Racing online in the original Forza was one of the reasons I joined Live.

Hopefully they let you "hide" your mods from other racers, so they can't just copy and paste your settings on their cars.

It's the spring update - it includes the new blade, auto shut down (though my Elite already had that,) low powered download mode, displaying game on the play game button, new achievement notification (tells you which achievement you unlocked,) Windows Messenger Live is now there (they will be selling the thumb keyboard this summer.)

i liked the unrealistic rocket and strafe jumping, but then again, as far as FPS' go, i was weaned on wolfenstein, duke nukem, and quake. i never really cared for the more realistic games outside of SoF2 - that game was less realistic than some of them and i enjoyed it more. plus you could carve up bodies and stuff.

I admit it looks good. I'm still curious how the sales figures will be impacted by the fact that the game lacks some kind of career/dynasty mode. Otherwise I'm all over it. It'll be nice to play something different. Hopefully it lights a fire under the asses of EA to make some positive changes.

Forza 2 blows my mind. Well the people who paint freakin' intricate images on their cars with nothing but basic and some not basic shapes, gradients and colors, blow my mind. I can hardly believe it. I had a hard time even taking in what I was seeing. You can't upload pictures so everything is done by layering shapes and adding color.

Those Forza design are sick! I screwed around with the customizations for giggles, but I could not even imagine the time these individuals put into making those designs.

They seriously have talent. I dont think its that far of a reach to assume they were all accomplished graphic artists.

The recruiting mode is supposed to be completely re-done. Instead of 5 areas to recruit/make a pitch to potential players, there are now in excess of 15 areas to make pitches to recruits. I am REALLY looking forward to this game!

I have Forza that I haven't even broken through the first tournaments left, FEAR which I haven't finished the first level, I barely finished my first season on NBA2K7(I don't simulate any games, so forgive me). I played FEAR on the PC and I tried the XBOX version, it plays the same. The game will creep you the fuck out, especially at night. Gameplay wise, it's a very solid FPS. I give it like a 9/10.I concur. It takes a lot to scare me and I had to play this game during the day. That one part where you're going up the ladder and that girl is standing right where you get off on the floor you're climbing to. That probably didn't make sense, but if you played it, you'd know what I'm talking about.

I didn't get it at launch, because I was afraid of the all the kids games Nintendo pushes on their consoles. But damn, those kiddie games got addictive quick. Another weird thing is, at least in this first game, is that the computer isn't restricted to 2 gold, 3 silver, and 7 bronze players like you are and in this 1st game the CPU had 4 golds. Another thing is that there's 240+ players, yet i don't know who 200 of them are yet they're legends? Also, there are way too many QBs and very few defensive players, there might be more QBs in the game then defensive players which is stupid but not as stupid as having rae curruth, OJ and kory stringer in the game.

Stringer may have not died that recently(6 years ago?) but he died playing football, which makes it awkward picking him to play on my team, but Rae Curruth and OJ? they're fucking murderers!! what are they doing in this game??? Maybe OJ maybe, but no way should Rae Curruth be in this game.

MS customer support sucks ass. After an automated voice tries to tell you some simple solutions that may be the problem ( unplug it, remove the hard drive and wait a minute) prepare to be on hold for about 45 minutes. :wakeup

I guess when you think about it, there had to have been some guys who chose not to license their name to APF, so they had to get who they could and went with people who you'd know (whether for football ability or capital crimes).

To me, it's a good football game. If you're just looking to play a game without the fluff, APF's a good choice. What I noticed about the extra star players my opponents have had so far (I've played four games) are that they tend to be like every opponent in every off-brand football game in the last 20 years - built on one or two strengths with little care towards the others.

When I chose my team, I went with a balanced patch of stars. I'm not going to fire up my 360 right now to check, but I think the only position I went with more than one star at was LB.

To beat each opponent, you will have to use different playcalls and stars. One game, I opened up my passing attack (Joe Montana) and I was able to get a lot of good catches and route running from two WRs that I'd never heard of (or might have barely). In the next game, I ran like nuts with Walter Payton.

Like I said, though, I think it's point this year is a new edition of the 2K series that's a good football game to play. Hell, I loved firing it up and hearing Dan Stevens and Peter O'Keefe calling the game. I love those guys. This game gives those upset at EA Sports and their development of the Madden series a new game to call their own - especially with customization of jerseys, etc. - while 2K Sports finds a way to tweak their game for next season.

I think it'd probably do better if its MSRP was $10 less, though.

Another thing I will give to APF, the AI is great. It's tough to keep running the same plays without the AI catching up to it and they don't make many mistakes. The first three games I played were tight all the way through until I won with under a minute (the last game was a blowout victory, though). I also give credit to the animations and environment interaction. Even at the full camera (all the players lined up), you can see rain drops reacting as they hit helmets. Nice touch.

APF feels a little weird at first, and the graphics don't look so great, but you'll get used to it. It's a lot more challenging than playing the exact same NCAA and Madden games every single year (INT-fests, robotic looking players, horrible atmosphere, horrible online, etc...). So far in APF, i've experienced none of that. You actually have to choose your next play wisely and it's very rewarding getting an INT, or even breaking a good run.

APF was just not my cup of tea i guess, i played through a season and just didn't get what was so great about the gameplay. Overall the game pace was WAY to slow, i was actually bored at times waiting for the offense to pick a play.

But 2 things killed the game for me, the kicking game. What retard came up with this? I lost a couple games on missed extra points WTF? and kicking many kickoffs out of bounds. There's no meter and the game doesn't tell you what you're doing wrong so i had no idea what i was supposed to do. It reminded me of the free throw mechanic from NBA live 07 where you pull the right stick back and then push to forward, it's awkward and stupid.

The worst thing though was watching barry sanders do the dirty bird, what. the. fuck?

Nice...RE4 is so much better on the Wii, the motion control almost makes it too easy, breeze through chapters with 85% hit rate. Nothing good for the Wii is coming soon, not suprisingly all the good stuff coming up (ssb, mario, metroid) are all 1st party titles.

^For those that are interested in NCAA 08, picked up my copy last Tuesday and have already played one full season on dynasty mode and recently began my second season.

The game runs at 60fps, and the graphics/animations are top notch. Gameplay is very smooth and there are some really well done gang tackling animations as well as actions while running/catching the ball.

Recruiting mode is insane! Very deep with more features than any previous titles. And you've really got to think about who you want to spend time on recruiting during both in-season and off-season recruiting. Hell, I spent almost 3 hours during the off-season just recruiting and putting together my class of 18 players. It's also much more realistic, no longer can I go out and get 8-9 five star players just because I'm playing with UT, you've got to earn those 5 star guys, very rewarding when you get them.

My only major gripe with the game is the passing game. You'll definitely have to turn down the AI slider for pass interceptions and knockdowns, if not you'll be getting picked right and left, also much harder to complete deep routes. To get those you usually have to pump fake and then go deep (provided your O line can sustain protection).

Overall, the best NCAA game I've played so far, very addictive and fun to play. I guess I'd give it about a 8.8 or 8.9 on a scale of 10. Still some tweaks they can make for next year's version. :fro

^Agree, but once you turn down the sliders for the Al on knockdowns and int's it becomes ok to deal with. You still have to watch your passing lanes, but it's more realistic in terms of making throws and completing passes.

Youre right, RE4was exclusive to GameCube for quite some time. It was later (much later) added to the Wii collection using the unique controls of the Wii (which I hear was a marked improvement). Now its available on everything (i have it PS2).

RE4 absolutely rocks. From the very beginning to the bitter end, the game delivers in spades every step of the way. Its a completely new story and not so much about "zombies" as it were. More a sickness (the enemies still are completely lacking anything resembling an IQ).

You just have to buy it. Dont rent, buy it. Youll play it 3x in a row, set it down for 3 months, and play it another 3x thru.

I have been playing the Xbox 360 demo like crazy and when my brother comes over that's what we play a freakin demo over and over, I need to buy it.

I have a Xbox 360, Wii and a PS3 and the past 2 weeks I have been playing Bomber man on the Xbox 360 online, On my ps3 been playing Wipeout and Destruction Derby, Both PSone game I downloaded from there store and on my Wii I been play Sonic 2 with my little girl she loves using Tails. How so? I know most 32-bit UNIX/Linux can't work with more than 2GB (= 2^31 bytes) due to using signed (32-bit) integers for offsets. At least you can go in and recompile the OS with a larger off_t type and compile the kernel with high memory support to get around that. I thought Windows added high memory support with 2000.

Haven't read a post in this thread yet but I thought Vista could recognize 8gb or some shit? I quit reading hardforum.com once I built my pc, about 6 months ago.

I will get Vista once DX10 drops but until then I'd rather continue to game than look at pretty desktop eye candy.

Pick up Wii Play, it comes with an extra controller. It's no Wii Sports, but its alright for the value. The Bigs is supposed to be kick ass with the motion control. It's like Wii Sports Baseball for the older kids.

I know exactly how you feel, last years version had to be the shittiest game of Madden I've ever played, I used to not be able to put the game down for months and months, I played 07 for about five games and sold it on ebay. The worst thing was the commentator and I really couldn't stand the game, even though about buying APF this year but decided to hold out when I saw the great reviews Madden has been getting. Man you guys are fortunate. The only games I can play without feeling like I'm about to have a seizure is Madden and pretty much any sports game. Good for me that I really like playing sports games. But it sucks when I hear you guys talking about the other cool role playing games that sound fun as hell that if I tried to play them would more than likely cause me to pass out instantly upon standing up. The only good thing for me is that I can probably save a boatloads of money because I sure as heck would have a crap load of them. I dn't know I used to be all good up until I was 19, I don't know what the heck happened. I sometimes try and play them, unfortunatley with the same light-headed feeling just after a few minutes. I did force myself to finish Max Payne for the original X-Box only to feel like I had guzzled down an entire keg.

in madden 07 i appreciated the adjustments they made with the defensive play. makin it extremely easy to adjust your line, lb and corners to adjust to the offensive sets. and i love how the did away with the squid kick. i hated the squid quick. madden 07 was awesome and if ncaa 08 is any indication Madden 08 will be Superbad in 3 hrs and 48 mins

Bioshock demo was pretty damn cool, I like how you can inject yourself and re-write your DNA. Anyone play the Stranglehold demo.....if your a Max Payne fan I suggest this one, its freakin fun.

No glitches, no loading problems.

I was pretty tired during my second game yesterday, so I barely remember finishing the game. Anyway, I passed by the Gamestop nearest my house and there were about 10 people in the store at the time. I asked if they'd have extra copies to sell and they had a ton.

By the time midnight struck, there were about 40-50 people in the store, but I ended up being the first to buy the game w/o a reserve (only the guy who gave the clerk his paid off ticket walked out before me).

I hear that Madden on 360 is finally done right, but the big glitch is fumbling. I'm pickin it up later today but I'm wondering if anyone can confirm this shit about the fumbles? One review said to expect close to double digit fumble totals for both teams in a typical game.

If that's true then I may pass on it. There is no single thing that pisses me off on Madden more than a fumble.
