWS observed Judge DUGAN gesture towards Flores-Ruiz and an unknown Hispanic woman. The VWS stated she
believed the Hispanic woman may have been an interpreter. However, based on the VWS’s
description of the woman and other witness statements, I believe the Hispanic woman to which
the VWS referred was Flores-Ruiz’s attorney. The VWS stated that Judge DUGAN then exited
through the jury door with Flores-Ruiz and the Hispanic woman. The VWS was concerned because
Flores-Ruiz’s case had not yet been called, and the victims were waiting.

32. Another attorney (“Attorney C”), who was in Courtroom 615 on April 18, 2025, to
represent a client, also advised case agents that he observed Judge DUGAN forcefully direct two
individuals, a man and a woman, to leave through the jury door. Attorney C indicated that this was
done with a “stern” tone.

who all thinks its cool to do this?

A federal court on Tuesday issued a preliminary injunction forbidding the Border Patrol from conducting warrantless immigration stops throughout a wide swath of California.

The ruling came in response to an American Civil Liberties Union lawsuit filed after the El Centro Border Patrol traveled to Kern County (https://calmatters.org/economy/2025/01/kern-county-immigration-sweep/) to conduct a three-day sweep in January, detaining day laborers, farm workers and others in a Home Depot parking lot, outside a convenience store and along a highway between orchards.

The ruling prohibits Border Patrol agents from taking similar actions, restricting them from stopping people unless they have a reasonable suspicion that the person is in violation of U.S. immigration law (https://calmatters.org/tag/immigration/). It also bars agents from carrying out warrantless arrests unless they have probable cause that the person is likely to escape before a warrant can be obtained.

“You just can’t walk up to people with brown skin and say, ‘Give me your papers,’” U.S. District Court Judge Jennifer L. Thurston said during a Monday hearing in Fresno that featured moments of heated exchange between government attorneys and the judge.

A Palestinian college student has been released on conditions following weeks of detainment by federal agents.
Columbia student Mohsen Mahdawi was released from federal custody on Wednesday morning following a hearing at the federal courthouse in Burlington, Vermont.

Mahdawi will be allowed to keep permanent residency in Vermont and will still be allowed to go to New York City to attend school and graduate from Columbia University. He will also be allowed to meet with his legal team.

Sister station WPTZ was in the courtroom during the hearing. The judge in the case said that he did not believe that Mahdawi posed a risk to the public and also said that he was not a flight risk. The judge went on to say that he has heard from multiple people who know Mahdawi who all said he was peaceful.

The judge compared the recent period of migrants and immigrants being detained to the era of McCarthyism and the infamous "Red Scare," saying that those periods in American history are not ones we should be proud of.

if you don't like a court ruling you don't like, you don't get to ignore it on the theory that it might eventually be held to be unconstititutional

you appeal the ruling

A Florida (https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/tag/florida/) federal judge said she was "surprised and shocked" on Tuesday when Florida Attorney General (https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/tag/attorney-generals/)James Uthmeier sent a letter to local police (https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/tag/police/) saying they didn't need to follow her order pausing a new immigration law.

U.S. District Judge Kathleen Williams issued a temporary restraining order earlier this month against a statute that makes it a misdemeanor for undocumented migrants to enter Florida by evading immigration officials.

"What I am offended by is someone suggesting you don’t have to follow my order, that it’s not legitimate," Williams said.

She told state attorneys that she would issue a preliminary injunction against the law, which was passed in February.

Williams extended her temporary order by 11 days after hearing that about 15 people, one of whom is a U.S. citizen, were arrested.

Williams said in an order on Tuesday night that Uthmeier will have to prove why he shouldn't face legal consequences for his letter. In the letter, he told local police that he couldn't stop them from enforcing misdemeanor penalties against suspects accused of entering Florida as “unauthorized aliens.”

“Even prior to any formal discovery, there is evidence that AG Uthmeier has used his authority to encourage local law enforcement to continue making arrests under a law the Court has, for the time being, found unconstitutional,” Williams said.

Haitian woman dies in US immigration detention

A Haitian woman who was among those held in allegedly inhumane conditions has died after more than 10 weeks in immigration custody.

Marie Ange Blaise, 44, was stopped by federal agents at an airport in Saint Croix, in the Virgin Islands, in mid-February as she prepared to board a flight to Charlotte, North Carolina, according to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

In a statement, ICE said Blaise didn't have a valid immigrant visa, though additional details about her immigration status weren't immediately available.

Abrego Garcia's wife, Jennifer Vasquez Sura, actually had told local police in Maryland about a total of six instances of alleged abuse from 2019-2021, according to court documents filed when Vasquez Sura sought a protective order.

Vasquez Sura alleged that Abrego Garcia kicked, shoved, slapped, verbally abused her, detained her against her will and threatened to kill her in a dispute on Aug. 3, 2020.

Trump loves him some immigrant labor too

Lee Fang might fit in with the (right wing) American Communist Party

It’s true that the number of attempted crossings of the US-Mexico border have plummeted. But, despite the vast numbers of illegal migrants still in the US, Trump's actual deportation record is below (https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/national-security/trump-deported-fewer-people-biden-year-ago-border-crossings-plummeted-rcna195605) that of last year, when the Biden administration sent back more people on a month-to-month basis. Perhaps most significantly, Trump has so far ignored the biggest magnet for those crossing the border without authorization: the many corporations luring migrants with the promise of employment. There is a discrepancy between the White House’s rhetoric and policy, and it raises profound questions about the administration’s true priorities and whom it ultimately serves.

Consider the likeliest destinations of illegal migrants. Those without documentation tend to make up a significant portion of the workforce in construction, slaughterhouses, restaurants, hotels, janitorial work, and gig delivery services. Yet businesses in these industries have reported few significant raids from US Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents. These pillars of the economy are virtually untouched by the supposed crackdown.

What’s more, despite ample laws (https://www.justice.gov/archives/jm/criminal-resource-manual-1908-unlawful-employment-aliens-criminal-penalties) that exist to prosecute employers for knowingly employing or recruiting illegal labor, Fortune 500 American executives have faced no scrutiny. You might expect the largest homebuilder in the country, KB Home, to have been bothered by ICE agents since the change in administration. But Robert McGibney, the company’s president, told investors on a recent call (https://investor.kbhome.com/events-and-presentations/event-details/2025/KB-Home-Q1-2025-Earnings-Conference-Call/default.aspx) that “We’ve seen nothing at all related to immigration.”

Similar quiescence was reported to investors of Taylor Morrison Home, another homebuilder. “We’re happy to report that we haven’t seen anything hit the job site,” said an executive. A counterpart at Tri Pointe Homes reported that the apparent crackdown had resulted in “no impacts at all.”

DHS Sweeps into Action to Protect Child from Tren De Aragua Parents

WASHINGTON – Despite claims from the Venezuelan government that the U.S.

“kidnapped” a child, the truth is DHS took action because both her parents are part of Tren De Aragua.

The child’s father, Maiker Espinoza-Escalona is a lieutenant of Tren De Aragua who oversees homicides, drug sales, kidnappings, extortion, sex trafficking and operates a torture house. The child’s mother, Yorely Escarleth Bernal Inciarte oversees recruitment of young women for drug smuggling and prostitution. These criminal illegal aliens entered the country illegally and had final orders of removal from a judge.

Thanks to President Trump and Secretary Noem, both of these criminal gang members have been removed from our country.

In partnership with the Department of Health and Human Services, the child was taken off the deportation flight manifest for her safety and welfare. The child remains in the care and custody of the Office of Refugee Resettlement and is currently placed with a foster family.

"The Mayor of Newark, Ras Baraka, committed trespass and ignored multiple warnings from Homeland Security Investigations to remove himself from the ICE detention center in Newark, New Jersey this afternoon," U.S. Attorney for New Jersey Alina Habba wrote on social media. "He has willingly chosen to disregard the law. That will not stand in this state. He has been taken into custody. NO ONE IS ABOVE THE LAW."bullshit arrest, tbh

Iraq War Veteran in US for Nearly 30 Years Can Be Deported: Judge

An Arizona resident who has lived in the U.S. legally for decades―and even fought a war for the country―may be deported, after an immigration judge's ruling on Friday.

Iraq War veteran Marlon Parris, who moved to the U.S. from the Caribbean in 1997 and was repeatedly issued Green Cards, was detained in January earlier this year.

The Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency (ICE) had previously ruled the Green Card holder should be allowed to stay in the U.S. despite serving prison time for a drugs offense back in 2011 because the crime was nonviolent.

However, airport officials confiscated his Green Card in 2023 when he returned from a vacation abroad with his wife. Parris was still embroiled in the legal process to have his card returned when he was unexpectedly pulled over in his car by ICE officials in January, who reportedly told him he was "on a list" to be detained and he now faces deportation.

A federal immigration judge has dismissed the case against a New Bedford man whose dramatic detainment by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents was captured on video last month (https://turnto10.com/news/local/video-shows-ice-agents-smashing-window-arresting-man-in-new-bedford-federal-agents-guatemala-detained-no-criminal-record-lawyer-immigration-april-15-2025). Juan Francisco Méndez was taken into custody on April 14 as he sat in a car with his wife in New Bedford.

The now widely-circulated video shows agents using a sledgehammer-like tool to smash the car’s rear passenger window before pulling Méndez out.

At a hearing this week, the case against Méndez was thrown out after Department of Homeland Security (DHS) attorneys failed to present a charging document.

“The judge said, ‘I'm going to deem this a failure to prosecute and the case is closed, dismissed,’” Méndez’s attorney, Ondine Galvez Sniffin, told NBC 10. “That’s it.”

Sniffin said the DHS attorney did not say a single word.

ICE lying its ass off to cover its mistakes

Weeks after federal immigration agents raided an Oklahoma City home and removed a U.S. citizen and her daughters at gunpoint, News 4 has uncovered documents disproving a claim shared by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (https://kfor.com/news/local/were-citizens-oklahoma-city-family-traumatized-after-ice-raids-home-but-they-werent-suspects/?ipid=promo-link-block2)—which suggested the property was still owned by a woman indicted for human smuggling at the time of the raid.

Now, despite the fact records show the suspected human smuggler sold the home well before a federal judge issued the search warrant for it, the U.S. government is trying to seize the home from its new owner.

As News 4 first reported on April 25 (https://kfor.com/news/local/were-citizens-oklahoma-city-family-traumatized-after-ice-raids-home-but-they-werent-suspects/?ipid=promo-link-block2), agents with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (https://kfor.com/news/local/this-family-is-all-of-us-federal-lawmaker-criticizes-oklahoma-ice-raid-homeland-security-responds/) burst into the home with guns drawn, forced a woman, who News 4 is calling Marissa, and her three daughters outside, and taking their phones and money—despite their names not appearing anywhere on the search warrant.

‘Marissa’ and her daughters had just moved into the home from Maryland and had only been living there for a couple of weeks.
Marissa (https://kfor.com/news/local/this-family-is-all-of-us-federal-lawmaker-criticizes-oklahoma-ice-raid-homeland-security-responds/) told News 4 she saw agents from ICE, the FBI and U.S. Marshals present during the raid.
The FBI and U.S. Marshals later denied involvement.

As News 4 has reported since the beginning, the search warrant agents served was validly-issued by a federal judge one day prior to the raid, on April 23.

As News 4 previously reported, the warrant authorized federal agents to enter the home and seize certain items regardless of who was inside, however, it listed 8 specific people as its “targets.”

But none of the eight people were Marissa (https://kfor.com/news/local/were-citizens-oklahoma-city-family-traumatized-after-ice-raids-home-but-they-werent-suspects/), or her daughters, or her husband, or anyone else they knew.

The names on the warrant were ones Marissa said she recognized from mail still arriving at the house.
She told News 4 she assumed they belonged to the previous residents.

As News 4 previously reported, DHS later admitted the home’s previous residents were the actual targets of the raid.
Former Oklahoma Assistant Attorney General Tim Gilpin questioned how much law enforcement knew before executing the search.

“I wonder if the law enforcement agency had the correct information, if they did their duty and responsibility to double check the information, and what was their level of certainty that they had the right house and the right people?” Gilpin said.

In a second press release posted to X, formerly Twitter, the day after the agency admitted Marissa and her family were not the intended targets, DHS defended the raid.

In the release, DHS stated it had surveillance on the home and presented a judge with evidence it was being used as a “stash house” by a human smuggling group. DHS also said one of the eight suspects named in the warrant had paid the home’s utility bill, though the agency would not say when that payment occurred.

DHS said it had “not ruled out current occupants” from its investigation.

DHS issued another press release (https://www.dhs.gov/news/2025/05/01/icymi-ice-targets-major-human-and-drug-smuggling-property-oklahoma-city) a week after News 4’s first report.

The release (https://www.dhs.gov/news/2025/05/01/icymi-ice-targets-major-human-and-drug-smuggling-property-oklahoma-city) included facts News 4 had previously shared: that the raid, based on a lawful court order from a judge, was targeting a suspected human smuggling operation.

However, the release also shared reports from other media outlets, which claimed one of the eight human smuggling suspects named in the search warrant, a woman named Cidia Lima Lopez, still owned the house at the time of the raid on April 24.

DHS cited those reports’ claims as “fact” in its news release.

But News 4 found—that is not true.

Mexican security chief confirms cartel family members entered US in a deal with Trump administration

MEXICO CITY (AP) — Mexico’s security chief confirmed Tuesday that 17 family members of cartel leaders crossed into the U.S. last week as part of a deal between a son of the former head of the Sinaloa Cartel and the Trump administration.

Mexican Security Secretary Omar García Harfuch confirmed a report by independent journalist Luis Chaparro that family members of Ovidio Guzman Lopez, who was extradited to the United States in 2023, had entered the U.S.

Guzmán Lopez is one of the brothers left running a faction of the Sinaloa Cartel after notorious capo Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán was imprisoned in the U.S. Video showed the family members walking across the border from Tijuana with their suitcases to waiting U.S. agents.

ICE Agents Routinely Mask Up When Seizing People—That’s Wrong

...
Leave aside the question of when, if at all, it is proper to prosecute bystanders under these circumstances. Why is it considered acceptable for ICE enforcers to wear masks to hide their identity in the first place? They did so last week, a video shows, when they arrested Newark, NJ Mayor Ras Baraka as he protested at a detention facility. A casual search reveals that ICE agents have worn face coverings, ski masks, and the like in raids and stops reported from around the country (Westminster, MD; Douglas County, CO; Great Barrington, MA; Bellingham, WA). Federal agents wore masks when they abducted Turkish grad student Rümeysa Öztürk off a street near her Boston-area home. (She was freed by a judge last week.) The Trump Department of Homeland Security appears to have made it standard practice.

At what point will we as a nation find ourselves with a secret police?

People who mask themselves before street confrontations ordinarily do so to avoid legal and public accountability, especially when they are up to no good.

You don’t have to take my word on this. In its letter sent to Harvard University on April 11, the Trump administration itself insisted, as part of its demands to toughen student discipline, that “Harvard must implement a comprehensive mask ban with serious and immediate penalties for violation, not less than suspension.” Its rationale was straightforward enough: if student demonstrators can conceal their identity, they might break laws or rules with impunity.

ICE fucks up Nashville night life, nabs mostly law abiding immigrants

At the instruction of managers, restaurant employees without legal citizenship status left the premises at The Diner, Honky Tonk Central and Kid Rock’s Big Ass Honky Tonk Rock N’ Roll Steakhouse during a primetime rush on Saturday night to avoid detention by ICE agents. Locations, already struggling to provide full service, suffered through at least Sunday due to fears from employees who did not want to risk arrest by returning to work.

“We were already understaffed because of the ICE raids throughout the weekend,” an employee, who asked to remain anonymous to avoid retaliation, tells the Scene. "Then, around 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, our manager came back and told anyone without legal status to go home. Events at the Ryman, Ascend, the Savannah Bananas’ baseball game all let out, and it was crazy busy. But there was no one in the kitchen to cook the food.”

Employees do not know if Smith, who could not be reached for comment, was directly consulted. In recent days, many restaurant employees have chosen to call out and stay home with family rather than risk detention in transit. This has prompted managers throughout the city to coordinate transportation for immigrant employees, including at Smith’s downtown locations.

State troopers and unmarked ICE vehicles dramatically increased nightly traffic stops (https://www.nashvillescene.com/news/pithinthewind/nashville-banner-ice-south-nashville/article_9655f790-d04a-42a6-aab3-aacb6cd2e2c3.html) on May 3 in South Nashville, where the joint operation has resulted in at least 196 arrests by ICE agents (https://www.nashvillescene.com/news/pithinthewind/ice-arrests-criminal-activity/article_c29afcc7-48e7-4405-9464-d9a1b26369b5.html). These arrests included 101 individuals with no criminal history, contradicting Trump administration claims that immigration enforcement has been targeted toward violent criminals. Less than half had any recorded criminal history at all; a DHS press release confirmed that four had previously been involved in violent crime.

FBI is not finding migrants by looking for terrorists

FBI is not finding migrants by looking for rapists

FBI is not finding migrants by looking for murderers

FBI field offices around the country have been ordered to assign significantly more agents to immigration enforcement, a dramatic shift in federal law enforcement priorities that will likely siphon resources away from counterterrorism, counterintelligence and fraud investigations, multiple current and former bureau officials told NBC News.
...
The shift in resources spans the country, according to two FBI officials. In a major change, 45% of all agents in the 25 largest FBI field offices will be working on immigration full time.

The bureau’s Atlanta field office will assign 67 agents to work on immigration “enforcement and removal operations” full time, seven days a week, the officials said. That is around half of all the agents assigned to the Atlanta field office headquarters

In Los Angeles, the field office is creating nine squads to address enforcement and removal operations full time. They will pursue noncitizens who have overstayed their visas, even if they have no criminal history.
And the FBI’s Boston field office was ordered to assign an additional 33 special agents to immigration enforcement.
...
Given that FBI resources are finite, current and former officials say, a significant increase in immigration enforcement will draw agents away from what have long been top FBI priorities, including counterterrorism, counterespionage, fraud and violent crime.

CBP hasn't found many drug dealers either...drug seizures from migrants are rare

Of the over 5.8 million migrants stopped by Border Patrol between fiscal years 2022 and 2024, drugs were seized from only 249 people, CBP migrant encounter data showed.

Marijuana accounted for more than half of those 249 drug seizures; just 1 in 53,965 migrants were caught with drugs other than marijuana. To put that into perspective, the odds of dying from a bee sting are 1 in 41,076.

Trumplandia does itself no favors in court by taunting judges who rule against them

Although this ruling is limited to individuals held within the Northern District of Texas, it makes abundantly clear to lower courts (and, insofar as it’s listening, the government), that there aren’t going to be any removals under the AEA until the facial validity and due process questions are answered—almost certainly by the justices after the Fifth Circuit issues its ruling, presumably later this summer. This was, to me, the implicit message of the April 19 intervention; it is all-but explicit now. Indeed, this may be why President Trump, who didn’t really react to the April 19 ruling, lashed out publicly early Friday evening. The AEA as a basis for removal is dead—at least for the time being, and until the Supreme Court specifically says otherwise.https://www.stevevladeck.com/p/151-the-supreme-courts-alien-enemies

I continue to be fascinated by the eroding “presumption of regularity (https://www.stevevladeck.com/p/141-abrego-garcia-and-the-presumption),” and where it is (and isn’t) showing up in Supreme Court decisions in Trump-related cases. That erosion shows up in A.A.R.P. II in spades. Indeed, although the majority never quite brings itself to say the quiet part out loud, the point animating most of its disagreement with the dissent is its unwillingness to rest its analysis on the government’s representations rather than on the plaintiffs’ allegations. We’ll see if this skepticism remains limited to the removal context, or whether it starts showing up in other rulings in Trump-related cases. But it’s clearly the elephant in the room here.

While technically only addressing the Northern District of Texas, the Supreme Court’s decision to grant an injunction here throughout the remainder of the litigation will likely have a ripple effect nationwide. Additionally, the decisions that the government’s current AEA notice is insufficient and that one of DOJ’s key arguments against class certification is rejected are now nationwide precedent that we will quickly see in filings across the nation.https://www.lawdork.com/p/scotus-aea-ndtexas-injunction

The Reagan amnesty doesn't get much run here, for some reason

In a speech I gave 25 years ago, I told a story that I think bears repeating. Two friends of mine were talking to a refugee from Communist Cuba. He had escaped from Castro, and as he told the story of his horrible experiences, one of my friends turned to the other and said, ``We don't know how lucky we are.'' And the Cuban stopped and said, ``How lucky you are? I had someplace to escape to.''

Well, no, America's freedom does not belong to just one nation. We're custodians of freedom for the world. In Philadelphia, two centuries ago, James Allen wrote in his diary that ``If we fail, liberty no longer continues an inhabitant of this globe.'' Well, we didn't fail. And still, we must not fail. For freedom is not the property of one generation; it's the obligation of this and every generation. It's our duty to protect it and expand it and pass it undiminished to those still unborn.

Now, tomorrow is a special day for me. I'm going to receive my gold watch. And since this is the last speech that I will give as President, I think it's fitting to leave one final thought, an observation about a country which I love. It was stated best in a letter I received not long ago. A man wrote me and said: ``You can go to live in France, but you cannot become a Frenchman. You can go to live in Germany or Turkey or Japan, but you cannot become a German, a Turk, or a Japanese. But anyone, from any corner of the Earth, can come to live in America and become an American.''

Yes, the torch of Lady Liberty symbolizes our freedom and represents our heritage, the compact with our parents, our grandparents, and our ancestors. It is that lady who gives us our great and special place in the world. For it's the great life force of each generation of new Americans that guarantees that America's triumph shall continue unsurpassed into the next century and beyond. Other countries may seek to compete with us; but in one vital area, as a beacon of freedom and opportunity that draws the people of the world, no country on Earth comes close.

This, I believe, is one of the most important sources of America's greatness. We lead the world because, unique among nations, we draw our people -- our strength -- from every country and every corner of the world. And by doing so we continuously renew and enrich our nation. While other countries cling to the stale past, here in America we breathe life into dreams. We create the future, and the world follows us into tomorrow. Thanks to each wave of new arrivals to this land of opportunity, we're a nation forever young, forever bursting with energy and new ideas, and always on the cutting edge, always leading the world to the next frontier. This quality is vital to our future as a nation. If we ever closed the door to new Americans, our leadership in the world would soon be lost.

A number of years ago, an American student traveling in Europe took an East German ship across the Baltic Sea. One of the ship's crewmembers from East Germany, a man in his sixties, struck up a conversation with the American student. After a while the student asked the man how he had learned such good English. And the man explained that he had once lived in America. He said that for over a year he had worked as a farmer in Oklahoma and California, that he had planted tomatoes and picked ripe melons. It was, the man said, the happiest time of his life. Well, the student, who had seen the awful conditions behind the Iron Curtain, blurted out the question, ``Well, why did you ever leave?'' ``I had to,'' he said, ``the war ended.'' The man had been in America as a German prisoner of war.

Now, I don't tell this story to make the case for former POW's. Instead, I tell this story just to remind you of the magical, intoxicating power of America. We may sometimes forget it, but others do not. Even a man from a country at war with the United States, while held here as a prisoner, could fall in love with us. Those who become American citizens love this country even more. And that's why the Statue of Liberty lifts her lamp to welcome them to the golden door.

It is bold men and women, yearning for freedom and opportunity, who leave their homelands and come to a new country to start their lives over. They believe in the American dream. And over and over, they make it come true for themselves, for their children, and for others. They give more than they receive. They labor and succeed. And often they are entrepreneurs. But their greatest contribution is more than economic, because they understand in a special way how glorious it is to be an American. They renew our pride and gratitude in the United States of America, the greatest, freest nation in the world -- the last, best hope of man on Earth.

Alito is lazy, or he cherry-picked the source

Either makes sense, he seems to work backwards from desired results to relevant portions of law that back it up

What a hack

Wanna see something incredibly ... bad?

Here's Alito quoting a source to suggest that you can't do habeas class actions:

But here's the next sentence of the source, saying ... that you can do habeas class actions:

"going after the criminals"

An international student in South Dakota, who earned two degrees amid her fight against the Trump administration’s attempt to deport her, has been granted injunction.
Priya Saxena, who’s from India, received a doctorate in chemical and biological engineering and a master’s in chemical engineering from South Dakota School of Mines & Technology this past weekend. Just over a month ago, Saxena had been notified that her visa and status in the country had been revoked.

Saxena’s attorney, Jim Leach, told NBC News that her sole infraction was for a failure-to-yield to an emergency vehicle from four years ago, which he described as “the lowest possible traffic offense.”

Saxena, who sued the Trump administration, was granted a temporary restraining order until the end of this week, allowing her to collect her degrees. And on Thursday morning, she was granted a preliminary injunction that keeps the government from attempting to detain or deport her.

“The rule of law saved an innocent person from unlawful action by this administration,” Leach said. “Dr. Saxena is exactly the kind of person we should want in this country.”

“The government sent these letters, no matter what the conviction was, even for a traffic conviction,” Leach said of Saxena’s visa and status revocations. “I’ve had more traffic convictions since then than she has.”

The Department of Homeland Security did not immediately respond to NBC News’ request for comment.

Saxena had been in the country on a student visa that wasn’t set to expire until 2027. But on April 7, she received an email from the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi, notifying her that her visa had been revoked, according to court documents.

She was later told by a school official that her record had been terminated in the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS), which maintains information about nonimmigrant students and exchange visitors.

While Saxena received the traffic infraction in 2021, she paid a fine and, upon applying for her most recent visa, disclosed the information to the government, the court documents said.
“The government reissued her visa and then comes back three and a half years later and says, ‘Oh, wait a minute. Get out of the country now,’” Leach said. “It just makes no sense.”

Miguel wrote in a Facebook post Friday that his mother, who has six children, was detained during her annual appointment to renew the work permit she has held for over a decade.

“During each follow-up, they never detained her or raised any concerns until now,” he said, adding that the change seems related to policies of the Trump administration. “They are tearing families apart."

US judge charged for allegedly helping man evade immigration officials

A judge in the US state of Wisconsin has been charged for allegedly helping a Mexican man evade immigration officials through a back door during an arrest attempt.

Milwaukee County Circuit Judge Hannah Dugan was arrested in April. Now a federal grand jury has approved the two charges against her, which could see the judge face a prison term.

How would you solve it?A clear path to legal residency, more intake capacity and immigration judges to sort out the claims quickly -- which would necessarily entail an efficient mode of deportation.

To that end -- because we have due process in the US -- more clerks and judges would definitely seem called for,

According to litigators, ICE just put a dozen men on a flight (which may have already taken off) to SOUTH SUDAN, a country on the brink of civil war, in direct defiance of a court order requiring ICE to give people an opportunity to raise objections before being sent to a country not their own.

Winehole23

The men reportedly being sent to South Sudan include at least two of the men the administration previously tried to send to Libya.

If it's the same dozen men (https://bsky.app/profile/reichlinmelnick.bsky.social/post/3lpmujssitk2j), it includes people from Laos, Vietnam, Myanmar, Mali, Burundi, Cuba, Bolivia, Mexico and the Philippines. None are from South Sudan.https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2025-05-15/l-a-vietnamese-immigrant-among-those-told-he-would-be-deported-to-libya-lawyer
