dude just like i told an old head i worked with the other day who plays WoW I told him i dont have a problem with PC games....but hooking it up to a 52in just isnt worth it, and then to play against other people on 2k or madden or any other game just wouldnt be the same....just take it as a majority or people that play sports games play on consoles....i mean i dont recall a madden tourney going down on PC....unless its in your house....dude when you guys were talking about video cards and how they helped or didnt help your game i didnt say shit...cause i didnt care, just like i dont care about talking about linking up in your in your PC games either i just read it and move on....who ever started bitching should just make another thread for PC games or what not. I dont care if this turns into the quatro thread im still going to try to set shit up if people want that...PC gamers being fags was not meant literally unless I truly stuck a nerve that he didnt hit last night....and for that I apologize

:lmao

Meltdown, aisle 2. Paging meltdown.

Btw, thanks for adhering strictly to the stereotype of the console-junkie. It makes you so much easier to categorize.

If you guys would just keep the number of posts down a bit, it might help a lot. There are PMs available on this board as well.

Here we go.......

I could've easily just named the thread Xbox 360, but I didn't want to discriminate. The PC talk and scheduling is kinda boring, but you don't have to read it. If you need to know about a specific game and can't be patient to read throught the thread, then like said above, go to a reviews site.

Fair enough. But I dont particularly remember having a hardware discussion. I am NOT saying it didint happen, I just seriously dont remember.

Regardless, my point wasnt to discriminate or create problems. But this online scheduling will go on for pages on end with 1 sentence dedicated to time.

You named the thread Videogames, which is all encompassing. I play both console and PC a helluva lot. I am admittedly more prone to PC for various reasons but you dont see me jumping down someones throat about their console favoritism.

What the fuck am I? 14....this is worthless to even discuss, I just realized that. nuff said.

P.S.: it does get annoying when someone brings up a console FPS and all we hear from certain posters is how better PC's are with FPS's. We get it, move on.

Fair. But at least its a discussion about the game, not a schedule for playing the game for 2 pages.

Fair. But at least its a discussion about the game, not a schedule for playing the game for 2 pages.

I'm sure there are people who are console fanboys and some that are PC guys. Then there are people who don't give a fuck, like me. The scheduling does take up space, but until a rule is agreed upon how to get a league/tourney together it'll continue.

It would be better, if one person would post a tentative time for a specific game and then people could respond by PM. Is that a good idea?

As far as the fighting goes, :dramaquee , play games, not consoles. I particulary don't like playing games on PC, too many updates, drivers, settings to mess with. I prefer just dropping a disc in the tray and playing.

If I seem inferior to you because of that, fine, but you don't have to regurgitate the same response whenever someone has the same opinion as I do.

We get it, you like pointing and clicking, we like using a controller. Neither is anywhere close to actually shooting a gun. We're both playing a fucking game.

I like using both, actually, but for different things. I wouldn't use a controller to play an FPS on and I would NEVER use a keyboard and mouse for a fighting or a sports game.

How do you figure? Tapping a space bar and clicking on a mouse button is pretty close to firing a gun?

I'd much rather use that gun controller for a shooting game, if linked to a nunchuck for the wii instead of the standard 360 pad, it'd be awesome for a FPS.

i remember the first time i typed +mouselook into the quake 1 console. never looked back. goldeneye had the best console fps controls imo, but the freedom just isn't there. also in addition to what DarkReign said, you can assign other keys to whatever - even specific weapons without scrolling through, which can be incredibly useful, like rocketing someone up in tf2 and shotgunning them in midair.

What? When have I ever "looked down" on someone for their gaming tastes? I never said someone is inferior because of their fucking video game preference....

So I make the M+K > Gamepad remark. Big whoop. I am not guessing or making that up, its just true. Theres a reason they havent made a cross-platform game that allows both console and PC players on the same server. It just wouldnt be fair.

But I dont care if peeps want to play CoD4 on the 360. Its their money, their choice. I said that repeatedly as a semi-joke. Not a very funny one, I knew/know that. But a joke nonetheless.

If it makes everyone feel better, I am so out of practice in any FPS, I'd probably get owned by everyone here. I prefer strategy games and RTSs. Both of which do not exist on the console market (outside of Battle for Middle Earth). Dawn of War, Rome: Total War, Civ 4 BtS, Company of Heroes. Also like RPGs and extremely enjoying Mass Effect right now.

Wow, I guess it IS all about your own taste, because I couldn't see myself dealing with that kind of control scheme. I guess I just like to get away from the mouse and keyboard when I'm not at work. It seems like running and jumping while shooting would be a chore, at least if you're running at an angle. Because wouldn't you have to press W,A, space and move the mouse and click?

well you would orient yourself with the mouse and run in that direction, you don't have to run at an angle. strafing one way or the other is like sidestepping. once you get used to the scheme it's easy. something like strafe jumping is way more difficult.

I grew up on console shooters like Goldeneye and Perfect Dark.

Never tried a FPS on PC until Soldier of Fortune 2.

Ill never play an FPS on a console if its available for PC again. The difference isnt slight or even gaping, its the Grand Canyon in terms of control and precision. But its a personal taste...PC gaming is dying a slow death, totally true. Console versions of the same game outsell the PC every time.

Just a matter of time before they make a mouse and keyboard (or similar) setup for the consoles, then there wont be an argument anymore.

So you're saying you'd rather play on a 1/4th of a screen than have one all to yourself?

Dude, if you really want to be a hardcore multiplayer, you go to a LAN party. There is just no comparison for the amount of fun you can have with other people gaming. It is manic, and it is brilliant. Best of all, you don't have your screen size chopped into a tiny cube (even on a big TV, the comparative area is small). Bliss.

another thing... it's a duo core processor @ 1.66 and 1.67 respectively... are those numbers cumulative for processing purposes?

Relatively speaking, you have a 3.0+ Ghz processor for single applications like gaming. The speeds aren't nearly as important anymore though, what matters is the processor's multitasking ability, in which the core duos are by far the best highly production model chipset around right now.

The bad news is that in nearly every single laptop the graphics card is not upgradeable. I'm almost certain that it's the case with your Toshiba.

You should also note that 2 months is a relatively long period of time in computers. Prices decrease extremely fast, and new systems come out at the same price with superior specs to the old. If you keep looking at the newest thing on the block you're always going to feel ripped off when you compare it to what you currently have.

And to counter any silly console fanboy that may use this response as an opportunity, please keep in mind that despite the claims of Sony about the power of the Ps3, dual 8800 cards from Nvidia absolutely decimate the Playstation in just about every graphical category. When the 9xxx series comes out, consoles will be relegated to a distant 2nd, 3rd, and 4th in the visuals department. And that distance will only grow until the Ps4/Xbox 720 is released. So yes, PCs are more expensive. But they also deliver a superior visual experience.

if it's not split screen there is ZERO advantage to playing it on a console - you will always have better gfx and netcode on a pc.. for multiplayer the only advantage for a console is playing sitting next to your opponent splitscreen.

All I have to say is this game completely rules my life right now, it has been a great fucking game to this point, and one of the best RPG's I've ever played. I'll have to see how it finishes, but this game could move into my top 3 of Baulder's Gate, KOTOR and Oblivion.

The combat takes some getting used to, but having entire galaxies to explore? Just an amazing game and one you will definitely get your money's worth out of.

Agreed. Also, KOTOR had multiple, viable offensive abilities. to be used situationally.

ME has Singularity, Throw and Lift. Everything else is fluff and not nearly as useful.

Just put the AI on "Active" and buy the Spectre gear (get the rich achievement of $1 million). Combat gets very trivial at that point.

Big controversy at GameSpot over the weekend.

Check out www.joystiq.com (more specifically here (http://www.joystiq.com/tag/jeff-gerstmann))

Summary: The senior editor at GameSpot (Jeff Gerstmann) was allegedly fired over his video review of Kane&Lynch.

Basically, he blasts the game for the piece of shit that it is. The publisher of K&L, Eidos, is none too pleased that the company they spent hundreds of thousands of dollars in advertising with basically scrapped their flagship game on the largest, most viewed website on the net.

GameSpot is owned by CNET, which is rumored to have fired Jeff because Eidos had/has threatened to pull future advertising dollars in lieu of this episode.

Obviously, the journalistic implications are clear. Is it true? Who knows. But Gamespot is mum about the whole situation where a simple explanation to the contrary would clear the whole matter up. Why wouldnt they just say "Eidos had nothing to do with this?"

One could speculate that the reason they havent is because they are in negotiations with Jeff.

My conclusion; Jeff's severance package gets a whooooooole lot sweeter, and he takes one for the team and agrees with whatever bullshit GS comes up with.

Its a three part victory:
a) Hes paid handsomely for his silence and capitulation
b) Shows prospective employers that hes a true team player
c) Gets the glowing reference from GS on future resume'

What does he gain from confirming the rumors?

A badge of honor from the gaming community. Thats it.

Because the practice that has looooong been in place in any "media review" format of paying/pimping/perking the reviewer is as American as apple pie.

Ahhhh, corporate whores win again.

^I've always liked the reviews from ign.com

They appear to be very comprehensive and at times are almost too tough in their reviews. One thing for sure, whenever they actually give a review scored at 9.0 or higher the game turns out to be damn good. At least that's been my experience so far.

As for Kayne and Lynch, most all of the reviews for that game have rated the game average at best, with most leaning towards not that good. Can't imagine there would be a such an uproar over a review at Gamespot.

I could not afford Command and Conquer and World of Warcraft sadly at that time, so I bought Dungeon Lords for 10 bucks lol. Now here's the problem

Yeah right, with all the returns on defective drums and guitars, I'm sure they haven't seen as much profit as they would like, so I couldn't see a price reduction making sense for them.

My basement is finally done, got my rig setup on Saturday.

I played a two day marathon of Crysis. Holy-fucking-Shit this game is Amazing!

Just so I dont sound a fanboy, Crysis does not reinvent the FPS genre. Far from actually. Its not cinematic like Call of Duty, its more a sandbox for you to play in. The only game it compares to is FarCry, which by no surprise, was also created and developed by Crytek.

FarCry was a sleeper in its day. A little known company with no real market advertising released the most technologically beautiful game of its day to much fanfare. That game was FarCry. Tropical island, mutants, AI...the works. With no real advertising, the game was made popular quickly by word of mouth. Crytek developed a special engine exclusively for FarCry, they called it (real imaginative here) CryEngine.

Noticing a pattern with the names? yeah, me too....

Anyway, immediately after FarCry was a commercial success, they started working on the second generation engine (out on a limb with this one......CryEngine2). The first (and only game to date) to use this engine is Crysis.

Oh. My. God.

First and foremost, if your system is anything less than a dual-core processor and a nvidia 8000 series GFX card (or Radeon equivalent), dont bother buying the game. I remember when FarCry came out and ALLLLLL the people complaining about how their rig couldnt run it, bla bla bla...at that time, I wasnt running anything special yet it ran smooth.

Now you hear ALLLLLLL the people bitching about Crysis, and at this point, they are completely justified. This game...alone, will bring any system to its knees. The GFX companies like nvidia and Radeon havent even released the hardware necessary to run this game at high rez with all the bells and whistles turned on (obviously, if youre running a Quad Core and 4 8800 GTXs in SLi, this may not be true, but youre a rich douche and no one likes you anyway).

I have never in my years of gaming, had to tweak every fucking CVAR in the game to just get it run at 20 fps. And my system is no slouch either (Dual Core 3.0ghz, 4 GB of DDR2 RAM, 2 8800GTS in SLi). It still killed my system.

I have a widescreen monitor so I automatically need every game to support widescreen formats (preferably 16:10). Obviously, Crysis does.....but anything above 1024 x 768 seems to require turning and tuning the bells and whistles off or down to run it anything nearing a normal framerate.

Anyway, after much research and literally hundreds of different threads in multiple forums, I found a nice configuration to run it with 20 fps, modest bells and whistles at 1600 x 1050 (dont quote me, but its widescreen). That took me 3 hours.

Then, I started the game. Whew....

Absolutely amazing. Worth every dead end and bout of frustration and then some.

You play as American special forces equipped with the latest in military hardware and technology. The greatest weapon in the game, bar none, is you....and the suit you wear, the NanoSuit. Its gives you a highly customizable experience in what way YOU want to play the game, not the way the devs want players to play the game.

It has 4 different settings quickly accessed on a radial menu via the middle mouse button. The suit has "X" amount of energy available to run the 4 settings and each uses the available energy in different amounts at different rates. Below are the 4 different modes the NanoSuit can initiate;

1) Armor - self explanatory. When hit by enemy fire, your suit acts as a shield, reducing the available energy of the suit before reducing your health.
2) Speed - increases base run speed at no energy cost, but the real sweetness is when you sprint. You move super, super fast but at great expense to available NanoSuit energy.
3) Strength - the most fun of the 4, though a bit unwieldy to use in combat in my experience. Gives you super strength, allowing you to jump incredibly high, pickup and throw objects (and enemies) incredibly far. Its superman lite.
4) Cloak - self explanatory. Think Predator. This is the most useful of the 4, IMO. Moving in cloak reduces the available energy. If you stand still, the energy drop is minimal. Crouch-walking reduces energy slightly faster, but still manageable. Running reduces energy quickly. Sprinting while in cloak will run you out of energy very quickly.

Using the NanoSuit settings is essential. Crysis is not a corridor shooter. You are literally dropped onto an Asian Pacific island in search of a lost research team. The research team found...something. The North Koreans, by way of geographical convenience, are first on the scene and have locked the island down. You are tasked to infiltrate and extract the research team.

Things obviously go to hell pretty quickly. I'll leave the rest of the story for those who wish to play it.

If you like FarCry, you'll enjoy Crysis immensely. Its very free roaming. No battle plays the same way twice. Some games say that and its not exactly true, or the difference between the 2 scenarios is negligible at best. Not in Crysis.

It uses a checkpoint save system (although you can opt to save at anytime) and these checkpoints appear to be area effective.

For example, this being only one of many examples I experienced in my 2-day marathon play session, there was a Korean base in a bay of the island. The bay has a very high, steep cliff on one side, and a rolling hill on the other. I just-so-happened to approach the base from the high side in a Jeep. Being a hybrid runner-gunner type player, subtlety isnt my thing. So I jump out of the jeep, shoot the gas tank on the back which means imminent destruction in 4 seconds. Jump in the driver seat, hit the gas and turbo, start to leap off the side of the cliff and juuuuust as I get airborne, I hit a checkpoint, it autosaves (fucking up my timing for jumping out slightly). I fucked up and didnt jump out in time, but did happen to land on a giant propane tank which made for a nice exit.

The game re-loads from the last save point, this one being in the midst of my best impression of Evil Knievel Fails at the Grand Canyon. Only this time I jump out before impact, but still too high to survive. The jeep hits the propane tank, blowing up the metal awning that covers it into flakes of metal sheeting approaching bullet speeds. Needless to say, the surrounding troops who werent killed by the explosion, were nailed by the debris. Even still, Im a man-pancake at this point, so I have reload.

Im in the air again, now waiting to jump at the last second...high enough to avoid the blast and debris, but low enough to survive. I get 9 out of 10 for the landing. Jeep MISSES the propane tank this time (wind speed or my inertia from jumping out, I guess), but still manages to blow up because I shot the gas tank...oh, and it fell about 400 ft. So, for posterity, I shoot the propane tank because that beauty just cant stay intact after the BS I went thru. Only I didnt exactly find cover from enemy fire, nor did I account for that damn debris again. Between getting shot and taking a pole to the side of my head, I checked out.

Reload. Midair, I jump out in time again, the Jeep barely hits the propane tank setting off a beautiful pyrotechnic display killing everything in the vicinity. I land with negligible damage only this time I immediately switch to cloak. Stay still, wait for the reinforcements to arrive so I can feed em a grenade or 3. Only they never arrive, must have gotten em all. Dead wrong. I killed everything on the ground, this much is true. What I didnt account for was the snipers in the towers overlooking the bay. They seen my "from the top rope" act and shot up signal flares. The reinforcements werent troops, it was a helicopter...and I am out of rockets. Im big fucked. To make matters worse, my Pornos for Pyros routine has leveled the entire area I landed in, so even if there were rockets in one of the buildings, those buildings are currently rubble covered with other rubble. Im being pursued by an attack helicopter with no rockets and no immediate cover in cloak which is making me hard to find, but draining my already depleted energy supply. Im big fucked. Fuck it, uncloak, goto Armor, sprint for nearest cover and hope the gunner is drunk or cross eyed or both. Torn to shreds before I got 10 feet. Maybe should have tried a speed dash, but Im pretty sure my energy would have run out before I made it to cover. Oh well, reload.

3 more times, 3 completely different variations, sometimes a helicopter, sometimes not. Regardless, I saved that particular game at that particular point (named it Knievel) just so I could play it over and over again until I got it right. I did in fact make it a couple of times, but the fun I was having didnt make me feel good about it. I wanted to die, I wanted to be overwhelmed just to play it again and again.

Anyway, I ended up reloading from an earlier point before I jumped the cliff. This time I drove the jeep to the brink of the edge, shot the gas tank, switched to Strength mode and knocked it off the side of the cliff sans me being in the vehicle and used my binoculars to watch the destruction. Oh, glory days. I then used my sniper rifle to pick off the other snipers before they could flare for backup. I used a super-speed jump to clear the beach and land in the water from about a 400 ft fall, which the nanosuit absorbed with no problems. It wasnt as fun, but it conserved ammo, looked awesome and cleared the area. So I went with it.

Just one of many examples that Crysis offers. So many ways to approach the same situation, over and over, with completely different results from the AI and physics engine. Hahaa...writing this reminds me of my first "Oh SHIT!" moment in Crysis. I was busy bringing a helicopter down with rockets, which is normal. But, I guess I didnt account for where the helicopter wreckage was going to land. I was standing on the ground near a large, steep hill full of tall trees. The helicopter was really high (i just jumped from the high hill, so the pilot hadnt lowered his altitude yet). I blew it up with satisfaction, to use a hockey phrase, I was "admiring my pass" when slowly I realized that the mid-air wreckage had fallen in such a way that it skipped off the top of the big trees and started to roll like a log down the side of the hill mowing down the little trees reducing them to splinters. This was really cool to watch but my dumbass didnt see that the wreckage was approaching a jutting rock. The helicopter wreck hit the rock, jumped AWAY from the hill about 30-50 feet and landed....where? Right on my fucking head. I wish I had that on video...I'd make it my avatar. Too cool.

If those explanations dont interest you, then dont bother with Crysis. The game is literally, unequivocally FULL of moments like this. Where the world surprises you, where you cant expect things to be the exact same, that "this guy" will run around "this side" of "that building" at "this time". It doesnt work that way. Sure you can time patrols like that, but once the gun fire starts, all bets are off. Notice I never mentioned the sci-fi aspect of Crysis? There is a reason. That part of the game should be experienced, not portrayed. I'll say this much...many people in Hollywood have tried to portray the "foreign" environment. None have pulled it off quite like Crytek did. Its mesmerizing, yet confusing and disorientating at the same time. Which way is up, left, down, you have no idea. Even when its over, you still dont quite understand where you were and how you got out. Its awesome.

Buy the game if your rig can handle it. If your rig cant, wait until it can, then buy the fucking game.

Tonight, Crysis Multiplayer.

I dont know if the drivers are the reason, or the fact that I ran the game in DX9 instead of DX10, but a HUUUUUUUGE improvement in framerate.

My FPS didnt dip below 25 no matter what was happening on screen. Im running it at 1920 x 1200 with all settings HIGH.

Im going to use the crack for DX9 to get the most out of the game tonight.

Well, I dont want to fuck the thread up with a conversation for 2, but I guarantee I can help you run the SP demo.

If you want, PM me your rig specs (processor, amount of RAM, GFX card(s), operating system).

Ill point you to the best available resource in the world. Its a custom config file that reduces the highly-taxing graphical aspects of CryEngine2, while still keeping the less intensive aspects. Trust me, my rig was getting its ass kicked.

But I have already done the legwork to find and implement the proper changes (of which I did nothing, I just had to find the proper forum which had a wonderful member who did ALL the real legwork).

You just create a new file call system.cfg, copy and paste this pre-fabtext file in system.cfg, and voila! If this works for you in the Demo, it will rock for the full game. The full game is even more optimized than the demo (by far).

I'd say pass on Heavenly Sword, it's very average. If it wasn't only on PS3 no one would have gave it another look, but might be worth a rent if you're into repetitive fighting games. Ratchets good but after playing every ratchet game i was a little disappointed since it's just the same thing but with better graphics.

Alright, finally completed Call of Duty 4 on veteran, including the epilogue. After I grab the last handful of laptops to get the final achievement, I'm not touching the single player portion of the game (except for the AC-130 level, that's all of the awesomeness with none of the suck) for the next year or two. Now on to the Orange Box, that should keep me busy for a while.

I think I have finally caught up to the curve in CoD4 in multiplayer. Took longer than I suspected, but it makes sense in retrospect.

I played SoF2 a lot. It was fast paced, not UT/Quake fast but certainly a subsonic difference than CoD4.

CoD4 is much, much more patient game (for now). You dont run around endlessly killing everything that moves (although there are players who can, but theyre sick).

First, I mostly play Hardcore. I never liked playing shooters that require you to hit someone 5-10x to kill them (cough Halo, UT). 2-3 shots. 1 if you hit em high enough.

CoD4 delivers in that regard. Coupled with the Rank system (new guns, new perks, etc), the MP game is deep.

One problem though, IMO, are the maps. They are all well done, no qeustion. But they are all used for every gametype (TDM, Sabotage, etc) and some are not suited to the various gametypes. On some maps, the defending team in Sabotage is going to win 100% of the time (unless filled with jerkoffs). The attacking has zero chance...I dont care if theyre all elite players and smoke grenades, theyre going to lose attacking a half-decent defense.

This by far is my biggest gripe with the MP game, bar none. Airstrikes and Helicopters. What a complete bullshit addition to the game. I like the UAVs, thats neat. But I hate, HATE, HATE airstrikes and helis. The game is hard enough to play, harder still to comeback from a deficit and near impossible to do anything when the other team has 3-4 dominant players who are racking up the kill streaks, calling in endless helis and strikes. It ruins A LOT of games. If you find yourself on the other end of this kind of cheap ownage, do yourself a favor, go to spectator and wait for the next game. That, or your stats are going to go straight to shit. You can be the best player in the world, with all the nooks and crannies figured out in every map and deadeye aim with near perfect reaction time, and there aint a damn thing you can do about having a fucking bomb dropped on your head endlessly because all your teammates suck. Also, the streaks carry over into the next round. So, the match will begin, and immediately your team is wiped out by an airstrike. Its frustrating and a complete noob way of getting high kill counts.

With that said, I use the shit out of them. I hate it, wish I could find a decent server that disables them, but if theyre available, you better use them. Because if YOU are calling in an airstrike, that means your ENEMY cannot. Only one helicopter can be in the air at a time, as only one airstrike can be called in at a time. So if you have them, use them. Not only for the uber-godlike kill streak to ensue, more importantly, the inability for your enemies to do the same to you.

Other than that, CoD4 has renewed my FPS interest. Excellent, excellent game.

I just hit rank 45 (of 55). Got the Overkill perk (carry two primary weapons) and have finally found my groove playing seriously stiff competition. Im never below 0.500 in K/D ratio and routinely am way above 0.500.

that sounds really unbalanced and wack. is there any sort of build-up meter or time constraint that determines when an airstrike can be called? i'm still enjoying the hell out of TF2 myself. the limited airstrikes you could call in as a human soldier in quake wars: enemy territory pissed me off, but you could kinda escape them.

Ok, sorry to divert off the COD4 current talk-but I just got the dreaded 3 rings of death on my 360. I've had my 360 for over a year and thought I was good to go, guess not.

So, I've received the shipping box and sent it off today via UPS. My question at this point for my fellow 360 owners who have had this issue:

Is there anything I should do while waiting for the repair? Any precautions I should take? And any other general advice is appreciated.

The part that also really sucks is that I was approaching the last portion of Bioshock when this happened, DAMN! Guess I'll have to wait a few weeks. Thanks in advance for any help/advice.

No limit. Only limitation is one airstrike at a time, and one helicopter at a time (mutually exclusive...think I am using that right. Meaning, a heli can be in the air AND an airstrike comes at the same time).

Beyond that, it can become a spam fest if a team has 3-4 good players on it.

Airstrike can be called when you reach 5 (or 6?) consecutive kills without dying.

Helicopter can be called when you reach 7 consecutive kills without dying.

I personally have no problem airstrikes and choppers (most of the time). You know when an airstrike is coming so you have some time to react and find cover. I'd say I survive 4 outta every 5 airstrikes. Couple that with the fact people often suck at doing them since they don't have UAV while doing it. Choppers are harder though, but still can be shot down and avoided. I'll admit I disliked them for a long time because I never got any 5 or 7 kills streaks :lol.

I really got into my stride in COD4 MP around Christmas. Before then I'd only usually kill 8-12 people per map with a K/D of around 1.0. Since then I usually kill b/w 18-25 people per map, even as high as 45 (K/D ratio of 2+). Unlocking the P90 also gave me a boost, I use that shit like 70% of the time. Shitty @ long range, though.

Yeah, dont get me wrong. I do OK avoiding the strikes as well, but theyre quite hard to avoid after a round change. And the servers I play on are ultra-competitive (clan servers only). So the clans in-game are usually on coms (not the ingame coms) and have a coordinated attack. They also hoard their airstrikes specifically for the round change.

Helicopters arent as devastating (IMO) as airstrikes. Though, strangely, the fuckin things seem to follow me for some damn reason. Couple that with beyond-moronic teammates that sont shoot the fucking chopper and you have yourself a two part bad situation.

1) youre being attacked by a copter
2) you cant call in a copter until that one is a) shot down or b) times out

Either way, its just annoying. I hate begging teammates to try and win. youve got obvious TDM players playing Sabotage with no inclination to defuse the damn bomb .

Im sure you know what I mean...

I remember when a chopper killed me 5 times in the same attack. Insane. :lol

I don't rely on teammates to do shit. When an enemy hopper is inbound, they never shoot it down. When you call a chopper, they never protect it. I literally follow my chopping chasing enemies with RPGs.

Clans can be a bitch, I agree. Right now I play a strategic run-and-gun style, where I usually end up at the enemy stronghold areas at the beginning of a map before they're even there. It usually results in me starting most maps well and being able to call in choppers. Nothing more satisfying than bombing/knifing a whole clan, though.

It's really random. At the shortest it could take 2 1/2 weeks and at the longest 1 1/2 months. I don't have much knowledge about that since I've never had to turn mine in, I'm just basing it on the experiences of some of my friends' 360s.

So I had this little game called "Mass Effect" sitting in my room, collecting dust (I probably need to dust more often). It's been there for a month or so unplayed. Anyway over the weekend I decided to give this game a whirl and I became instantly hooked. It's like crack, I would think. At first I thought it was alright during the first 20 minutes but once you start playing it, you just want to do everything in the game's universe. Everything is so well thought out and so well organized that you feel like you're a part of this world. You become fixated on the screen and before you know it, you have three or four hours under your belt.

Highly recommend it.

Bioshock relies on the quality of the story much moreso than any other FPS, and I don't think it can become a successful franchise because of that. I could see Bioshock having one truly great prequel on the strength of the character Andrew Ryan (his character single-handedly makes Bioshock a masterpiece), but the time period is way too short and the universe of Rapture is way too small for a third game.

I've read that Bioshock 2 is going to be about the fall of Rapture from being a once-Utopia, but what options are there for a third game? Helping Andrew Ryan clear out squids and sharks to make the city? Another plane-crash and some other unlucky bastard ventures into the city? The Navy finds it and tries to invade? They all sound lame except for the prequel currently in planning, which has great potential.

So who is developing Bioshock then? Did EA buy Irrational, or are they just going to pawn it off on one of their own development groups? That's hilarious that EA would come crawling back to Bioshock after shitting all over Irrational's bid to get them to publish it a couple of years back.

Bad news though if they did just take over the name. To quote Ken Levine (the lead man at Irrational/2k Boston), had EA agreed to publish Biohock it would have been "just a regular first-person shooter with a boss monster at the end."

You sir, would make great EA material with all that unoriginal thought there.

Have any other gems of brand-prostitution up your sleeve? We are watching.

note: funny thing is, youre probably dead on with all of them. It'll be Oceania with a BioShock sticker on the box.

The whole idea of Little Sisters as medics while Big Daddies go spraying each other in team deathmatch doesn't sound too interesting to me.

Maybe Irrational selling off the rights to the series was their way of giving EA the middle finger for not believing in the initial project. It's not going to do well as a cookie-cutter shooter, and maybe Irrational understood that it would suck as a franchise for the reasons I laid out above. :lol

Anyone here have Call of Duty 4 for the PS3? I just recently got it and have been playing online a lot. Just looking to see if anyone here has it and is wanting to jump online and get an asskicking from the Reverend.

Oh yeah, theres some definite replay value. Bummer with Oblivion, though.

Bioshock will definitely get another playthrough, if only to see the ending if I harvest the Little Sisters instead of save them. Still, that playthrough won't come for a long time, as I have Orange Box and have only played (and beaten) Portal so far.

Just finished bioshock (amazing fucking game), and now I'm finally getting around to playing Rainbow 6/Las Vegas, that game has been fun as hell-can't wait for the next one coming out later this month.

The main game on my radar at this time is GTA IV in late April, that game looks to be REALLY good. :smokin

Bioshock was fun but once I beat it I never touch it again.

Last week I bought, Overlord for my Xbox 360 and NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams for my Wii and Assassin's Creed, Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction for my PS3. I got about 12 hours on Overlord its a fun game and got about 3 hours on Ratchet also fun, I have yet to touch the other 2 games.

I got till April 29th to beat all four because then Grand Theft Auto IV comes out.
I am not sure if I am going to get Super Smash Bros. Brawl on Sunday. Many Gamestop stores are having midnight launches and also having tournaments that start at 10 pm if anyone is good at that game, I suck at Brawl.

How is DMC4?
Just finished it yesterday, it's a solid enough game, but doesn't stand out from the other 3 DMC games.

And because of the way the storyline i constructed it gets (VERY) repetitive in the last 1/3 of the game.

AC is a trilogy. So to say the "end" was anticlimatic is an understatement.

Worse than that, the second installation of AC is being developed for..

Yes I did pick it up and yes it is better than last year. Here is what they added.

January 18, 2008 KOXM podcast, revealed the following new features to debut in 2K8:[2]

* 90 playable real-life minor league baseball teams and players (restricted to players who have had major league experience), including 20 authentic minor league stadiums.
* 2K Cards, unlockable trading cards
* New pitching system in which the pitch type is determined by analog stick movement
* Swing Stick 2.0, a revamped analog batting system which allows an increased variety of batted balls (Baltimore Chops, bloops, dribblers, etc.)
* New ball-throwing system which is also determined by analog stick movement
* More realistic fielding tweaks, and a revamp of double play animation and gameplay.

The official site also included these additional new and updated features:[1]

* Downloadable minor league stadiums
* Revamped baserunning, with more intuitive controls and smarter baserunning AI
* Additional Signature Style animations
* Downloadable Cool Base Uniforms (Xbox 360)

Only problem is that some of the screen transitions from replays and such lag a little, but worth it for any baseball game fan. It takes a while getting the pitching down while using the pitch stick. Also it takes a game or 2 to get used to the fielding with the new field stick as far as throwing to the different bases. The cool thing is if you are fielding a ball and throwing it to second you can change your mind while in wind up and throw to 3rd or home etc...
