I'm getting used to the joystick now and the realtime play. It sucks that I can't play the other games on here. For a while 2k had me feeling kinda bowling bally too. But I said the heck with that, I'm just going to fight thru it screw it!!

Crysis demo hit the net this weekend. OMFG!! Awesome, awesome game. Took a while to get the settings right (it was bringing my new system to its knees at 1920x1200 all settings at very high), but its badass.

Well, we do have a small flat screen for our son to play games on while we watch TV on the big set. We tried the PIP thing, but it was too distracting for both parties.

The most we've done is have the 360 on the flatscreen we have installed outside. That's our GH3 setup(more space). Then we have our son and his friends playing Wii on the huge TV in the living room. I'll have to figure out where the PS3 will go eventually.

There is also a file there with all of the classic rosters from previous championship teams. Taking a classic team or a bunch of classic teams into association could be loads of fun

You download roster from someone online. Upload it into the program and insert the memory pack into the docking station and transfer the info to the memory pack. Then from the memory pack onto the hard drive of the 360.

Or if you have a game saved or roster saved you can put it onto your CPU to retrieve later. This also doubles as a memory back up. I got mine at Circuit City for about 10 bucks. Memory pack I got used for 30 bucks. This works with any file so all the roster nuts out there can have up to date rosters that are far better and more complete than the XBOX Live updates. MLB, NBA, NFL, Hockey if it still exists.

Buyer Beware though. This thing is a bitch to get going and it doesn't work on most computers, no one knows why and the customer service is non-exsistant.

If someone here can get it to work I'll mail them my memory pack because I've tried three computers with no luck.

Nope because tons of people have the same issue as me. There is a 50 something page thread of nothing but people with issues with it. Final concensus was that it simply will work with some computers and won't work with others. Made by Datel and they have zero customer service, I emailed, called, everything and no response. I actually left work early yesterday to buy all this stuff to get the opening day rosters for 2K8 since I saw it ready and posted over there, I was all excited and bam I spend three hours fucking with it and got nowhere. Then I tried all the computers here at work and nothing here either. I'm going to have to find someone thats got it going so I can ship them my memory pack and they can put the rosters on there for me. Disappointing to say the least.

Thats a great idea. I have everything we need but I'm simply not sure if its my computers and the software not agreeing or if its a shit memory pack or shit transfer kit. We might need a fresh start. I think I may just return the memory pack for now. I can mail you the transfer kit if you want to see you can get it going on your CPU. We just someones memory pack to test out and try.

it was a bit grating at first when he was complaining. i am still getting used to voip in games. my q3 and q3 clan rarely used it - we would just have a coach on it directing stuff. we mostly just used team talk scripts.

I picked up the 64 memory pack and it worked like a charm. Loaded the roster on my memory pack and then transfered it to the hard drive of the 360 and all is well.

So stick with the Datel Transfer Kit and a 64 memory pack and you'll be in business. The rosters and player models look good. Up next I'll be checking out the classic rosters.

I found them at Circuit City for 10 bucks. Then I returned my 512 memory pack for a 64 pack. I was out 40 bucks total and well worth it. I made a few changes to the rosters once I got it loaded but that thread actually mentions the changes Beno to the Kings, Howard to Dallas and so forth. I did not find the Transfer Kit at Best Buy or any of the gamestops. Check Circuit City first. I live in Corpus but if you can't find it I'll mail it to you just get a memory pack.

Unfortunately repetitive. AC actually gets compared to Hitman in the sense that it is very cool to stealth kill and do all the neceassary extra junk to set up the hit.

But its always easier to go guns blazing and kill everything with a heartbeat.

I have played video games since I can remember. I have found my tastes have changed completely (obvious, I know). I get more enjoyment from games that create worlds. Enviroments that are more like a novel than a set piece. A living, breathing populace of ancient time and all the work the devs had to pour into just that ONE facet of the game. The cracks in the walls, the nooks in the corners, the beautiful sunrise and sunset, for me now, thats what makes a game worth it.

AC is exceptional in that respect. Ever want to walk the streets of Ancient Jerusalem? This is your best chance, sans a time machine. The fluid motion of every movement of your character and the characters around you.

The verticality of the city(s) you roam. The "free-running" as it is coined, is awesome and completely enjoyable in and of itself.

There are flaws, but I have resigned to the fact there is no such thing as a perfect game. The closest I have ever known was GTA: San Andreas. And even that was fatally flawed.

I want games with total and utter freedom, consequences that result of that freedom and the enviroment to enjoy both aspects.

AC delivers on two of those. The 3rd (consequences) hasnt been done in any game ever in my life with anything nearing what I would call success. But, there is hope. At the very least, game devs are aspiring to achieve some level of consequence as it seems to be a selling point in a lot of games (none of them have delivered, none will for quite some time).

I know this thread is 70+ pages long, but we discussed Oblivion at length earlier. Love that game. But it still didnt have consequence from actions.

Oblivion is a good example of a game that could have done it. With all the freedom it does have, there was some real opportunity to do some innovative things. But I understand the plot and structure becomes very difficult to execute when there are literally hundreds (maybe thousands) of different ways the player can get thru the game.

In Oblivion, you were/are a world changer. Single-handedly closing the Gates of Oblivion is a pretty big fucking deal in that game's world. Unfortunately, technology hasnt caught up to imagination....yet.

5 years ago, hardware outpaced software by a very wide margin. The baddest-ass PCs werent even being tested in the slightest by the current gen games and software.

Now, the software is closing the gap. Crysis being the new benchmark of "Holy shit, my rig fucking blows. Time for an upgrade."

At some point, I believe, the industry will reach a maximum on the GFX orgy its been in for...10 years. Games dont look much better than Crysis, its near photorealistic if you have the machine to push it.

I think once that time comes, when its obvious to all developers that the "arms race", so to speak, doesnt revolve around whose bouncing, busty babe looks better in HD, they'll return to the core of earlier gaming days.

The days when the hardware was really, really limited. So you had to focus on gameplay and execution. Games like Actraiser, Ultima, the early Final Fantasies, Dragon Quest, System Shock, Doom II, etc.

There will be an acceptable Engine (or maybe a few Engines) that is/are malleable and scalable to any design and genre. The mechanics will greatly differ, but the presentation capability and hardware needed to do so will be the same.

Will it be id with their Unreal Engine? Or Valve and the upcoming new Source Engine? A newcomer like Crytek? Who knows, but it will happen in the next 5 years, IMO.

The development time for Crysis is an indicator of the flawed design process in video games. It took Crytek something like 6 years to develop the game, 4-5 of which were spent purely on Engine creation and optimization. Only 1-2 years were actually spent on the gameplay, the story, the mechanics and design. They make something look beautiful, then backfill it with content.

Should be the other way around, or a completely different approach where the Engine is prefab and the devs concentrate on "The Game".

I understand why it is the way it is. Its an arms race....for now. Games are bought and sold (majority speaking) on its merits in the graphics department. Gameplay takes a serious backseat in most every game produced (you know what I mean, BioShock, Oblivion, et all are exceptions...1000s of games are released a year...how many of them did you buy?).

The gaming audience is only getting older. And it will progressively get older and older and older. I have been gaming my whole life (Im 27) and my tastes have changed incredibly. I assume I am not the only one and the devs are starting to realize this slowly.

Thats why games are aspiring to be "experinces" rather than "toys". Its media entertainment, and at some point it will be as varied and wide-ranging as movies and music. The technology for recording music and filming movies hasnt changed in years (with some notable, avant garde excpetions, obviously). Film is film, tape is tape. Not so with video games as of yet.

But soon, I think. Sure, the Engines I speak of will evolve with new standards and benchmarks ultimately becoming more and more capable of near-reality resolution, but ultimately, that task will be left to the Engine's creators. Using the Engine will be the work of the devs.

At that point, games will become much more than what they are. Music and movies have always had something that games still do not. The human element. But at what point does that line get blurred, with movies like Final Fantasy: Spirits Within and the new one Beowulf? I personally enjoys the FF movie, obviously havent seen Beowulf. But this is just the beginning. Those capabilities will become less fiction and more reality in 10 years.

Can you imagine what gaming is going to look like in 20 years? I certainly cant. I remember playing my Atari 2600 during a session of Mountain King and thinking "It doesnt get any cooler than this." So, do I now play Crysis and think "Wow, this is the penultimate gaming benchmark!" No, I dont. Its the current benchmark, soon to be eclipsed by something even better.

I await that day more than today.

Regardless, what I was trying to say was, CoD4 is the ultimate right now. The replayability of CoD4 is limitless, whereas AC is more or less static, and if it does have a MP component, it will feel tacked on as an afterthought.

Whereas CoD4 was developed with one thing and one thing only on the devs mind...multiplayer gaming. Sure, the single player campaign is something to behold (so I hear), but the MP is where this game will shine, shine, shine.

Thats why I asked, do you frequently play online games? Do you like FPS games?

If so, and your money is limited to one game and one game only, there isnt much debate which you should get. CoD4 multiplayer will entertain you for years, whereas AC is maximum a couple months (thats being generous).

So that means you can do a rendition of Animal from the Muppet Show and rack up points like crazy and still pull it off as long as you hit the hi hat at the right moment at the end of the solo.

The new guitar takes a little getting used to, but the effects swich and solo fret buttons make it great. During certain songs, a solo is triggered, you rack up bonus points by hitting every note. And with the solo buttons lower on the neck, not having to strum during some of those crazy solos make it alot easier.

The singing is cool, I only tried one song, "Fortunate Son". I left the singing to my sister, who seemed to have a blast even though she didn't know some of the words.

It's worth every penny of the $140.

It highlights every color of the drums on screen, so you can play whatever you want, go crazy or keep the beat, 1 single green note will pop up and if you hit that, you get the bonus for the freestyle you just did, if you don't hit it, you lose the bonus points, but continue the song. It's hard to describe, hopefully I didn't confuse you.

I thought for the price of the bundle, each instrument would be cheaply made, not at all. The drums are pretty sturdy even the thick plastic kick pedal looks like it'll take a beating. The guitar like I said takes some getting used to if you're coming over from Guitar Hero, but it looks nice. Since the fret buttons are flush, unlike GH where the buttons are raised up, it's takes some practice to remember what buttons your fingers are currently resting on.

This has to be the best party game ever made. Not only were the people playing having fun, the other 6 people watching were laughing, singing along, recording, etc.

"One" is the song I can't wait for, even though it's on GH3. ME rocks. Im thoroughly enjoying it so far. Im a bit of a completionist though, I must complete every side quest before I move the main storyline along.

I just landed on Feros, yet have every Citadel mission done and every available side mission between all known galaxies and clusters completed as well.

Like I said, completionist.

Side note: This thread used to be awesome, but I find it less and less about video games and more about scheduling to play each other online. Dont get me wrong, thats totally cool, but we may need another thread soon.

I think its cool that some of you hook-down online to play regularly, and I mean this as nicely as possible....I dont enjoy reading you scheduling it for 3 pages or commenting the last game you played or whatever.

I wasnt there and its just filler to me as I scroll down scanning for something new about a new game.

Another side note: my basement is scheduled to be done this weekend. My PC will finally be back in action. I hope to complete Mass Effect in time to play CoD4 and Crysis endlessly afterword.

ME rocks. Im thoroughly enjoying it so far. Im a bit of a completionist though, I must complete every side quest before I move the main storyline along.

I just landed on Feros, yet have every Citadel mission done and every available side mission between all known galaxies and clusters completed as well.

Like I said, completionist.

Side note: This thread used to be awesome, but I find it less and less about video games and more about scheduling to play each other online. Dont get me wrong, thats totally cool, but we may need another thread soon.

That'd be why we need a seperate forum though. I'm enjoying ME, but CoD4 MP is taking up a lot of time ... argh!

There were only three side missions I didn't finish and two were because I couldn't access the elevator after defeating the Thorian on Feros.

I found out the hard way; do all the side missions before going into the tunnels under Zhu's Hope.

I could've easily just named the thread Xbox 360, but I didn't want to discriminate. The PC talk and scheduling is kinda boring, but you don't have to read it. If you need to know about a specific game and can't be patient to read throught the thread, then like said above, go to a reviews site.

P.S.: it does get annoying when someone brings up a console FPS and all we hear from certain posters is how better PC's are with FPS's. We get it, move on.

dude just like i told an old head i worked with the other day who plays WoW I told him i dont have a problem with PC games....but hooking it up to a 52in just isnt worth it, and then to play against other people on 2k or madden or any other game just wouldnt be the same....just take it as a majority or people that play sports games play on consoles....i mean i dont recall a madden tourney going down on PC....unless its in your house....dude when you guys were talking about video cards and how they helped or didnt help your game i didnt say shit...cause i didnt care, just like i dont care about talking about linking up in your in your PC games either i just read it and move on....who ever started bitching should just make another thread for PC games or what not.
